Weekend Filter Error 09/03
Welcome back. This is the part of the locker room where you can sit and chat and chill for a while without offending or being shushed. Maybe you wanna watch a dvd or listen to your mp3. Yes, I rhymed. Something on your mind, post it! Random question, ask it? Hijacking is allowed and encouraged. Join the party, troll around, have a beer. It's cool. All are welcome, but please leave all BS in the hall.

Friday's filter is a bit too long to carry over through Monday. Have a good weekend people. Enjoy your college football.

Because I had no recollection of why we celebrate this day that doesn't involve a war, freedom, or special person's d.o.b.:

The first big Labor Day in the United States was observed on September 5, 1882, by the Central Labor Union of New York.[1] It became a federal holiday in 1894, when, following the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U.S. Marshals during the Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland reconciled with the labor movement. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike.[2] The September date originally chosen by the CLU of New York and observed by many of the nation's trade unions for the past several years was selected rather than the more widespread International Workers' Day because Cleveland was concerned that observance of the latter would stir up negative emotions linked to the Haymarket Affair, which it had been observed to commemorate.[3] All U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and the territories have made it a statutory holiday.

I almost died this morning.  I stepped outside my front door to get my paper and a car passed me. If I had been 40 feet further, it would have run me over for sure.

I got a much-needed haircut this morning.  The barber told me as he was cutting "man that top was long!  I didn't even ask, I just said to myself that's gotta go."  He's gotten to know me enough to know I hate when my head starts looking like a mop.  There's supposedly some "flame and fireworks spectacular" after the Pitt game tonight, there's a bunch of propane tanks on the river under Heinz Field that, along with the fireworks and synchronized music, are supposed to shoot flames anywhere from 3-100 feet in the air.  That stuff sounds more dangerous than the fireworks!  Maybe I'll get to see some of it after I'm half (or more) drunk from the wedding.

The unions used to be good, before there was a minimum wage and work conditions were poor. Now the unions suck because they have too many self entitled lazy f's that don't want to have to do anything and want more on top of it. I think nowadays the holiday helps represent the people who work in more of the traditional "private sector" as opposed to having federal legal union representation to demand anything they choose. And the gov't has always tried to tell you how you can , or more specifically can not,  "use your V". After all, it or the quest for it, is the dominate force for EVERYTHING that happens in this world and to control that helps to control the masses. I love your point of view and the question you asked. Lastly, I agree 100%. PEOPLE SUCK!

There are lazy workers in all sectors. I agree something needs to be fixed--------in terms of getting rid of those not doing their job (in my case......tard teachers who take jobs away from more competent ones just because of seniority), but they are still needed---especially in education.

This was from last night for the Summer Pops, synchronized to the music of the 1812 Overture.  Includes cannon fire form the shore.  I was taking photos with my regular camera before I got my phone out to take this, so not the complete show.

I'm going to be helping out tonight, so I hope to shoot more video from the barge.

So I couldn't see any of the shooting flames, and barely saw a glimpse of the fireworks through some tiny holes in the trees.  Bad place to see the fireworks, but you could sure hear them being right up the street.  This was one of the shortest ceremonies I've ever been to, and thank you Jesus because it got up to 95 here today, and it was a freakin' OUTDOOR wedding!  Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were inside, then the reception was back outside!  The song choices really made me do a double take though.  The procession walked in to "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz.  I couldn't stop quoting the 40-year-old Virgin in my head as they processed out to Viva La Vida by Coldplay...really?  Those two songs for walking down the aisle and back at a wedding?!

I can't wait to read the book.  I will probably put myself on the wait list at the library so I can tackle all the books I've purchased at various book sales recently.   I have nowhere else to start stacking books without looking like Sanford & Son lives here.  It's time to buy a new bookshelf.

Is it because I'm a Pirates fan?  My Pirates just (attempt to) play baseball.  All you have to do is extend your ARRRRRS.

Looking like my spring hockey trip will be to Dallas.  I may not be going to Nashville this year, but I'm wanting to catch hockey across the country, so this will be one more team at home off my list.

Worked at the golf course today.  The boss's wife got all bitchy at some really good friends and attempted to get me in some deep sh** because of it, but the friends and the boss saw thru it and saved my poor white ass.  I love my friends.

Saw people today I haven't seen in a couple of years and got caught up.  It was THE BEST.  Even the bitch couldn't ruin that.  Made $40 in tips, then paid my daughter and her friend the same $40 for cleaning the trailer and my truck.  Both look totally awesome, so it was $40 well spent.

NASCAR race was postponed to Tuesday.  Of course I work Tuesday.  Watching IZOD Indy at Baltimore and Simona was running 3rd for quite a while, which I knew would make gearhead's night, but she's back in 14th now   She has really impressed me in the races I've seen.  Danica is in 9th with 3 laps to go.  It looks like Willl Power is going to win the race tho (I love his name - I just can't help it)

I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow, so I am having some vodka.  Yay me.

I might be in a bit of trouble.  I taught my nephew how to drink his fruit loop milk out of his bowl today...he asked "You can do that?"
IDK if it's something he hasn't figured out yet, or if it's not allowed at his house.  And if not, my sister should not be so much of a prude!

WTF is he supposed to do? Spoon it up?  Or waste the milk and all that flavor?   I sometimes "battle" my kids for that milk........

I remember. Ugh, I blocked that out. I avoid any of the plots that involve the women really. (Vince's kids are so unattractive btw) But I can't pass a tv with him, The Undertaker, or Big Sexy and not stop.
