Song of the Day 4/7 (Edited 04/18/11 09:23PM by Jess)
Aerosmith is the American hard rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970.
Fronted by the charismatic and craggy faced front man Steven Tyler who, following a self-induced implosion in the early 1980s, went on to stage one of the most successful comebacks in rock history.
They are the best-selling American rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, including 66.5 million albums in the United States alone. They also hold the record for the most gold and multi-platinum albums by an American group. The band has scored 21 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, nine #1 Mainstream Rock hits, four Grammy Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and were included among both Rolling Stone's and VH1's lists of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
* I have chosen the 3 songs below based on my mood today. With so many great songs, it was nearly impossible for me to even just pick these, but I tried to grab one from each decade. This in no way represents what I think is their greatest songs, nor trying to persuade you into it either. Enjoy!

This song is "What It Takes” by Aerosmith (featured on their album “Pump”)

Seriously, I don't know anyone who DOESN'T like Aerosmith.

Got to see them a handful of times, in concert.

Not sure if I have a favorite song but I do like TOYS IN THE ATTICK, a lot!

"What it Takes" is my favorite Aerosmith song.  Everyone thinks that's weird, but I don't care.  It is.

PS - I like the other 2 you posted, too.

Love them.

This one is my favorite. I get chills when I hear it (probably because of the movie Miracle).

Dude looks like a lady....
I just wished that we would have had a chance to hear the music they were going to write for the movie,Crazy from the heat.
Given a $10 million budget to transform a cinematic dreams into reality, but shockingly and regrettably, the film never came to fruition.

This is one of my favorites by Aerosmith, along with Dream On, Angel, and Amazing. It never gets old on me.

I totally wanted to squeeze Angel in there today too but I felt 3 was pushing it (even with such an awesome band).

I love Aerosmith so much. My parents tell stories of when I was 3 years old running around singing Dream On, and it's still one of my very favorite songs. My dad had all of their stuff on vinyl in his collection up to a certain point; a huge collection of which my mom still has in her possession, waiting for my brother and I to come divvy up. I went to see them in concert about 12 years ago and was somewhat disappointed...they only performed for about an hour and didn't even come out for an encore. They were great, but I would have liked to (and kind of expected to) have seen a longer show.

Livin' on the Edge is another one of my favorites.

I absolutely love all your stories you tell about your life and the memories certain songs bring up for you. I think we are all kind of the same way too (at least I know I am). Another thing that really does it for me too are certain smells, from gasoline/diesel/jet fuel, to the springtime air right before it rains, foods, and so on. Thanks for sharing your personal stories Jess!

P.S - I  Living on the Edge too!

Thanks! I worked for the #1 Dodge and #2 GM dealership in the world..both Chrysler and GM sponsor a lot of concerts. The general manager's wife and I were great friends, so I was blessed to be able to attend almost all of the concerts sponsored by them, for free...that's probably the only thing I really miss about that place besides the people.

Music incites loads of memories...it's a huge part of my life and always has been, because it's a huge part of my parents' life. And I'm the same way mostly with smells.
