Welcome back. This is the part of the locker room where you can sit and chat and chill for a while without offending or being shushed. Maybe you wanna watch a dvd or listen to your mp3. Yes, I rhymed. Something on your mind, post it! Random question, ask it? Hijacking is allowed and encouraged. Join the party, troll around, have a beer. It's cool. All are welcome, but please leave all BS in the hall.

It's October already and I think I don't want to be bothered today. But it's Friday. Thank goodness for that. All my friends, I love ya. All of my Q friends, I probably love you too, but I won't commit to that.

Did anyone ever tell me what the hell Whoa Black Betty is about?

 Good Morning America, It's Friday!!!

Make a little love...

Afternoon Hockey 1:30 the puck drops.  What a great Friday.

If it weren't for Victoria's Secret, the Adult Female Costume Flyers at Halloween would be the best.

Braves 2 up in the Wild Card, with 3 to play.  They screwed up the East Pennant, but the wild card will work fine also.  Va Tech in town to Play the NCSU Wolfpack.  Should be a great game, GO PACK!!!

Watching "Stripes" this morning so... "Well, my name's Dewey Oxburger. My friends call me Ox. I dont know if you've noticed, but I got a slight weight problem."

and for the Ladies, Be Inspired:

Great women are not considered so because of personal achievements, but for the effect their efforts have had on the lives of countless others. From daring feats of bravery to the understated ways of a compassionate heart, great women possess a common strength of character. I got pulled over by a cop the other day because I was "braking" without any other cars present. I never knew that was illegal, I was just slowing down to see street signs to find out where I was at. I got lucky and didn't get a ticket and passed the breathalyzer though I had just left the bar.

Yay October is finally here, which means a significant markdown in the weather.

Hope all you Q'ers are having a great day.

Oktoberfest, my Favorite Holiday Season. Well except The Big Cannes Porn Film Festival....

So, 3 f%#king days to kick back, relax, and get Southern Comfortably numb.

I may got out for provisions and to get a haircut, possibly pick up some Strange.

So sticking to a pain free weekend plan, this just put me in the right frame of Mind.

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?

Come on, now
I hear you're feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again

Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are the only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying

When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am

I have become comfortably numb

I have become comfortably numb

Okay
Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more
But you may feel a little sick

Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are the only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying

When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown the dream is gone

I have become comfortably numb

Happy Friday Everybodeee!

My daughter found out that there weren't enough people signing up (or allowed by their parents) for there to be a band sleep over.  There was one planned after the football game tonight, and then tomorrow morning, they would've been immediately present to get on the bus for their trip to LA for their parade.

I told her that it was ok, that she'd be sleeping in her warm soft bed, as opposed to sleeping on the cold hard (smelly?) gym floor.   She was still a bit disappointed.  Oh, well.

Got great tickets to see Rush tomorrow night.  They are doing the whole Moving Pictures album. Woo Hoo!!  Haven't seen them do that since I was in high school.

Been a tragic week in our city.  3 different domestic violence murders in the last few days.  One dude killed his wife and 4 children.
Just more proof that restraining orders aren't worth the paper they are printed on.   My prayers ae with all the families.  Been there, done that.   Sick of hearing people say the women should just leave.  Easy to say, when you never had your life threatened or a gun shoved down your throat.

"Did anyone ever tell me what the hell Whoa Black Betty is about?"

Ashlie, as far as I can tell, it was about the 'Bama Lambs' which in my interpprutation it is refering to all the teams that Alabama have beat, are beating, and shall beat. Roll Tide.

Braves, the magic number is two, you are playing the Phillies, PLEASE win.
Friday, it's what's for breakfast...
Falcons beat 'Niners this week by two TDs, oh and boo to the Giants <whispering> but honestly, I may actually pull for you ****ers over the weekend, I have stooped so low...
Kings in Vegas this weekend, I know someone having a good time soon, I hope it is great weekends for all. Later.

To me, Black Betty is about a woman who had a child named betty, and that child grew up a menace. At age 16 she went blind due to a cocaine overdose, then she became a stripper/prostitute in her home town of Birmingham Alabama..Bam ba lam.

The Charger game will most likey be blacked out AGAIN, but like I said before, if someone gets me to the game they will win. If no one gets me a ticket, I might drive out to Yuma Arizona with a couple friends to watch the game at a bar...that is how far out I would have to go to outrun the blackout. (F*ck it, road trip)

We are having the craziest weather here in San DIego. On monday it was 110 degrees, and yesterday it was raining with Thunder and lightning all day...and I loved it!  While I was driving my company vehicle, I kept wondering if the person behind me was calling the "how am I driving number" I am friggin paranoid now, If i even have the slightest feeling that i cut somone off, I pull over or make a bunch of unnecessary turns to see if they are following me. I dont think that this is going to work out, I will be looking for a new job during my suspension..wish me luck!

Another song to start the day. Happy Friday everyone!

Disarm you with a smile
And cut you like you want me to
Cut that little child
Inside of me is such a part of you
Ooh, the years burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my choice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

Disarm you with a smile
And leave you like they left me here
To wither in denial
The bitterness of one who's left alone
Ooh, the years burn
Ooh, the years burn, burn, burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my voice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you

Morning Scoodle Dwellers and Happy Pants!

I am hoping for a decent sub today and Monday. I spent 2 hours yesterday getting my classroom ready and creating sub plans-----------you would have to have an IQ of a lima bean not to be able to get it right. I'm crossing my fingers. (I also gave my kids a good 10 minute "talk" about behaving as well. We'll see if that helps.)

Anywhoo.....................VIVA LAS VEGAS! I'm packed and ready for all that glorious city offers. Garth tonight. Kings tomorrow. One of my students from last year will be attending---------------that makes my teach heart proud. AWWWWWWW.....I am so F'N happy right now!

Hope you all have enjoyable days and weekends. Remember sinning is good in small doses (throughout the entire weekend).

Happy October! Happy Friday! Biketoberfest is just around the corner!  Sharing a Friday joke. Have a great weekend. Hope your teams WIN!

A drunken man walks into a biker bar, sits down at the bar and orders a drink.  Looking around, he sees three men sitting at a corner table.  He gets up, staggers to the table, leans over, looks the biggest, meanest, biker in the face and says:

'I went by your grandma's house today and I saw her in the hallway buck-naked. Man, she is one fine looking woman!' The biker looks at him and doesn't say a word.

His buddies are confused, because he is one bad biker and would fight at the drop of a hat.  The drunk leans on the table again and says:

'I got it on with your grandma and she is good, the best I ever had!'  The biker's buddies are starting to get really mad but the biker still says nothing.   The drunk leans on the table one more time and says, 'I'll tell you something else, boy, your grandma liked it!'

At this point the biker stands up, takes the drunk by the shoulders looks him square in the eyes and says....................

'Grandpa.......... Go home!'

I don't think there is one definite meaning of the song Black Betty..
In my opinion, I think it refers to the whips used on prisoners in the South, especially since Lead Belly himself was an ex-con

Hola Qlanders

I love Friday's. It's hard to believe they even pay me for them, effing idiots had half a clue they probably wouldn't. Steelers play at 1 against Baltimore, this will be the toughest Benless game yet. Then again, I have Ashlie's 0-3 streak working for them.

Anywho have a great weekend, the alcohol starts now.

The Who- Baba O'Riley

Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living.

I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven.
yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah

Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland

Sally, take my hand
We'll travel south cross land
Put out the fire
And don't look past my shoulder.

The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older.

Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland.
Teenage wasteland
Oh, yeah
Its only teenage wasteland
They're all wasted!

Good early afternoon, bitches.
Managed to get out of work earlier than usual today, despite being rather busy.  Must have had a little pep in my step after getting a decent amount of sleep for a change (it did not come without cost, however).
So this is like day 104 of rain here, which not only puts me in a mood and makes me strut around with perma-scowl on my face, but also makes cigarette breaks a real bitch.  I found a solution, though.
Being all smartypants, in my head, I realized that while normal people might use an umbrella, I am not a normal person.  Therefore, I decided that the good lord above had me buy a Scion (aka My Box ... giggity) for a reason, and that reason is the hatch.  Putting the hatch up and sitting in the back is brilliant.  Cover from the rain that is way more effective than that flimsy Weather Channel umbrella I bought with AmEx rewards points like 3 years ago, none of that sideways rain coming in the window from sitting in the car and cracking the window (or risking feeling like I'm being fumigated if I don't crack the window ... gross), AND I get a nice dry spot to sit.  Outstanding idea, if I must say so myself.  And it worked out well.  That is, until I went back inside after that first break.  You see, I got up, all proud of myself and my fantastic idea, went to close the hatch, not realizing that the area where my license plate is located indents a bit, creating a perfect little area for a fairly large amount of rain to gather.  So I close the hatch and whoosh, 19.3 gallons of rainwater (approximately) dumps ALL over my pants and shoes, leaving me soaked from the waist down.    Oh, bother.  I feel like Eeyore.
Luckily, I wear nylon scrubs to work so they dried quickly, but that is hardly the point.  It's just that kind of day ... again.

Art show tomorrow.  I'm excited.  I hope I find some art to buy.  Or some eye candy to bring home.

I should definitely have a computer tomorrow.  I'm even more excited about that.

Happy Friday, gang.

Pearl Jam: Black:

Hey... oooh...
Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me as her body once did.
All five horizons revolved around her soul
As the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn

Ooh, and all I taught her was everything
Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything.
Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear?
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can drop away

And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
Of what was everything?
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be... yeah...
Uh huh... uh huh... ooh...

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why
Why, why can't it be, can't it be mine

Aah... uuh..

Too doo doo too, too doo doo [many times until fade]
Happy Friday...

Its already October? Roommate and I realized that in 2 months we've done some decent damage to our livers.  Also, I cannot wait until Kanye's album comes out. If it isn't his best yet, I'll be a little disappointed.

sooooo I stopped at the Liquor store today to get my hubby some beer.  I was in last Monday and one of the girls offered to help me carry my purchase to my car.  I told her I was fin, could manage, but she kind of insisted, so.....
Anyway, I commented on the fact that they had two new girls working and she said they needed two more, so I mentioned that I should fill out the application form I have had for a year.  She said "oh no, you just need to drop off your resume".  Of course, I had one in my car, so I gave it to her, not thinking there was any real hope of me being hired, but what the hell.

So today, I'm about to pick up hubby's beer and the assistant manager calls to me from across the store and tells me she was just about to call me and did I have a few minutes to talk to her.  Sure! I say, and we go into the office.  She tells me she wants to hire me - but not full time, only "casual" but it might seem more like full time at times, and when can I start?  Sooo, she gave me paperwork, a uniform and asked me to start Monday at 9:30.  I train for two days, then start work, and she says they call people in by performance, not by seniority, so expect to be called a lot.    So I guess I kinda got almost one week off..........

Oh and the pay is GOOD

Two Random Thoughts that I remembered over the last couple of days:

Is Noon too early to start drinking, or am I waiting too long until noon?

and I'm not buying girls drinks anymore at the bar.  I'm buying them bratwursts...

In Wisconsin you're waiting too long. Not so sure what socially acceptable in North Carolina. We consider every other state to be p***ies when it comes to drinking.

Had an NHL preseason game that started at 1:30 yesterday (10/1).  I'll start drinking as soon as the law allows.  It was just a random thought with so many "business meetings" going on at the game.

Later.
Another Braves loss to the Phillies and San Francisco AND San Diego are both in...Bobby Cox may get to retire on time after-all
