I already have DirecTV and I love them. I hate cable...and you don't even want to get me started on my internet cable company. I'd have to kick myself off of the site for use of profanities.

I'd probably pick Discovery and ID - I watch all of these except ESPN but I think I watch those two the most. (I haven't watched ESPN since we started getting NFL network...and now we get NHL and MLB networks too. Miso Happy.) The one I'd probably miss most of those I'd be giving up would be the History channel.
Who's bright idea was this?

I have been considering Direct TV which was kinda the reason for the poll. They claim 99% of all US households get great reception. I live in a very rural area that gets low cell signals so I'm concerned that I won't be able to get the reception needed for the NFL Sunday Ticket. Are you aware of people in a similar situation as mine to reassure me I should be ok?

I've never had any issues with DirecTV and I've lived in a couple of pretty rural areas with low cell signals (with AT&T anyway...no issue with Verizon now). The cell signals have more to do with towers though, and even if there are no towers in the area, your dish will be fine due to the fact that it runs off satellite instead. Anyway, in the areas I've lived, I've had more issues with my signal in Florida than anywhere else, because it rains in buckets here...and the only time I have issues with it is during huge rain storms. Wind doesnt affect it like it seems to affect my mom's Dish network (or did, they may have gotten better). Like they say, as long as there's a clear view of the southwestern (or southern?) sky, you'll have reception.

In fact, I'm seriously considering going to Hughesnet for my internet when I move...next month we're moving to a very isolated area and I've been told DirecTV reception is fantastic, wind and rain, clouds and all and that they have issues with the cable company out that way.

I guess I would take ESPN and Comedy Central and watch less TV. I would want those for when I need something on while I am napping...

I had DIRECTV for 7 years until I moved recently. The Townhome I live in is not setup for it and it would of cost me $500 for a custom install.  So I'm stuck with Crapcastic!

The 2 channels that I would pick are Comedy Central & The History Channel.

I guess it would have to be Discovery and History Channels. We dont watch a lot of TV and if there is a game on ESPN I really want to watch I can go to my favorite sport bar and watch it there.

I would change cable companies.....on a side note, because i've lived all over the place I have been able to sample time warner, dish, directv, comcast, & att uverse.....they all had their good and bad points. I'm a Dish customer at the moment and have been happy so far.

I have regular basic cable(Mediacom) -- I miss ESPN and all the classic TV shows from 'yesterdecades' ago!

#19 | 863 days ago

TNT and ESPN- - - - got to keep my NBA!!!
#20 | 863 days ago

History Channel sucks now.  Sorry, but Ice Road Truckers, Real Housewives of Iceland, and all that jazz aren't historical in any way.  ESPiN is pure crap too.  The only good thing that station has going for it is Skip Bayless.  Guy is pure genius.

I'll go with Comedy Central and Discovery.  I can't live without Shark Week or random 1* comedies from the 80's.

If all I get is local channels and two of the listed ones, I'd have to go with ESPN because the Blazer games are blacked out unless the Rose Garden is sold out and the big 3 networks sports coverage sucks balls!!  I'd also go with Discovery.

On a sidenote, DirecTV is awesome... I live in a hollow (we call them 'ravines' out on the best coast) and get no cell service, but I have yet to miss out on any of my favorite shows due to a bad sat signal.
