Do you think NASCAR has told the "boys" to lay off Danica?
"I'm very curious. All of a sudden Danica has been finishing in the top 10 in races, and she is in the top five in points. What is going on with NASCAR and the Nationwide Series? Are they making the guys lay off? Every time NASCAR is mentioned on ESPN, they mention Danica. She's becoming the Paris Hilton of NASCAR -- famous for taking her clothes off." al.com

Was they picking on her? I thought she was being treated just like any other driver. Respect has to be earned.

IMHO, I think they started to respect her more. Right or wrong?

I didn't see any special treatment. In Vegas she had a car that could compete and this is her second trip to that track It's amazing how much better these drivers perform when they return the second time around.

I don't believe NASCAR would EVER ask/tell anyone to "lay off" any driver.  From what I've seen of Danica, she wouldn't want special treatment.  As Mike says, she likely used their notes from last year, and it's no stretch to see her in 5th, I would expect to see her higher, actually, given that only those drivers competing for a championship in the N'wide Series can accumulate points.  She's a good driver, she's simply proving it.  However, there will always be naysayers who will claim she is being handed success, and not earning it.

She is still running the Indy series full time this year, and competing in a few N'wide Races on the off weeks, but everyone I've talked to (actually talked to, in person) thinks she will move to N'wide full time next year.

I didn't see any special treatment either. In fact her Indy win in japan was due to lead car accident, much like NASCAR finish

"Lead car accident?" What are you talking about? The final accident is that race was quite a bit from the finish. I just checked the box score to make sure my memory was right, and the last caution ended on lap 149 of a 200 lap race. That's why the lead pack in that race all had to stop for fuel. They had no chance of saving enough fuel, so they just went full out and hoped for a caution that didn't happen. Danica wasn't the only one trying to win on fuel strategy, but she was the only one who executed the strategy properly, so she got the win.

Nascar is so New Millennium now,  the fact that it's even in discussion is contrary to the point.

No problem. The race was on the middle of the night, after all. Sorry if I sounded a little defensive. I've had these Danica conversations on this site before.

I do not for one minute Nascar asking anyone to "back-off" anyone driver, it is a sport as far as a sport goes one of the greatest in my book!  "She" is just like any other driver and that is what "she" is a driver no one backing off her nor do I believe Nascar asking them too! Come on all just because "she" is a "she" doesn't  mean she can not drive I think "she" will be one to be looking at very soon, and the commercial with her and Dale Jr is cute, also she is looking into doing much more racing with the "boys" next year, respect is earned in almost any sport so same with Nascar, She is right up in the top as far as earning her wings if you watch you'll see she actually has many of the "boys" behind her!
