SHOULD MLB ALLOW INSTANT PLAY REVIEW TO BECOME A RULE IN DISPUTES BETWEEN PLAYERS N REFEREE'S TO DE (Edited 02/17/13 04:14PM by SusanVette)
WHATS YOUR TAKE ON THIS SUBJECT ?:
WHEN YOU WATCH A PLAY THAT YOU KNOW IS A STRIKE  BUT THE REF CALLS IT A BALL OR A NO-PLAY OR WHEN A RUNNER GETS TO A BASE JUST AN INSTANT BEFORE THE BALL AND AND EVERY ONE KNOWS THE THAT THE REF CALLED THE WRONG PLAY ?    DON'T YOU EVER  WISH  THAT THERE WAS A PANEL OR A JUDGE THAT WAS NON-BIAS WITH BETTER THAN PERFECT EYE SIGHT THAT  THEY WOULD REVIEW THAT PLAY WHEN A DISPUTE IS CALLED INTO ACTION AND REVERSE THE REFEREES DECISION ,BUT ONLY ALLOW A CERT IAN NUMBER OF CALLS PER SIDE AND IF THE REF WAS RIGHT..... THEN CHARGE THE TEAM OR PLAYER WITH A PENALTY OF SOME KIND.... BUT....... IF THE REF IS WRONG... REWARD THE TEAM OR PLAYER  ?
THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT THIS THAT WE AS FANS CAN SEE THAT THE REFS DON'T SEE OR SOMETHING ALTOGETHER JUST WRONG... I THINK A PANEL OF VIDEO JUDGES SEPARATE FROM EITHER OF THE TWO TEAMS PLAYERS AND THEIR STATES SHOULD DECIDE THE OUT COME OF THE RED FLAG DISPUTE  AND THEN JUST MAYBE A LOT LESS COACHES WILL NOT BE KICKED OUT OF THE GAME OR MAYBE THEY WILL ..  DEPENDING ON TEMPERS....LOL
WELL THERE'S MINE NOW WHATS YOURS......?

No instant replay sucks, needs to be eliminated from use now. It really it a waste of time and I know I have heard people say well, we need it for HR balls and plays at the plate. Seriously???? NO is the answer, on HR balls if the fools who design and approve the stadiums have a clear distinction from where the balls needs to clear to make it a HR and please do not go with what about the ones down the line. One you do not get a clear shot down the line on those shots and you are talking less then 10 of them a year, which the Umps would get correct 8 of them. You want more use a 6 man rotation so you have them down the line, and see the shots over the wall better.

Also when it comes to fixing these calls, (like the Dodgers game or the no-hitter that was not) MLB needs to pressure the umps more and the schools that owning your call would stop people from believing you do not know what you are doing out there.  What I am saying it is taught right or wrong you stick with your call and do not get help on normal calls which would be close plays at first. If MLB put more pressure that this needed to be done more of the mistakes would be corrected so instant replay would not be needed there.

Plays at home are the same thing, if the umpires are taught is school and work on it through the minors for a sign so if other umpires can signal they saw something different so that there could be a conference, to correct calls.

The fool Nomar talked about how instant replay is used in little league and he fail to mention that before they use replay a conference must be done agmonst the umpires then if the coach still does not agree could ask for the replay. 98% of the time when the umpires got together the call stood so yammering over the other 2% is beyond childish. If a bunch of volunteers can get it right that often MLB could get theirs to do it also without instant replay. BWT Nomar if he does it again know the rules prior to being a analyst for Little League again. It gets old hearing you get the rules wrong,

For all these others who want to complain, that the mistakes made lost my team a game, there is 162 games in a season if your team was that good it would rise to the top. Also these players who complain I would love to have a replay when I watch them take a sorry swing, or jog the bases and make mental errors like outs, or where to throw the ball. Forget the errors that goes between he legs, a bad hope where that happens. That is what makes the game so beautiful and fun to watch knowing no matter how good a team is mistakes happen and the winner is the one who capitalize on the mistakes. UMPIRES are a team.

BTW if UMPIRES really called balls and strikes by the rules the players really would yammer about high strikes and that box you see how TV does not always call them correct, especially balls which have a lot of movement on them.

Cannot stand instant replay and anyone who wants to go game by game I am sure that we can see many more plays either in the field or at bat where a team fail to do their job to win the game, so to hang onto one call here or there is silly.

As for getting throw out you are talking about a bunch of Priam Donna's who believe I am great and there is no way that was right, no matter what that player believes or says,
MLB RULE 9.01(d)
Each umpire has authority to disqualify any player, coach, manager, or substitute for objecting to decisions or for unsportmanlike conduct or language, and to eject such person from the playing field. If an umpire disqualifies a player while a play is in progress, the disualification shall not take effect until no further action is possible in that play.

You should have had as one of the answer above

NO INSTANT-REPLAY!!!!Now quit your yammering pansies

NO HERE ARE THE REASONS WHY....

For the panel idea, sorry I should have had it in the other one, look at boxing UFC and NFL, even those who watch the same video do not agree or calls, and which fighter won a round. So now you would sit there and say how did they sit there and see it that way.

If we are going to do that, we mind as well get rid of players and and just watch two people play video game so we can take out the human error of the players too!!

I'd rather have no IR at all.  Quite frankly, as has been said before, if umpires would be more open to getting extra help on calls this really wouldn't be as big an issue.  So I say get better umpires then there is no need for IR.

However, that being said, looking at home run calls I don't have too much of a problem with.  But the current process ought to be sped up.  All 4 umps do not need to leave the field to a room to view the play.  They can look at one of the TV cameras right there on the field.  There could be a replay ump in a studio in New York to handle it.  Hell, in the NHL (when they actually play) EVERY goal is reviewed in the League office in Toronto.  A similar deal could be done for MLB home runs and it would speed the process up considerably.  But anything more than what is done now I am dead set against.  And STILL in favor of better umpires.
NO ITS FINE THE WAY IT IS.
