Oh you root for THEM? Gimme back my number
I have an extremely diverse group of friends, and that diversity doesn't end where team loyalty is concerned. Especially since joining FanIQ, I've met and become great friends with fans of some of my most disliked teams.

As a Seahawks fan, the only real bitter rivalry I can remember that even comes close to resembling the Redskins and Cowboys, or the Redskins and Eagles, or the Cowboys and Eagles (wtf is it with that division anyway?) is the old rivalry between the Hawks and the Raiders...but that's kind of fizzled since Seattle moved to the NFCW.

My Ducks...well I suppose I could count the Kings as a "bitter" rivalry, although I think the Kings and Kings fans hate the Ducks and Ducks fans more than the Ducks and Ducks fans hate the Kings and Kings fans.  (That was fun).

As for the Mariners; they're not good enough - and haven't been, ever - for anybody to really hate them.

Anyway, do you have such a loyalty to your team, and hate its most bitter rival so much that you find it difficult to be friends with fans of that team? What about when you find a favorite actor/singer/etc. shows loyalty (or dates a QB) for a team you hate?

I love haters!

Spent a REALLY long time with a Spurs fan . Arguments lasted a long time and were epic, but I prefer it that way. And all of my friends here are mostly fans of some team I hate or just dont care about. I don't change allegiances from my teams, but I will root for a friend's if it affects me in no way.

When I first met my...well, now husband...he didn't really follow the NFL much but he claimed to be a 49ers fan and he teased me incessantly about my Seahawks. For about the first year we were together he still didn't pay too much attention to the NFL, but somehow my love for my team and my obsession must have been contagious because I think he's just as crazy about them now as I've always been.

Shhhh...he'd kill me if he knew I told anyone he used to be a Niners fan and switched to a division rival.

Honestly most of the women i have dated have not really been much into the sports thing , but i wouldn't be against dating someone who was a rival teams fan if she was hot enough lol   i just love a woman in nothing but a football jersey (preferably a saints jersey) but hell when it comes to "hot chic's" one can only be so picky

I have friends that root for rival teams just makes watching some of the games a little more fun , the sh!t talking just expands

4. I proposed to smalls recently. He wouldn't have me unless I gave up texans or chargers. I couldn't. But I said ugly things about P. Rivers. Just for him.

It gives wider perspective of the game, rivals can point out things that you miss due to your blind faith in some player or team. In-fact me and my best friend are fans of two teams who have a pretty bitter rivalry, he makes fun of my team and i take digs at his but all the same our friendship is beyond these teams and their rivalry.

1. Depends..........................not sure I would be interested in someone carrying a Duck Caller though.
2. SIGHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh------I seem to be surrounded by fans of other teams, doesn't really pay to HATE; however, if any of my Kings recruits turned and went all orange and "Duckie" or grew red "wings", I'd remove them from my life completely. (lol...sadly, I don't think I'm kidding. lol)
3. Well......I can not enjoy Pennywise since the Ducks started using their Bro Hymm song after each goal scored at home.
4. No.....but I've grown from hating a team hugely to just really really really not liking them.

It's all just a game and I know both of my NFL teams stand about as good of a chance going to the Super Bowl as I do, Or the Cubs winning the World Series

Oh I have friends who root for the 49ers, Rams, Lakers, Jazz, SF Giants, and  Dodgers (my rival teams). It's no big deal for me really unless they start to go overboard.

I love having friends that root for the rivals of my favorite team.  I love the back and forth trash talking.  To take it a step further, I enjoy traveling to other cities to watch my team.  Call me crazy, but I love being "that guy," especially when my team wins.  It does make for a long drive home when my team loses, but it's part of being a loyal fan.

Great Poll Jess!  (stinkin Duck fan)

Living in Iowa and being a Nebraska fan is sometimes challenging.  I try to keep my allegiance to the Huskers private when it comes to business relations.  When a customer learns of my Husker roots, I get that sideways look (you know the one, chin raised a little, eyes half closed).

As far as relationships go, it doesn't matter a whole lot.  I think it keeps things interesting when you have opposing teams.  Here like in many states there are 'houses divided' regarding allegiance to Iowa State and Iowa (even UNI and Drake).

In fantasy football, I've learned the hard way to not be a homer.  Last weekend I had 5 Huskers starting on my team.  I drank a lot of coolaid, figured we'd easily win 98-0 and roll up 900 yards and hold to opponent to 7 yards.  Boy was I wrong.  I also benched a TE from Missouri one week because I hate them so...

Ok, I’m a die-hard Alabama fan so it would be hard if I ever dated an Auburn chick.  She would have been extremely hot for me to go there!  Then I would take my hatred of Auburn on her in the bedroom!  Hell, I would even make her scream certain phrases in the heat of the moment!

I have plenty of friends who are fans of the rivals of my teams, but it’s cool to talk smack!  It makes the office and the weekends a little more fun!

one of my best and dearest friends that has been in town a few times this summer, Matt, is a huge Redskins fan. He lived
here  a couple months a couple years in a row.  we used to go watch football together, and we would rib each other but never in a disrespectful way....generally if  i am at a rival game or with rival ,hostile fans around  i say nothing when their team scores or just state the fact have been known to lecture rival fans if they are with their kids and saying things like"kill him"....boy you would feel really awful(if you have  concious) if a player was hurt on a play , i would think...,,,,i think the mentality of meaness isnt a good thingto project...yeah yeah im no fun,,cause i feel if you cant say something nice dont say it..bronco fans did theirdamnest to piss me off ,,just didnt work till one drunk fan actually smacked mewith an article of clothing after the game was over ,,i had congratulated him on the win...what ever,,,.......it works for me and thats what matters.....i do get defensive when people constantly bash my team....or blame me for things...(seriously i had a guy scream at me in a bar once for losing money on a bet cause he took the giants......like i made the guy bet..lol  though the couple weeks prior he was bragging how much money he won on them.....ummm there is this lil thing called ODDS... i strongly suggest NOT wearing a giants jersey into Raider Nation either.....

1) My wife isn't into sports (at all) so I don't have that problem now.  But I did date a woman from Detroit and it was kinda fun. If I won I could rib her a little about it, and if she won she was really happy, so "I won".
2) I have some freinds who's goal in life is to give me greif when my teams lose

3) Nah, celebs are good for what they're good at

4)Never change your alliance to your team.

1. I'm a Calgary Flames fan, hubby likes the Canucks
2. Of course! That's half the fun.
3. Nope, I might not like them quite as much, but I wouldn't completely drop them.
4. My dad was a Boston Bruins fan, so I was as well when I was younger.  I just really loved my dad, so I loved anything he did.  When I got older and could go to games myself, one of the first games I attended live was a Calgary Flames game, and I became an immediate fan.
