I had some young folks (20s and 30s) ask me to play softball last year. I said I would join and go to the games; told them I would play if it kept from having to forfiet a game. Three games into the season I was starting at shortstop and continued to start through the rest of the season. At 54, I thought that was kinda cool.

Coming out of my mom's vag!  I've never seen soo much excitement and joy since! frown cheeky

When I was 11, I was the QB on the Park District team that I was playing on. It was 4th and 14 from our own 2 yd line.  The play called was a 43, which is the RB going through the 3 hole (between the right guard and tackle).  Well, our RB went to the left, so when I turned to hand the ball off, no one was there!  I took off and ran 98 yds for a TD.

Went 4/4 my freshman year in high school during the first round of reginals including a Mantle-esque homer that put us ahead. That was the last year I played. Started jogging with my step-dad that summer and ran track and cross country the next three years.

honorable mention would be finishing second place in conference my senior year in cross country.

I once got 4 sacks in a HS game, which is a lot considering most teams would only pass about 8 times a game.  I also got a pretty good hit on Troy Polamalu (he was a Sophmore running back my Senoir year).  But the coup de grace was the injuries I inflicted, I had about 5 or 6 guys litterally leave the gave after getting destroyed by me.  The best part is that they weren't seriously hurt, they just quit..... p#$$ies!!!

31 dimes vs. Royal Vale Academy (Basically a very small private GLEE / FAME type HS, lol. They only had around 200 students K-11 I think Shatner went there. My friends still tease me about being a bully.)

273 all purpose yards, 2 TDs, pick, and an awesome testostrone driven 10th grade-esque shoving match in a Provincial (State) semi game vs. our rival St-Bruno. (Our HS didn't have a football team, only city/travelling type teams. My town and theirs were bus'd to the same regional 'English' school. You couldn't tell me shiite for about a week. Also I was rockin' Kangoroos like Sweetness wore.)

Not bad for a short fat kid. My lil bro was/is the athlete.

I have or never had any real over the top athletic skills ,  average at best (and that wasn't often)cool.  Probably why i am on betting side of sports these days and not the playing side indecision

I beat my neighbor Paul in a swim race. He was THE athlete of our neighborhood....there wasn't a sport he didn't excel at......well except swimming. HA! I beat a lot of boys at swimming. That was fun.
I slid into a beast of a catcher the summer of my junior year in high school...............I was out....forced play, but I made her hurt and all my team loved me more for it.

I had a no hitter, last year in our Mens 12 inch (JENX - wink)  league, and our LF miss played a liner to him, which dropped in for a hit. Ended up being a 1 hitter.

I have no idea what that means, is it like a 10-51  or a 10-53 in police lingo.

Sounds like something LeBron would pull off (in a qtr.) versus Liechtenstein if MW was an Olympic event.

Toss up between age 13 in Little League or Age 16 in Little League.

Age 13, my team won the league title, I was MVP with stats like these:
Games: 15
Batting Average: .850
Runs: 70
2B: 35
3B: 24
HR: 0
RBI: 98
SB: 24
Defensively, I threw out 67% of people trying to steal off me. This in a league where kids took off the moment a pitcher lifted his leg to go home (which explains how my slow ass got 24 SB's).  My team averaged 26 runs a game that year, and the 24 triples, if I played on a field with a fence, probably would have been 3 and HR's would have been 23. That is how well I could hit back then.

Age 16, pissed off at my high school baseball coach for not choosing me to be on the team, I pitched against the starting lineup for my high school in a little league game. Stat line as follows:

IP: 7 (7 inning games)
H: 1 (infield single that should have been an error; if I make good throw, he's out)
R: 0
ER: 0
K: 18
W: 4
HB: 2

could have sat down my outfielders since the catcher had 20 putouts that day (2 foul pop ups) and my first baseman had one foul popup. Coach was pissed, accused the team of not trying. but that day, I was unhittable.

Does having former NFL player Tony Boselli constantly knocking you down and sacking your quarterback count?  He played both ways in high school and needless to say I was slightly overclassed.

I couldn't play sports, I had a household to take care of.... and I probably wouldn't have anyway. It's hot outside.

I was regional champion in the spelling bee in the 5th grade. I know...I'm awesome!

Well, since this thread was exhumed by the dead (and not by the usual suspect!), I might as well share my very very small scale story.

So, every year in high school gym class we had to run a mile, and we were required to run it in under 10 minutes. If not, you had to keep doing it while the rest of the class moved on (although realistically this only happened once or twice) until you hit the limit. Due to my heart condition, I was exempt for having to do it again, and though I tried my best, I had never gotten under 10 minutes. As a senior though, I decided that the hell with the exemption, I wanted to run it in under 10 minutes. Luckily for me, during the run one of the teachers ran it at the 10 minute pace, along with all the jocks, who liked me for some reason (there was a practice run a previous class, and if you were under 10 minutes then you could take that time and goof off the "real" run).

Long story short: 9 minutes, 57 seconds. I didn't get up for a while, but damn it, I did it.

Back to high school water polo.  Once with a regular conference game with about 5-10 seconds left I actually scored the winning goal.  It was cool because it was against a school my swimming club coach coached.  He always tried to get me to transfer to that HS.  It's also a bit rare because I didn't shoot all that much.  Weak arm.

But my favorite moment came in the Conference tournament the next year.  It was a double elimination.  After two games we found ourselves in the losers bracket.  Game went to two OT's.  It was grueling.  After the 2 OT's we went to sudden death.  I was playing the wing and was fouled.  Coach burned his last TO not for strategy but just to give us a rest.  When we went back to positions one my teammates told me to pass to him at the two meter line.  I thought that was nuts as he would be double or even triple teamed there.  Whistle blows and game resumes.  I have a free pass but no one is getting open to receive.  At the 2 meter line all I see is a mass of arms, hands and splashes.  I figure, "what the hell?" and toss the ball into the melee.  My teammates hand appears out of seemingly nowhere and bats the ball in the net.  We win and live to play another game.  Of course, the story falls apart the next day when we play for the Conference title and get blown out of the water...
