I only picked the Wings because I'm tired of all those west coast 10 p.m starting playoff games....

Actually I picked them because most of the Original Six teams are in the East. I miss seeing Boston, Montreal, Toronto, and New York and the Wings play. The only thing that would royally suck about them moving to the East is losing the Chicago rivalry
If they can keep those games I'm all for it!

My pick was easy. Even out the conferences.

as a Coyotes fan, I'd like to see it be the Red Wings, but it will most likely be Columbus.

I wouldn't really care one way or another but I'm betting it'll be Nashville.

Nashville seems logical.

I'd like to see Detroit, but it won't  happen.  If Detroit wants better time zone games (ie eastern conference type of thing), I believe they will have to get rid of the whole east vs west thing and go to an american/national league type thing (not a bad idea).

Out of the other , I'd prefer Nashville but I think Columbus would be first because they are an Eastern time zone, where Nashville is Central.  As they were discussing on local radio here today also, it might depend on where Phoenix goes, so they don't have to reallign again.

I believe it's a "Wait Til Next Year" moment right now.

I've heard that since the schedule is already made for next year, this realignment won't happen until the 2012-2013 season.  I think Nashville is the easy solution.  Yes, they're central time, but they are in the Southeast of the U.S. anyway.  Move the Thrashers (now Winnipeg) to the Central division, and put the Preds in the Southeast division.  Columbus would make things a bit more hairy geographically.  I would think the NHL wants to try to keep the divisions as geographically sound as they are now, which means moving Detroit to the East makes no sense at all.  Now if the Coyotes also move, they may wind up in Kansas City where a new arena is already built.

The easternmost team in the western conference is Columbus.  So if you go only by geography, the Jackets make the most sense.

What I'd like to see is moving Colorado to the Pacific and Dallas to the Central.

Which would leave Minnesota the only US based team in the NW division.  And I heard they really want out of that division.  But something tells me that isn't going to happen.

Whatever happens, some team is not going to get what they hoped they would.

And finally, if Detroit moves to the east, they would be in the Finals every year!

The Red Wings have been after Betman to move them to the east for some time. According to owner Mike Illitch, he was told the Wings were 'next in line' if there was a re-structuring. Betman, as usual, denies saying this, so it's up in the air. Geographically Nashville would be the best bet, but the Wings should be the team to move to due to there seniority in the league.
