Things are looking good today. Its sunny here but still a bit chilly. I woke up very refreshed and ready for the day.

So I saw Glee The Sci-Fi Non-Musical this weekend, otherwise known as I Am Number 4.  And it definitely falls into the category of oh what could have been along with the recent Green Hornet.  Nothing like having what looks like a science fiction movie turn into a story of teenage angst and love with the fact dude is an alien being a backstory.. "Oh so we're aliens hwo were force to leave our country, there are nine of us left and we each have powers that when combined can be unbelievably strong? That's amazing and all, but I really wanna talk about how bad I wanna get to second base with the one good looking girl from Glee" What the f*ck? Someone needs to steal that background plotline and make an interesting movie devoid of the lessons of teen bullying, monogamy, and personal liberties..

I pay attention, to things that matter, had Jason made any polls since retiring, I would know about it. Unlike some of these other people around here you will not scare me.  It is official, I have agreed to play softball in a league with some friends. The last time I played I was around 33/34, now twenty years later I am back at it. After the first practice I have made some observations of a few slight differences twenty years makes.

Pre-game/practice warmups:
At 33- you should always stretch and throw some before practice and games.
At 53- don't stretch  nor throw anything. You can only stretch so far and you only have so many throws.

Batting:
At 33- in the 'on deck' circle you should use a couple bats or a bat with a doughnut weight thing on it to prepare for your at bat.
At 53- in the 'on deck' circle you should hold one bat very still and pray that you can swing it when you get to the plate. And don't even think about a doughnut, it completely breaks all your concentration.
At 33- in the batter's box, keep your eye on the ball and follow it all the way to the bat.
At 53- decide to swing way before the pitcher lets go of the ball, it will take that long for your brain to let your hands know that is what you are wanting to do. Yes, it is slow pitch softball.

Base running:
At 33- if the ball is hit on the ground, you have to run; on close plays you may have to take one for the team. 
At 53- If you run to a base, make sure halfway you tell your legs you plan to stop somewhere near that base. Never, ever slide or dive for nothing. Ever.

Playing in the outfield:
At 33- always call pop flies between you and other outfielders. Always backup other outfielders when the ball is hit to them.
At 53- never wear your tri-focal eyeglasses when trying to catch pop flies. And for the first 5 seconds you may think you are running to the ball, you really aren't.

Post-game meeting:
At 33- It's always good to hang around in the parking lot to assess games and practices with other teammates.
At 53- Go directly to your car and start driving, if you stop too long before you get in your car, you may not be able to get in your car.
