An Alarming Trend (Edited 07/14/12 09:44PM by SusanVette)
Okay fellow iquers this isn't the big cities like New York or Chicago etc,but there has been an alarming trend the past few years that got me worried .They just released the crime figures for the Charlotte area murders up ( 25 this year compared to 18 last year) robbery up 857 this year 733 last year rape up 111 this year to 106 last year ,aggravated assault 1567 up from 1378 last year, sure makes me feel uneasy so my question is how is the crime rate this year compared to last in your area and whats the answer to lowering them

Cap'n, if I had no job, no money, and a couple of children looking into my eyes with the hope of me putting food on the table for them to eat, I'd probably do whatever I had to do to feed them. These are desperate times. Not condoning crime, but I can understand why it is on the rise. At least rich folks are able to sit in their castles and comfortably look down at all of us little folk while receiving a boatload of tax breaks. ****** ******s.

Tax the rich, do not cut spending on education. And get the **** along.

Heck, while I am in here... legalize it, tax it.

Education is the panacea. Why has every one of our peer countries/societies figured it out? Yet here, we have (only) two diametrically opposed political parties screaming at each other over EVERYTHING but that?!?!?! What's that song about clowns to the left and jokers to the right? Stupid is as stupid does.

Captain you are blessed to live in Charlotte. The city I live closest too is projecting 252 murders in 2012... I think you can relax and not worry... When it comes to your hometown...All good in da hood. smiley

People are stealing everything from brass pots on headstones to stealing your screened porches here.
Times are tough.  Financial problems cause stress and higher rates of all crimes from theft to domestic
violence, murder.     A lot of this could be solved by paying people with jobs a living wage, and creating
jobs in this country, not sending them overseas.  Instead, let's all look at that shiny object over there,( birthers and muslim conspiracy theories) etc.  Keeping us floundering and arguing among ourselves, while they decide which cocktail party
to attend in the Hamptons and pat each other on the back for the tax evasion tips........pfft............Cheers.

My job makes me a fly on the wall and it would make your head spin to hear how they talk in the privacy of their homes.

My Governor Rick Snott wants to eliminate research classes in Florida colleges and gear them instead
towards vocations.   God forbid we think for ourselves..........

They want to cut back or shift the focus of (partially) publicly funded institutions that ..."produce some 70 percent of scientists, engineers, doctors,..." at a time when RD innovation is the only growth segment of the economy.

I just read that entire article and literally banged my head on the wall 3 or 4 times. A face palm just wouldn't cut it. (That Gov. Rick tidbit at the end is like an Onion article link. When he proposed stuff like that we should literally laugh and say: "Good one gov... can you imagine?!" Then laugh some more.)

His daughter has a degree in anthropology.  That is one of the courses he wants to eliminate.  I guess she can't find
a job in her field.  indecisionHow embarrassing for a man (felon) who ran for office with the slogan "Let's get back to work"
and all he has done is turn down federal help for our state and eliminate state jobs.   Same a**hole who closed the only TB
hospital July 1, knowing that the CDC declared a state of emergency here for TB three months earlier.

Tea party anyone?angry

well maybe to steal food ,but for murder and rape I think it just doesn't apply when my children was young I had to work to jobs to put food on the table ,and never thought about killing or raping anyone .I don't know I don't have sympathy for anyone who hurts other people or other things ....just me I guess
