You gotta break them down and then build them back up again at the end of the conversation/meeting or it's not constructive, it's just criticism.

learned from 25th Sig Batt - never let them know how you feel or thin- then they know how to hurt you - take it in stride- what doesnt kill only makes you stronger

Realize it's a part of life.  If the boss makes it personal and belittles her, that is one thing.  I don't condone being talked down to, and quite frankly, I'd walk out the door if that were to happen.  But if he/she simply wants to see improvement and/or progression, that is natural and it means she is wanted.  No one likes to be criticized, but it happens in every occupation.  My advice?  Roll with the punches and be "coachable."

Did he fire her?  Did she get demoted?  Is she losing money?

No to any or all of these...then suck it up!
(or the gentile way of putting this) - your boss just gave you the secret to staying on and being a more effective employee, meaning he may want to give you more responsiblities, meaning you may be up for a promotion, but you have to be able to accept someone judging you.

Now, if you can show where these comments do not apply to you, show it directly, otherwise say 'Yes Sir and I am ready to show you I can do those things without hesitation'.

I don't want to sound like an ass, but this is where they pluck the weak from the strong...hold your emotions for when you fall down and hurt yourself, stop whining over this.  Go do what's been asked, and you will be rewarded for it - they notice the changes!!!

If what he told her she agreed with and has motivated her to correct the issues he has with her then that's constructive, if he was just being a rude ass for no reason except to be a rude a$$ that's just poor management.

actually this poll wasn't meant to give my daughter advice is is more than capable to handle her situation it is more about how other handles so called constructive criticism

Listen to what they say and see if it will help you or if its just someone being critical for no apparent reason, then it may be a more underlying problem.
