I enjoyed most of the movies on this list although some are technically not "Mafia" movies but as kenne said are listed as such on many list because they are organized crime linked and based.  The Godfather and The Godfather 2 to me are a couple of the best movies in any genre ever made so hard not to put them on top for me at least. I enjoy movies on the mafia from cosna nostra to the irish mafia and all in between especially when they are kept somewhat more factual and not altered so much for cinematic reasons.


I think "Kill The Irishman" and "Gotti"  would of been great adds to this list as both were very well done.

 I don't consider Carlito's Way, Scarface, Snatch, Pulp Fiction, or the Usual Suspects mafia movies.

 Ok- we all know The Godfather trilogy is hands down the ultimate gangster movies, there's two you may have not seen that were actually based on real organized crime figures - The Valachi Papers and Mobsters. The Valachi papers was about the first mob stool pigeon Joe Valachi with Charles Bronson and Mobsters was with Slater,Dempsey,Grieco and somebody else- life story of Luciano, Costello. Siegel and Lansky

They are listed as mafia movies on IMDB and other mafia movie sites where I researched my list. Even though they don't focus directly on it. they are mafia involved.

 Every time I rank these movies it changes. I left out the ones that Ash alluded to as well as Casino only because it was like 'getting the band back together.' I love em all tho. Godfather 3 would have been higher if it wasn't for Sophia Copolla.

There was a part like that in Goodfellas, but I remember they did the digging themselves
