Welcome back. This is the part of the locker room where you can sit and chat and chill for a while without offending or being shushed. Maybe you wanna watch a dvd or listen to your mp3. Yes, I rhymed. Something on your mind, post it! Random question, ask it? Hijacking is allowed and encouraged. Join the party, troll around, have a beer. It's cool. All are welcome, but please leave all BS in the hall.

I'm so blah right now, I refuse to put in the effort to change this poll. Have a good weekend.

I've been saying it for years, I will never go to Mexico.. It's a like Mad Max come to life but with more aggressive gangs/cartels.  Violet, is there an actual thunderdome in Mexico City? Anyway, here's how the police protect and serve down there

I watched the Dream Team doc last night and rather enjoyed it (I was a huge basketball fan back in those days) but I thought it could have been put together better since they have had 20 years.  It doesn't help when you have to account for commercial time.  A real movie would have been pretty cool

lol I'm sure there are more than one thunderdome across the country.indecision(One of my favorite movies btw)  I understand if you and many people don't want to visit Mexico, sadly that is reality about mexican police, that's why they never solve a single case, a lot of policemen and people from the goverment are involved, from the lowest to the highest ranks. sad But there are still a lot of good people and good things in Mexico, it's just that all those horrible things overshadow the good ones.

P.S. Have a great weekend everyone. I heartu all, very much.

Happy Friday!!

I have my son for the next 3 weeks. He was supposed to be in summer school but not enough kids signed up for it.

I swear to god, my ex is bi-polar. i already know she's pyscho!  She messes with my son's head all the time and he has the choice to come live with me but chooses to stay with her because all of his friends are there! frown  I try my best to make sure NOT to talk bad about her and to give him advice on things so that he doesn't grow up to be as f**ked up as she is!  He's a pretty smart kid for being, almost 15 yrs old, but still!  (sigh)

Weekend Plans = Swimming tomorrow, then my son and I are going to the CUBS - RED SOX game tomorrow night!
Sunday is Father's Day. So, we will be meeting up with my dad, sister, niece, nephew and hopefully my mom, for lunch and if the weather coops (rain in the forecast), we will go back to my dad's condo for some more swimming!

Hope all the Dad's on here have a great Father's Day!

Hola amigos y amigas!

Happy Friday! I have only been at work an hour but I can already hardly wait for the end of the day. My daughter is getting her new laptop today(her's died), which means she won't be using mine so much. And we are supposed to go eat sushi tonight! :) I haven't had sushi in forever.
Well those are the highlights of my weekend. Hope all the Q dad's have a wonderful Fathers Day!!

Here is my song for today!

"American Boy"
(feat. Kanye West)

[Kanye West:]
Just another one champion sound
Me and Estelle about to get down
Who the hottest in the world right now.
Just touched down in London town.
Bet they give me a pound.
Tell them put the money in my hand right now.
Tell the promoter we need more seats,
We just sold out all the floor seats

[Chorus (Estelle):]
Take me on a trip, I'd like to go some day.
Take me to New York, I'd love to see LA.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You'll be my American Boy.

He said "Hey Sister.
It's really really nice to meet you."
I just met this 5 foot 7 guy who's just my type.
I like the way he's speaking his confidence is peaking.
Don't like his baggy jeans but I'm a like what's underneath them.
And no I ain't been to MIA
I heard that Cali never rains and New York heart awaits.
First let's see the west end.
I'll show you to my brethren.
I'm liking this American Boy. American Boy

[Chorus:]
Take me on a trip, I'd like to go some day
Take me to New York, I'd love to see LA.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You'll be my American Boy

Can we get away this weekend?
Take me to Broadway.
Let's go shopping baby then we'll go to a café.
Let's go on the subway.
Take me to your hood.
I never been to Brooklyn and I'd like to see what's good.
Dress in all your fancy clothes.
Sneaker's looking Fresh to death, I'm loving those Shell Toes.
Walking that walk.
Talk that slick talk.
I'm liking this American Boy. American Boy.

[Chorus:]
Take me to Chicago, San Francisco Bay
Take me to New York, I'd love to see LA.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You'll be my American Boy

Let them know a gwan blud

[Kanye West:]
Who Killing em in the UK.
Everybody gonna to say you K, reluctantly, because most of this press don't f**k with me.
Estelle once said to me, "Cool down, down, don't act a fool now, now."
I always act a fool oww oww.
Ain't nothing new now now.
He crazy, I know what ya thinkin.
Ribena I know what you're drinking.
Rap singer. Chain Blinger.
Holla at the next chick soon as you're blinking.
What's you're persona.
About this Americana Brama.
Am I shallow cause all my clothes designer.
Dressed smart like a London Bloke.
Before he speak his suit bespoke.
And you thought he was cute before.
Look at this peacoat, tell me he's broke.
And I know you're not into all that.
I heard your lyrics I feel your spirit.
But I still talk that CASH.
Cause a lot wags want to hear it.
And I'm feeling like Mike at his Baddest.
The Pips at they Gladys.
And I know they love it.
So to hell with all that rubbish

[Estelle:]
Would you be my love, my love.
Could be mine would you be my love my love, could be mine
Could you be my love, my love.
Would you be my American Boy. American Boy

[Chorus:]
Take me on a trip, I'd like to go some day
Take me to Chicago, San Fransisco Bay.
I really want to come kick it with you.
You'll be my American Boy

We were in the same class in the school but we never had a proper interaction, we were both very shy back then
Eight years after school we talk and discover that we have a lot in common.

The whole thing is still in an early phase but i do like her and i don't want to end up in the friendzone with her.

There is SOOOOO much going on in that second paragraph, lol. Like whoa. Wait. I mean. I can't even. What? It needs to be broken down Dr. Jack style like an awesome screen/roll/backdoor/lob.

1. The nonchalant intro. "So I get invited to a swinger's masquerade..." [spit take]
2. "entertainment agents" "promise" "HBO folks" [I'm pretty sure we're going to here this again on To Catch a Predator]
3. "theme is under the sea" [There's a good chance Leigh puts the moves on her son from 25 years in the future and thinks his name is Calvin. By all means, insert your own Back to the Future swinger party/incest/prom theme joke here. Working in lyrics from the Little Mermaid gets +pts. #UndahDaSEEEEE]
4. The random/ADD/thought bubble call back in the theme explanation. "I don't know anybody from HBO?" [Personally I'm hoping the guy from Arli$$ puts the moves on her]
5. "king tut" "stripper pole" "sarcophagus with an Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider puzzle-like, trigger mechanism" [There's no way there isn't a scene like this in the film version of 50 Shades of Gray or at the very least a National Treasure porn parody.]
6. The mattress floor reveal [Wow. And THAT's not even the money line]

Excellent post. Kramer enshrine this in the QSaidIt hall of fame. During the ceremony we should have Kenne introduce it.

My husband started doing the Insanity? Asylum? something...workout. I need to get my butt to Champs and buy some new shoes so I can do the assessment and get started, but I'm kind of excited/nervous. In the meantime, I started wearing just socks on my elliptical. My shoes are T.U. and I was getting cramps in the site of my foot. Last night I didn't experience that problem at all. Awesome.

Speaking of being a fatty - I had to order pizza last night. I had taken the dish with chicken out and had it sitting, thawing a bit more, waiting for me to finish slicing red peppers, mozz, and tomatoes to bake it, and the stupid little ants that come around this time of year totally took over and had a picnic on my chicken. I know it sounds like a weird euphemism but I swear it's not.

Sooooo...do we have any writers for the Locker Room yet? Hmm? It doesn't have to be celeb news - it can be pretty much anything you think our community might find interesting that's not sports related. But, being LR pollsters in here as it is, you already know this. It also doesn't have to be long drawn out several paragraph articles - something short and fun is sufficient!

Big sports weekend for me with the IndyCar race at Milwaukee, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the US Open, and Euro 2012. Of course, there will also be studying, because that's how it is. Luckily for me, I'm in the middle of the Econ chapter, which is an absolute piece of cake for me. That other major is finally paying off!

Otherwise, meh.

Afternoon, Everybodee!

Been so busy at work, and too tired to even look at my computer when I drag myself home.

Went to meeting last night about our district's summer arts camp.  Daughter is going, along with one other sax player from our school.  (Took both of them to the meeting last night)  Was basically informational on what they need to bring, and the behavior that is expected while they are there.  Camp is up in our local mountains, where most of our kids, including my daughter, went for 6th grade camp.  Ought to be a quiet week with her gone.

Tomorrow, my son (youngest one) is going to take a test to pass out of high school a year early.  I get to do a lot of driving tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure I don't have an Irish bone in my body.  I've got enough Irish friends to have adopted their culture.  I LOVE the Gaelic language and many of the stories of old.  The music and beer are pretty good too (so is the whiskey).  So here's my Irish blessing of the day:
Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.

Under the shelter of each other, people survive.

Bacon recipe of the day!

Grits with cheddar cheese and bacon, along with artichoke hearts and other seasonings.

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup quick grits
  • 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (more or less, to taste)
  • 1 can (14 to 16 ounces) artichoke hearts, chopped, or use frozen cooked artichoke hearts
  • 2 eggs, well beaten

Preparation:

Heat oven to 350° F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.

In a large skillet over medium heat, fry bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels; crumble.

In a large saucepan, combine broth and water. Bring to a boil. Slowly stir in grits. Reduce heat to low; cover and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.

Remove grits from heat. Add the bacon and remaining ingredients; stir well. Pour into the baking dish. Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes, or until set.

Artichoke hearts? In oil or water, or does it matter?

Since it calls for 1 cup of water, I would use the artichokes that are in water and then use the artichoke water from the can to replace some/all of the regular water.

Awesome, this is something Jack would actually eat. I'm going to try it.

I had some kick ass grits in Asheville at http://www.tupelohoneycafe.com/  Made with goat cheese.  OMG good.
It was a shame I had to get full and couldn't finish.

I have to work late all weekend...lovely.  Yesterday I got an email from someone claiming to work in US Sen. Pat Toomey's office.  The email said that my grandmother contacted Sen. Toomey on my behalf asking for help in repaying my student loans.  My response..."That's funny considering I don't have any living grandparents."  As a matter of fact, both of my grandmothers were dead before my parents ever met!  I asked who the person was that claimed to be my grandmother and am waiting for a response.

My life is so full of drama right now and I want no part of it.  People should just get a frickin' life and stay out of mine! Sheesh!

Have a great weekend all.

Serves 8.

Ya know, you really could do a recipe blog...it wouldn't have to be bacon exclusive (unless you wanted it to be). But it would be great to hear from a chef on a regular basis!

I second this. I have a picky eater and the recipe you posted today is simple and doable without spending a lot of money on ingredients.
