I don't know about you, but I always have to get an appetizer when I go out to eat, especially some specific restaurants I frequent...

Not a big appetizer guy, but I love a salad before dinner.  So if that counts...that's my vote.

I also order wings as my meal at chain places, though that isn't very often.

Back home it was always bruschetta. We liked the way different places prepared it slightly differently. Down here for the same reason it's calamari. There's a place a block from me that fries them with jalapenos & serves them with a few different dipping sauces. It's winning, close second is the way they do it at the bar/restaurant at The Ellis. They don't always have them tho.

I rarely order an appetizer because then I can't finish the main course, sometimes when I go out with the girls we order those that have a variety of things to share, mostly mexican food. The appetizer we order more often  is a sea and earth molcajete, it has quesadillas with chorizo, fried beans, carnitas, stuffed jalapeños, shrimp, etc. That way we don't eat too much befofe we order our dishes.  Something similar to this:

I always look for a mushroom appetizer at every restaurant or something with seafood.  And if the restaurant offers an appetizer of something i have never tried i'll usually get that , so if i dont like it then its simply an appetizer lost and not a main course.

I rarely get an appetizer unless it's gonna be all I eat with my drinks. If I do happen to buy one for the table it's usually spinach artichoke dip or mozzarella sticks.

I ususally go chicken wings, but at the last place I worked we did a Irish Egg Roll, It was a Reuben sandwich rolled up in an egg roll wrapper and deep fried. The other restaurant the company owns did a cream cheese pesto dip, f**king delicious. Can't ever go wrong with chili cheese onion rings.

My two favorites are mozzarella sticks or fried calamari, but I love pretty much any appetizer.  I'm a foodie.

The wife and I like the samplers, where you get a little of everything. We are partial to anything onion and fried with dipping sauces.

I'm a big fan of dips. I love crab dips, queso dips, spinach artichoke dips, whatever. And I can always tell if I'm going to like the food at a Mexican place by their salsa. I also always get bruschetta if the place has it - that's my very favorite and like Marcus said, is a little different everywhere you go.

Sometimes I'll get fried stuff, but not often. If I'm going fried, I do prefer different stuff (not huge on french fries), like green beans, zucchini, green tomatoes, etc...and sometimes mozz sticks, but not always. Depends on the place and the batter.

I`m not an appetizer guy but will pick off other peoples plates at the table or other tables if the people happen to be in the can. :) BTW I went to a restaurant this weekend for the first time, don`t want to say the name for legal reasons but it rhymes with Hillis and our clothes still smelled like their food 2 days later! :(

I am a big fan of poppers, but I prefer to make them at home. The problems with restaurant poppers, gutted thereby removing a large amount of the heat. They tend to use cream cheese, I prefer to use a Mexican cheese. They deep fry using too much breading, I prefer baked. Occasionally(90% of the time) I will wrap them in bacon.

I'm sure I'm about to get a big "eeewww" from a lot of folks.  My favorite restaurant here is called Vietnam Kitchen.  I either get the turnip cakes (winter) or the veggie spring rolls (spring/summer).

If I'm at the Irish Rover, I get Bubble and squeak (fried potato cakes) with the hot mustard.  Delicious.

I don't really eat at the national chains much because I'm a big supporter of local business.  I like fried pickles  or onion straws at the local bbq place.

My appetizer of choice (since I don't drink much) is of the alcohol kind-----some "reads yummy" mixed drink or if it's a place with a lot of beer options.....beer or Guinness.

I do occasionally order Edamame, if they have it. PF Chang's or the poor man version ---Pei Wei's has the best.

Pei Wei's sounds like a fake Chinese restaurant on the Simpson's, lol. Asian dude in a grey suit and red bow tie. All the tables and chairs have big novelty googly eyes and if you order the secret menu item of the day the place goes nuts with confetti, bells, whistles, etc.

[goofy Liz lemon voice] I want to go to there.
