A Different World..
A new Country video came out which is what prompted this poll. It's called A Different World by Bucky Covington.
http://youtu.be/HJWEvP9gtww , So it had me wondering what my fellow Qer's remember doing as a child that would most likely never be done by any children / grand children you have or had.

Where did you play and with what?
Were there prayers in school?
Did you have a TV?
Did you do the Pledge of Allegiance in school?
What were your favorite toys?
Did you ever imagine items such as the ipod and GPS systems, smart phones, LCD TV's would exist?

Were there prayers in school? We had prayer in school, I prayed during tests and on a school bus ride home when report cards where passed out.

Did you do the Pledge of Allegiance in school? Yes.

1. BBQ tag w/the honies, lol
2. Yep. I had French nuns as teachers until I moved (see #4) in the third grade. Started every day off with an "Our Father" then ended the day with something different from the Old Testament.
3. Yes. I mean who didn't?
4. It was an Oath after I changed to an English grade school: "On my honour, I promise that I will do my best, To do my duty to God and to the Queen, To help other people, And to keep or promise something something something..."
5. Evel Knievel action figure with the wind up motorbike. It's easily the coolest thing I've EVER owned.
6. The people who invented those things never thought of them as children. How could anyone else?

Did you have a TV?
Yes, I remember my father getting pissed and putting foil on the rabbit ears for better reception. :)

Did you do the Pledge of Allegiance in school?
Yes, we did.

What were your favorite toys?
Spirograph, Easy Bake Oven and and Etch-A-Sketch...in that order. LOL

Did you ever imagine items such as the ipod and GPS systems, smart phones, LCD TV's would exist?
What? I'm still playing Pong on my Atari system and listening to 8 tracks.

I remember saying the pledge of allegiance in school never should have gone away from it,also remember saying a morning prayer never should have gotten away from that, and played hide-and-go-seek everynight we possibly could and no never had a t.v. until I was 10 years old and a ceel phone hell we wasn't even allowed to use the one house phone we had without our parents consent,it sure was different in the 40's and 50's growing up to bad we can't go back there

I think that as soon as you buy one it becomes obsolete. Within the next few months a better one comes out. He has an iPhone 4s now so I will get that when the iPhone5 comes out. He pitches in half...so it's not like he's spolied.

Yes Captain, we said the pledge through all my school years but prayer was taken out when I was in 4th grade and replaced with a moment of silence.. , my grandfather told me to pray silently during that moment of silence because I was upset by it.  As far as the cell phones go the good news is they didn't exist till way into our adult years but yes like you I had to ask permission to use the house phone... Thanks for sharing.. yes

Where did you play and with what? I played outside with neighboring kids. We played jump rope, made mud pies (and even tried eating them, lol, hide 'n seek, football, just whatever we'd find to do.  Had to be home by dark on school nights and 9 pm during school breaks. When weather was bad, we played inside either our house or a neighbors.  With barbie dolls, or games like Monopoly. Wonderful days! *S*

Were there prayers in school? - Yes. Every morning :)

Did you have a TV? We had a black and white...first ones on our road to purchase a TV :)

Did you do the Pledge of Allegiance in school? Every morning :)

What were your favorite toys? My barbie dolls.

Did you ever imagine items such as the ipod and GPS systems, smart phones, LCD TV's would exist?  I had a hard enough time trying to figure out how those people were in the TV, lol
I did this______

I played with a stick after the oldman used it on my brothers.

Well I prayed every day for school to end.

No but ma and pa had one.

No but mom used it for cleanin things that were dusty.

Toys?...does a stick the oldman used on my brothers count?

Well I got a gps system I use to find the f***ing remote for the tv.blush
