I'd bring my homemade Cole Slaw... Shredded cabbage and carrots, a little mayo, cider vinegar, pineapple juice and sugar allow to rest in fridge overnight. Then clean out a half of an oblong watermelon down to the core , blot dry then fill it with the Cole Slaw, top with a few slices of red and green peppers for presentation and Bon Appetite!!

1 package of spiral pasta (I usually get the mix blend)
1 bottle of Girard's Original Dressing (Or Italian dressing of your preference but this one is the best)
1 clove of Garlic
1 yellow bell pepper
1 green bell pepper
1 red bell pepper
1 package of mozzarella cheese
1 package of salami
1 package of pepperoni (usually I get the turkey can't really taste the difference in my opinion)
1 can artichoke hearts in water (small or large depends on your love of them... I usually get the large cans but must be in water not oil)
2 or 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise (we use Best Foods which is the equivalent to Hellmann's)

1. Cook pasta in salt water till al dente
2. Core and chop the three bell peppers into diced size
3. Cube mozzarella cheese into bite size pieces
4. Drain water from artichoke hearts
5. Cut Salami slices into quarters
6. Once pasta has been cooked and rinsed, add the chopped bell peppers, cubed mozzarella, salami quarters, broken artichoke hearts, and pepperoni. Mix well and with a garlic press, press in 1 clove of garlic (or 2 if cloves are small, should accentuate the taste of the pasta not over power)
7. Add 3/4 bottle of Girard's Original Dressing to the pasta mixture, as well as 2 heaping tablespoons of mayonnaise. (Works well without the mayo too).
8. Cover till serving... if it appears dry because of pasta absorption add remaining salad dressing  to pasta before serving. Great on its own for lunch or with grilled chicken or steak.

(Edited by kteacher)
It use to be Triple Chocolate Balls, but since the Fourth I've been asked to make this three times already.

Banana Pudding Poke Cake

box of yellow cake mix---bake cake, let cool for about 10 minutes, poke holes with bottom of wooden spoon----make them deep
2 boxes of banana instant pudding-----mix with 4 cups of cold milk, let sit for a couple minutes, pour over cake, put into fridge long enough for the pudding to set (I just wait an hour)
spread Cool Whip over the top (one tub is good)
Crush about 25 Nilla Wafers in a freezer bad and then spread over the top
Done

I just want you to know I try my damndest to be the best jester on the Q (but only for a select few).
#14 | 314 days ago

I usually bring some homebrew, but I also make an apple pastry that's pretty awesome.

I peel and core an apple, rub it down with some sugar mixed with cinnamon, put some caramel hazelnuts and dried cranberries in the core and wrap the apple up in a pie type crust.  Bake till golden brown and serve with ice cream... it's the joint!!

Family recipe, everyone contributed til we got it right. I love this during the summer. Grill some burgers, steak, or even fish, goes well with everything.
#21 | 314 days ago

hmmm I'm better at entrees (in which case, I'd bring lasagna)  but side dish..lemme see... what about dessert?
I'll bring muffin tin caramel kiss brownies
or
my banana streusel muffins
or
Homemade angel food cake with strawberries and homemade whipped cream
or if it's the holidays, my eggnog muffins.

oh - non-dessert, my salsa. Everybody always asks for my salsa.

Recipes available upon request.
