OK, this it totally off topic and I hate hijacking your thread, Captain, but here goes.  My little bro turned 21 today and I was talking with a friend last night about the big day.  She asked me what I did for my 21st.  Well I was in college at the time.  We went to a bar called Firehouse.  It was THE Tuesday night spot on Campus.  Anyhoo, I shed a tear when I heard it burned down.  It's now called The Library, but it's just not the same.  So many memories up in smoke (literally).

Here's a pic.  Blew my mind when I saw it on the Chive.

Speaking of subs, here's a good pickup line - "Baby do you work @ Subway?  Cuz you just gave me a foot long!"

Now on to your question....my favorite sammich shop is a little hole in the wall deli that serves the FINEST meats and cheeses.  The bread is shipped in from the NY/NJ area and although it's not as fresh as it is out east, it's still damn good.  The bread, people...it's all about the bread.

I'll get Quizno's once in a while. I don't like Jimmy Johns or Subway. With those places you get one thin strip of lunchmeat and a pound of lettuce. If I wanted a salad, I would order a salad.

Subway Club.
Jersey Mike's is cool.... usually ham and turkey something, light lettuce, tomato, extra olives and all the peppers.
Jimmy Johns is dry and awful.
Publix subs are great.
Best sandwich from a "sandwich shop" I've had in a while was from Which Wich.

Down in Cajun country we call em Po-Boys and i always go to an old mom and pop spot down here that sells some massive po-boys. They have a good variety but i always get either the meatball/marinara (all homemade) ,pastrami. or fried oysters.

They are fantastic !

I find subway is about as "sub"-par as it  gets indecision

YOU call them hoagies, we call them subs.

I usually get mine from local places, not a huge fan of the franchises around here.  I love a good tuna, swiss/provolone, lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar sub.  Mmm.

I would go to Milano's, it's a family owned and ran sub and pizza place that's carry out only. I always order the Italian Cheesesteak. It has fried onions and green peppers and smothered in their homemade marinara sauce and provolone cheese. It's extremely good. Mmmmmm

Subtract the marinara and add some mushrooms, and I would be in love with that sub.

here we have most of the franchises but we have hig priced famous deli's here- Carnegie, Second Ave,  Katz, seinfeld's soup nazi. I prefer a chain of Irish pub's called Balrney Stone's where they give approx 1lb of meat on your sandwiches. My fav is corned beef & pastrami w/ swiss, kraut, lett & tomotoes on rye- - -- the good ole artery clogging type sandwich yes

I usually go to the Downtown Publix deli and have them make one. They use Boar's Head meats and cheeses, always have a special on something, and they fix it however I want it. The whole trip takes about 10 minutes and I am back at work looking at you folks.

Jersey Mike's is the best sub around here. On base,  there is a place called Robin Hood's and it has gone down hill since I first tried it, used to be THE best sandwich shop anywhere.
