On the Big Screen - Oct. 1
Dodge used to do a poll similar to this every week, and I thought it might be fun to bring it back. I'll make them earlier in the week starting next week but I just thought of it today so...

I'll list the week's highly advertised new releases and we can discuss! (Let us know if there's something else coming out this week that we may not have seen trailers for that might be as good or better than these!)

Let Me In
Kodi Smit-McPhee
Chloe Moretz
Richard Jenkins
Cara Buono
Director: Matt Reeves
A bullied young boy befriends a young female vampire who lives in secrecy with her guardian.

The Social Network
Jesse Eisenberg
Rooney Mara
Bryan Barter
Justin Timberlake
Director: David Fincher
A story about the founders of the social-networking website, Facebook.

Case 39
Renee Zellweger
Ian McShane
Bradley Cooper
Director: Christian Alvart
A social worker (Zellweger) fights to save a girl from her abusive parents, only to discover that the situation is more dangerous than she ever expected.

1.  Which movie
Let Me In - Not only no, but he** no.  I don't like scary movies to begin with, and this has teenybopper flick written all over it.

The Social Network - This might be okay to watch in 10 years when it's on TBS at 11:00 at night and I can't sleep.  I'm not going to plop down $20 to see a movie about a website.  Unless of course some hot chick wants to see it, then I could probably muster enough fake interest to take her to it.

Case 39 - Intriguing, but again not enough to get $20 out of my wallet.  Probably wait for the DVD and get it from Netflix.

4.  Highest earner this weekend?

The Social Network.  Nerds and facebbook addicts will go to this movie in droves.

3.  Which do you like better?

Renee Zelwinger remains at the top of the "Ugliest women I want to do" list.

4.  Will you see any?

No

5.  See any last week?

None of those, but I did see "Dinner for Schmucks" Friday, funniest movie I've seen in a long time.  Highly recommend it.

Ya know...I love the Jackass show and movies as much as the next guy (I don't care much for the bodily function pranks and stunts but the rest of it is hilarious). But did they really need to go 3d?

I agree the 3D is probably uncessary and a litte bit of overkill. But I love to watch  that group of dumba$$es do some stupid crap!

The Social Network is going to RAKE this weekend.  Last I checked, it was doing 100% on Rotten Tomatoes which is downright crazy.  I'll wait till it comes out on DVD because quite honestly, it doesn't interest me that much.  But you can bet your bottom dollar millions upon millions of facebookers will be spending their $$$ this weekend.

People still go to the Movies? even after buying all that Hi DEF TV and stuff. i don't get it myself, but then again, I will go to a bar, spend 5 times the amount of what Movie Money is these days. But my entertainment factor is times 10.

It's the experience. I have all that Hi Def Wide Screen LCD TV etc. (mainly for sports), but I love to go see loud action adventure/mystery flicks on the big screen with lots of noise and explosions while I eat my warm buttery lard covered popcorn with M&M's dumped in (they get all gooey inside). I'll gladly pay $10/per ticket for a good flick but I'm really selective about what I see in the theater. I also usually go to the matinees, which cost less.

Also, going to movies in the theater is something that I actually enjoy doing by myself. Most other forms of entertainment outside the house, I'd rather go with other people. So I like the movies when I'm craving some "Jess time" :)

I love going to matinees by myself.  It's one of my favorite past times.  There always seems to be less distractions because there are fewer people and it's much cheaper.  Win-win in my book!

I saw You Again opening night and loved it.
Mainly because I  Jamie Lee, Sigourney, and Betty White ... but it was still a cute movie, anyway.

Might go see The Social Network. Don't know if its because I'm interested in the story (already know much of it) or because they use "Power" for the commercials.

I can see why The Social Network is earning rave reviews.. With the combination of Aaron Sorkin writing and David Fincher directing, I don't think it's possible for it to be a bad movie..

Wall Street 2 was boring and failed to live up to expectation. The plot twists were obvious and cliched and there just wasn't enough momentum to power this film. I would avoid seeing it, unless you are a die-hard Michael Douglas fan.

Well, you're kind of an elitist who hates Target so I'm not sure I'm going to take your word for anything "mainstream".

I wait until they come out on DVD, you only have to wait a few weeks anymore. Like a couple of years ago it took from 6 months to a year, And you can buy the movie for the same price as it costs to go see it

The original version of "let me in" (let the right one in/swedish subtitles) is awesomely F'ed beyond belief. I don't know how they pull it off over heRE and get it in wide release. It's on NetFlix for you other sickos out there like me, lol! Plus, I LOVE the fact they they call it "THE" Facebook in all those social network ads. KILLS me every time!! They should have never shortened it to just Facebook. Never. FYI, case 39 was shot in 2007 and put in the can for a few years. That usually never bodes well.

I noticed it said 2009 on the release date, and I thought that was weird because it's a big advertised release this week. Too bad, the story sounds OK if it was done right. I love creepy little kid movies so I'll probably see it...on Netflix.
