Janie's got a gun.
My youngest daughter got her name from one of my favorite songs and one of my all time favorite t.v. show.
Which of course is  Aerosmiths song and the show 30 something.  I absolutely love her name, Janie Elizabeth.  My oldest daughter katie, got her name from my mother Kay and my brother's middle name Lyn. I like her name but I was on morphine when I named her and it ended up being, Katie Lyn Bowlin, so 1 to many lyn's.  (this is why I pre named Janie)

I got my name because my father wanted a boy named Glen. He got a tomboy named Glenda instead. Janie's got a gun. Photo

How did your kids get their names, or, how did you get your name?

My brother and I both have very Croatian first names.

My daughters name is Marina because out of 7,000,000 names it was the only one we could agree on. Little did my ex know, Marina is also a Croatian name.

My oldest Victoria was named by her dad as a butt kissing to his mother Vickie, I called her Tori from day one and the name stuck, so I won anyway. Krystil Amber was named by her father, I wanted to name her Lily. Joshua Aaron is my bible name kid, and Jack William is my grandpas' named kid.

My name is Laurel because it means tree.   They knew I was gonna be tall and have small t*ts.
  1. A Mediterranean evergreen tree (Laurus nobilis) having aromatic, simple leaves and small blackish berries

Hmm, lobotomy sounds greek to me.

Ryan because I dig girls having boys names, and I wanted a boy. Her middle name is after my sister who died.

Stephanie Jade~I named her. Her dad wanted Mariah, I won!
Sierra Brooke~Her dad named her after the Sierra Nevada mountains
Sabreena Noelle~Was supposed to be Samantha but my crazy ass sister in law was pregnant at the same time I was and decided to name her daughter that. She was born a month before my daughter.
#13 | 891 days ago

they wanted a boy and to name me "stanley." luckily, i'm a chick, so they dropped the "stan," left the "ley," and spelled it the right way for a girl. so leigh.

My parents almost named me Angel. Though I dislike my name, I always tell myself it could be worse. I don't know how they came up with it - mom said it wasn't all that common back when I was born, and she thought it was pretty. My middle name is basically the female spelling of my great grandpa, grandpa, and uncle's name - I'm pretty sure that's where they got that, since my brother shares a middle name with my father and other relatives on that side.

My daughter's name...Kiernan came from a street sign. No joke. My husband and I were driving around the city looking for a specific address of an apartment we were supposed to move into, and we kept hitting the same cross streets. Augustus, Francis, Julius, etc. - we were laughing because we were in "rich fat kid neighborhood" (yes, we're going to Hell). Then out of the blue there was a cross street named Kiernan. We both stopped laughing and I said "well that's a really cool name". About 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant, and we both remembered and loved the name, so I looked it up to make sure it wasn't anything bad somewhere. It's actually a common Irish surname, so that worked. Avery - I don't know, we played with a few different middle names and thought Kiernan Avery just had a pretty ring to it. She probably disagrees when she's in trouble.

My name has no significance. At all. The only thing I DO know is that I was a boy, I would have been named Russ.

My brother's name is Michael, so I think my parents might have been going for a Jacksons theme.  I like to think if there were more of us, they would have kept it alive with Tito, Jermaine, LaToya, etc.

My Mom and my Aunt were both pregnant with my cousin and I at the same time. They loved the name "Cathy Lynn" and made a bet whoever had their baby first and it was a girl, they got to use "Cathy Lynn".  Thank God, my cousin was born first!  She got that name, it fits her and I can't imagine my name being Cathy. (Not that I dislike the name...it just doesn't fit me :)
Sooo, I got named Judy Dianne after another Aunt which led to a house full of confusion at my maternal Grandmothers at Christmas (God rest her sweet soul)  Her 2 step sons married girls named Judy, my Uncle & Aunt (Judy I got my name from) had a daughter named Judy Ann.  At Christmas, someone would say "Judy" and all 5 of us would say "Yes?" LOL  I ended up with the nickname - Judy 3 times, rofl  Instead of Judy Judy Judy - off Gomer Pyle???   one of my sweet step Uncles shortened it to Judy 3 times.
Gosh...this poll led me to some fond memories! *S*

Lillian(ex-wife's grandmother) Suzette(ex-wife's mother) Blanche(ex-wife's other grandmother)
-she had our daughters name picked before we even met, so there was no talking her out of anything. Looking back, I does kind of piss me off that she could be so selfish.

Trevor(good sports name, I had this picked before hand) Vernon(my grandfather) Wade(ex's baby brother killed in car crash)

Brian(ex's friend dying of cancer) David(my father) Scott(old family sur-name, Clan Scott)
-I had a little more imput on the boys' names

We nickname our kids our Legion of Chaos...Havok, Mayhem, Disorder, and Hysteria.  (for the record, youngfool is Mayhem.)  And since the wife doesn't wish me to speak ill of their real names, I'll refer to their nicknames here.

Havok and Hysteria are named for my wife's grand parents.   (Hysteria's middle name is Melody, a name I have always liked due to years playing music; a trait she has picked up as well.)

Mayhem is named for both his grandfathers, his first name was my fathers middle name, his middle was my wife's fathers first name.  (Also, we mispelled both. Not sure if that was on purpose or accident.)

Disorder was more random.  His first name means Healer (we weren't hoping anything, honest, although he would like to be an EMT), his middle name means ruler of the elves.  I only chose the first name because it sounded good with the middle, flowed well.
