ok fellow iquers saw these grocery prices from 1955 wow nice to have these back again what do you think about and what are the cheapest prices you can remember,just a little trip back in history,could you imagine making what you make now and paying these prices

When I first got my Ls, gas was about $.99/gal

I pumped gas at my grandfathers station/store when gas was 33.3 cents a gallon. A 26 oz. soft drink was 10 cents....5 cents if you returned the bottle. My first real summer job when I was 16 I was making 5 dollars a day...tax free!!!!!! :)

Here's a pretty cool little read on the subject. What I really like to know is why are the 50's always a benchmark? Why not the 40's or 60's? Wouldn't those eras or decades be a better comparison since they were mired by wars (economic obligations) like today?

Also wtf are "Lean Oscar Meyer sweet MORSELS" and why were they so freaking expensive?

Smoked boneless pork butt... My grandmother used to make those...

Born in 1955 I never paid attention to prices till 1971.. I recall gas was 25 cents a gal. Loaf of bread about 50 cents..Cigarettes were 60 cents a pack, 16 oz soda about 25 cents. ...That's about all I can recall..

A remember asking my brothers and sisters for a quarter to get a bag of potato chips and a 16 oz soda and me having 7- I got  dollars and was told dont come back for the rest of the day
