Q'ville I need your help.
I am going to attempt to grill tonight. This is a chore I have always left up to the men in my life. Yes, here in the last couple of years before Greg meant my nephews, that's besides the point. Q'ville I need your help. Photo

I have a very cool gas grill, I like charcoal better but can't seem to keep them lit.

I am going to grill sectioned chicken wings(aint no thing like a chicken wing), and some bratwurst.

Which cooks quicker? Do I start them all together and put one on top? Do I start the chicken first? Do I start the brats first?

And then finally, when do I put the corn on the grill?

Anyone that wants to come for dinner there's more than enough. Q'ville I need your help. Photo
Just bring a side dish. Oh and your beer cause I'm drinking myself single today. Q'ville I need your help. Photo

brats first - chicken second - corn last

your remedy in keeping the charcoals it- use the best "Kingsford" ----- stack into a pyramid 1st- then douse with fluid, then light, when flames die down, then distribute coals evenly. You will find they say lit longer and your grill will have even hot spots,,another trick is when turning food, slightly saturate with some sort of seasoning, your meat will  not dry out and the steam will give it a smoky flavor.

Hope this helps!!!!

I also marinate brats in beer along with a couple onions sliced (thin rings is fine) and a couple crushed garlic cloves for 8-12 hours but over night is even better.  Remove brats and then the onions. Take a small cast iron pan (or non stick) what ever ya have grill safe and put in on ya grill and once heated toss in the onions. Once ya onions are started ya throw on the brats to grill.  They get nice and caramelized with that nice slight beer flavor and are great on top the brats.

Drink a lot of beer and follow Lainey's and Sid's tips. You will be fine. By the time you drink 5 or 6 beers, everything should be done.

Good luck.

And don't be too worried if you face looks a lot like Jess's yellow face while doing all of that, it's ok. Hence the beer.

Actually the face was to grilling. I'm completely lost on the subject. I wouldn't know the first thing about grilling...you lost me at "I'm going to grill some sectioned chicken wings". That face was me saying "I got less than nothin'"

And here I am shopping for a Traeger for my husband. HAH! I'm an idiot.

Well I did great!  The wings were perfect and the brats were, well so a little crisp on the outside is not so bad. smiley

Never use GAS to Grill. Charcoal is OK, but I prefer Hickory or Mesquite. Brats can be beer boiled first and then grilled to perfection. Chicken wings ain't my thing, but they will cook fast on a hot grill. at least try a few flavors of marinades to find your favorite.

cool

I use gas all the time to rave reviews.  Nothing wrong with it.  If you want a "smokey flavor" you can add that too.  If you do it right, they always come back for more.  Plus, its way cheaper ti use gas than constantly buying charcoal
Ok, do this first.

Gas grills are too dangerous for me- not messing with propane tanks-----nothingbeats the flavor of charcoal grilled food--- do I have to post a pic of a real grill ( for those who remember the pic of my oldest and me)

My opinion only has to do with eating the grilled food, since I don't actually do the grilling..

I'd much rather eat grilled food made by someone on a gas grill than by someone who doesn't know what they're doing with charcoal. I can't count the amount of times my food tasted like straight lighter fluid. Gross.

frown gas grill...Its ok though, your just beginning, its kind of like baseball you have to start in the minors before you go to the show. To me grilling with charcoal is more like cooking out, gas is like a portable stove outside. It is cheaper and easier to clean up afterwards and I would take derms advice witha grain of salt, after all he is a browns fans, need i say more.laugh

There's a huge difference between good charcoal grilled food and food grilled with charcoal by someone who's clueless. Personally though, I'd rather have smoked either way.

I hear wine is a great marinade Alain...stick to the rule of thumb, reds and bolds for beef and lights for pork, chicken and fish, anything with a woodsy aroma would probably be good.

add some Worchestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt and pepper, soy sauce and some garlic powder. Let it marinate over night or at least 12 hours then once you slap the meat on the grill add some cornstarch to then marinate and let it boil then simmer for about 10 -15 minutes and you can use it to baste whatever your grilling.
It will make you want to slap your momma*

*Disclaimer for Dez Bryant, this is just an expression, seriously Dez.
