A heated rivalry (Edited 10/13/10 08:02AM by SusanVette)
I use to bowl with a couple Mike and Bev ,Mike a die hard Ohio state buckeye fan he graduated from there, and Bev a die hard Michigan wolverine, she graduated from there, I had them over to watch ohio state vs. micigan a couple of times they are all decked out in thier team colors talk trash to each other, but never seen many couples get along so well and love each other any more, other than game time.I am lucky my wife doesny like sports,so fellow iquers do you and your significant other root for heated rivals or if you dont have a significant other do you think you could get involved with someone that liked a team you couldn't stand

I believe this was one of Jess's recent Daily Questions, if I'm not mistaken.

I have the worst possible rivalry a married couple could have--a diehard football fan, and a spouse that hates watching sports and demands time at a moments notice.

And how long have you been married?  I bow to you, Sir KJartan. A man that stands by his vows.

With the Huskers moving to the Big 10 next year, there will be a whole new population of people I don't like.  (and people who don't like me...)

I couldn't care less about what teams my significant other roots for as long as it's not the Packers.  Those are grounds for a breakup, divorce, and an annulment wrapped into one.

I'm married to an Alabama fan, so sure I could.

never any football issues, but Lakers vs. Spurs... UGH!

also, I'm not sure a Boston fan could take me. I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it.

I was once married to a Gator Fan. Is that why I cannot stand them now?

Depends how hot she is. At least for the first few weeks. After that, no, I wouldn't wanna date a chick who rooted for evil teams. My last girlfriend was from Toronto, whose teams I'm indifferent about, so that was copacetic.

I think you're confusing interesting with self-imposed abuse......

Nah... honestly, I loved that our teams were rivals and any time we rooted for separate teams. It's fun. But it may have been different with a Celtics or Saints fan.

OOR (Imagine that.....), but

I must be in a unique situation then....I get grief during football season in general without having a spouse that's a rival.....  Sometimes I feel like turning on the Sunday night, or Monday night game is like playing Russian roulette with my psychological state of being...LOL!

Hard to tell until it happens.  I could definitely date someone who was a fan of a rival team of mine....it would just depend how deep and competitive it got during the games.  I'm to a point where I don't trash talk much anymore, so, as long as they aren't over the top about it, I think we could jive?
