Okay fellow iquers we had a man here in the Charlotte area arrested for hoarding animals they found 105 dogs most of them was either sick or malnurished they have been taken to the shelter to determine which ones can be saved and adopted out and which ones cant, and this is his second time being arrested for this.Don't mind telling you this really irritates me ,so my question is what should be his punishment that is handed down by the courts

Depends on his situation...if he is taking in abandoned animals and giving them shelter and food and became overwhelmed its one thing...but if he just had dogs and cats to have dogs and cats, well thats another thing.  My guess is he was trying to do some good for the animals.

Was the charge "hoarding animals"?
#2 | 381 days ago

I think they should duct tape him to the floor just as you go into a Best Buy store on Black Friday at 5:00am.

I was going to say, feed him to the malnourished animals.

Then I read Derms' post, and who knows, maybe he was just an idiot whose heart was in the right place.

Yeah, somehow I think he may just be the cat lady (but with dogs) of the neighborhood....

The problem is most of these animal horders love all the those animals. They dont mean to let the animals get to that point but it always ends up happening. I think its a sickness and I actually feel bad for the horders, they mean well, it just sucks for the poor animals. I dont think criminal charges should be brought against the owners who look like they just let things get out of hand as opposed to the Michael Vick type owners who intend on abusing the animals.

Sorry guys, it's animal abuse pure and simple. If children were found starving and sick people would be all shades of pissed off.  There is no difference. I do not care if you are a hoarder or just plain ignorant. You have to know when you are hurting another living thing.  Animals truly have no voice, they cannot pick up a phone and call for help, they cannot tell anyone what's happening to them.

And, since this is his SECOND offense the man knew what he was doing. I think jail time for neglect and abuse of animals is what he deserves.

But not 20 years. That was just the option. One month for every abused dog on his place should be sufficient.

The difference is we don't have all of the details. At least, it doesn't seem like it.

I doubt he would've even attempted to feed 105 children. He may have really been attempting to take care of 105 (that's a nice round number) dogs.

Also, dogs and kids, not the same (to me).

Animals and children and Gods most precious and innocent victims.  Animals can't speak up for themselves, they look to humans for love, care, understanding and nourishment.  I believe he deserves a fine, jail time, but first, he deserves to be left out in the cold, or hot weather without food or water with no help and no way to get to it for a very long period of time!

We do know this is his second offense. There was 105 starving and neglected dogs.  It is abuse.  There is no way in hell you don't know you are hurting those animals.

And dog's and kids may not be the same thing. But both need the protection of those who abuse either.

His second offense of trying to care for too many dogs? Okay. I guess I'm not sure he is intentionally doing anything wrong, so I find it hard to condemn him based on a snippet of the truth in a captain poll.

But it's the only snippet we have. So based on it, seriously, this man cannot honestly believe he wasn't hurting animals.  You cannot watch animals deteriorate and find a way to somehow rationalize it.  And I would be way more lenient if this was a first offense.

I have raised both, children and animals. They are both defenseless against humans that choose to hurt them.

I bow my head to you to me you are right on,abuse is abuse there isn't any such thing is I didn't mean to abuse them, besides he had loads of time to call the shelter and animal protection and get help, thats the trouble eith today society we don't hold people accountable for their actions

even though everyone is entitled to their own view just remember abuse by any other name is abuse.I have been on a animal protection case I volunteered to help transport and clean up after they discovered 65 dogs,43 cats and some horses at this farm it was heart breaking and several of the animals had to be put down ,when you see something like that first hand you will get a different perpective

I don't need to keep anything in mind, really. I don't agree with animal abuse, I'm not advocating the sh**, I just prefer not send someone to jail for 20 years without more information. You may be absolutely correct, but I don't know it, so I shall reserve my judgment.

Chances are pretty good that like derms said the guy just got outta control trying to help strays but that's why there is the SPCA... Take them there so they be well cared for... If in fact he was breeding them he needs a lot of jail time.

It was his second offense is correct...so you really think the guy gets off on starving dogs to death?  Highly DOUBTFUL.  Again, I believe the man got in over his head.  And nobody stopped to help him.  This isn't hanging dogs or drowning them to death..a la Mike Vick...This was a man who couldn't AFFORD to take care of the animals.  WHO HERE CAN AFFORD VETERINARY CARE for 100 dogs?  If you say that you can, WTF are you doing on Faniq?

Why didn't he call the aspca and have his dogs removed before they became so sick that some of them had to be put down? No animal lover would ever sit and just watch their animals starve to death. And I have three dogs because I can afford them. I sure as hell can't afford over 100 which is why I would never have that many.  And I didn't realize you had to be in a certain income bracket to be on the Q. Thank you for telling me that, cause now I do.

maybe he doesn't have a phone...My point is multi millionaires aren't sitting around on their computers and checking out Faniq locker room polls...and now you know!  And I in no way believe this man was willingly and sadistically torturing these dogs.  This thing happens everyday, whether we, as animal lovers, want to believe it

Starving a dog is torture. And my mom may be a multi millionaire but I am not. Now, if I ever become one I imagine I will still be in this locker room.

your mom is a multi millionaire? Sounds like one day you may be. My advice would be to stay out of the locker room and travel or donate some of that money to the ASPCA

derms seriously, you don't think that starvation and neglect are forms of torture?  And if this is this man's second offense, do you really believe he didn't know what he was doing was wrong?

I believe he was overwhelmed/ I guess you think they should all be euthanized to end their suffering. Cause you know, thats humane. He gave them a chance. His money ran out. again, this is all speculation because i try and see the good in people

You cant go to jail for 20 years. The only way you can be in jail for more than one year is if you are awaiting trial or sentencing.
