Jess's DQ: 2/23/12
Question of the Day: If you had to move away from the town in which you live tomorrow to someplace completely opposite in most ways, what are 3 things about the area that you would miss the most?  (besides family and friends - that's too easy)

1) I would miss the summer in Chicago!  Soo much to do! Cubs games, the entire downtown area has soo much to do, the beaches.

2) Not a fan of Winter, but I would miss going to the Blackhawks and Bears games as well.

3) Chicago Pizza!

1) The mountains, for whatever reason it only feels like home if there are mountains around me

2) Autzen Stadium, there's no place like it on game day

3) The wilderness, I don't know what I would do if I couldn't go into the woods to get away from the masses

1) Smyrna Bar----That's all there is to do around here in Rectal Temperature, Michigan. It's my Cheers, everyone does know my name.

2) The wide open spaces. Although I could do without the deer jumping out of those wide open spaces in to the path of my oncoming truck.

3) The quietness.

Wow....when you live in a $h*thole like the one I'm in, this question really becomes difficult to answer.   I mean, who doesn't like living in an area that is flatter than a runway model's chest, typically has winds in excess of 45 mph (complete with major amounts of sand) requires a 2 hour drive to the nearest Wal-Mart, and has a minimum of two absolut a$$ kicking blizzards a year?

Honestly, can't say I'd miss anything if you took out the Family and Friends. I've actually been contemplating moving back down to Texas or R-Kansas lately for this exact reason. I'd say I would miss the snow....but we didnt even get winter this year
I wouldn't miss anything
#12 | 981 days ago

The mountains and 8 million parks around here

The lack of humidity and the fact we get more sun than Miami

The small town feel of a bigger city
#13 | 981 days ago

1- 24 hour PUBLIC transportation
2- Nightlife
3- Cost of living- its expensive here but no one pays like NYC does!

What I would miss the most is the wonderful secure / safe feeling I have in my current location.  My property backs to a National Park "Arlington Echo" and it's so peaceful in this community. I sit on my deck a lot and just listen to the wildlife. The 3rd thing I'd miss would be the  private beach I can walk to in 5 minutes.  Sometimes I sit there sipping a beer and just watch the waves. Very serene. smiley

It has been a strange winter everywhere this year. I live in Maryland which normally this time of year the average daily high is in the low 40's. It's currently 65 on my deck and was that way yesterday too. Not one snowflake to date for this winter season.

1) My daughters and their herds.
2) The not really an small town and nowhere near a big town feel. It's like a nine month pregnant Mayberry, kinda.
3) The mountains and being only 3 hours from the beach, so I guess the general location of it all.

Moving from the beautiful Willamette Valley in Oregon, I would miss:
1) the seasons - rain doesn't stop you from doing anything, but it makes everything around you more beautiful.
2) the scenery - spectacular, from the mountains to the valleys to the oceans (there is a song in there somewhere...)
3) anything you can think of to do outdoors - fishing, hiking, hunting, camping, walking, bike rides, playing in parks, etc.

1.  Having everything I could possibly want or need within a short distance (shops, beach, mountains, parks, forests, cities, farms, suburbs, etc).

2.  Everyone says NJ drivers are so crazy, but I'd miss it.  Anywhere else I've gone, I think the drivers are WAY worse.  I think that we have so much traffic here that people learn to be WAY better drivers than other less congested areas.  So I'd actually miss NJ drivers.

3.  Culture/diversity ... this area of the country really IS a melting pot, even in the less urban areas.  I can't live with just a bunch of straight, white folk.
