Who will be the next captain of the Nashville Predators?
Nashville has not had a very desirable offseason. They have lost the likes of Anders Lindback, Jordin Tootoo, Alexander Radulov, and former alternate captain Ryan Suter in free agency. Now, with captain Shea Weber's signing of a 14-year offer sheet with the Philadelphia Flyers, it appears that the Predators are poised to lose another star player to free agency if the offer sheet is not matched. There is still time for the offer sheet to be matched by the Predators (up to this Thursday), but it appears that the Predators may have to cut their losses and search for his replacement in the coming weeks for both his position on the top line of defense and the captaincy. With that being said, who do you think the Nashville Predators will select as their next captain if Shea Weber departs?
An (A) by a player's name indicates that he is listed as an alternate captain on Nashville's roster.

| 3 Fans | | | 33% | a. David Legwand, C- The 2nd overall pick by Nashville in 1998, Legwand never became the superstar player the Preds wanted him to be. Regardless, he holds the franchise records for games played (846) and points (501) in Nashville. | | 0% | b. Mike Fisher, C (A)- Acquired from Ottawa in 2011, Fisher has put up a respectable 63 points in 99 games with Nashville. His on-ice leadership and attitude made him valuable for years in Ottawa. | | 33% | c. Martin Erat, RW- Only 41 points shy of David Legwand for the franchise scoring record, Erat was a 7th round pick in 1999 that has stayed with Nashville for his whole career. Has value as both a veteran and scorer. | | 0% | d. Hal Gill, D- Despite being a very recent acquisition by the Predators, Gill has been a premier stay-at-home defender since his career started in 1997. He was an alternate captain multiple times in Montreal. | | 33% | e. Paul Gaustad, C- Despite being more of a checking center than an elite one, Gaustad can still put up 30 points a season and is old enough to be considered a veteran. Only downside is an injury-plagued season last year. | | 0% | f. Patric Hornqvist, RW- Although he may be young, Hornqvist, picked 230th overall in 2005, has proven himself to be a premier scorer on the Predators. He's a long shot, but is certainly not a bad option in the future if not now. | | 0% | g. Sergei Kostitsyn, LW- Another 7th round pick, Kostitsyn arrived in Nashville in 2010 and became a leading scorer on the team right away. The Belarusian is not overwhelming in any one way, but a good all-around player. | | 0% | h. Kevin Klein, D- A 2nd round pick in 2003, Klein is a career Predator and an above-average defensive defenseman. Besides his career minus-14 rating, he has much value to the team now, especially with Suter and possibly Weber leaving. | | 0% | i. None of the above, Shea Weber will stay with Nashville | | 0% | j. Other- Please specify in comments. |
