Irreconcilable differences
The oracle (@the_real_CactusJack) got me thinking about how much I absolutely loath the owner of my fave NBA team. James Dolan, I can't even with him anymore. Which had me seriously pondering divorcing the Knicks after more than 30 years of fidelity. (I still rock a Starks throwie on occaision. I'm in deep.)

The question: Is this ever acceptable? Where's the line they have to cross? Or is it a cumulative thing?

Now feel free to b!tch about your teams, coaches, GM's etc. It's a safe place. (Oh and by all means cheapies at other teams is also completely acceptable.)

Got it? Good. Gone.

I have no complaints. All 4 of my teams are playoff caliber teams right now, although the Bulls did just dump their entire bench which was probably the best bench in the NBA.

astros actually questioned roger clemens (rimshot). if they are looking for retired dudes, why can't we look at larussa or torre or find another davey jones? there's gotta be another one out there. i think an octogenarian is exactly what the astros are missing. it would actually increase the average age to 21 or 22 maybe. (f**k my life) i thought going to the american league would for sure make me bail. i'm sooooo not happy about it. it's kinda like your significant other saying "hey yeah. so, the sex kinda sucks. i'm gonna go ahead and get someone else to take care of that for you." i'm not divorcing them, but there's one, massive, squeaky, third wheel in our bed.

the football team is perfect. oh except for those stupid new jerseys. ugly. but i think that was out of our hands. the new pants however are quite nice. see-through-ability is so top drawer. can't wait for an elements game - make it rain!

THAT WAS LOW!!  Funny as hell, but low!

The STAR could really do without Wally (I mean Jerry)...

The PURPLE & GOLD now have that defensive schitzo on board...

The PINSTRIPES...ummmm, let's get rid of A-Pod, center around Cano and get it cracking...

Ohh...No.  RIDE & DIE with these teams

Not once have I ever had the thought of changing teams (sorry Janet wink)

I was born and raised in Chicago and have been a fan of all of my cities teams since I was a young dude;

Cubs (age 6)
Bears and Blackhawks (age 8)
Bulls (age 10)
WSox (well, I went to games as a kid, but, was never a big fan of theirs)

Even though the CUBS haven't won a WS in 104 years and counting, not once have I ever thought of changing my favorite baseball team.  Yeah, sure, I have reached that point where I don't root for them as a die-hard and I don't HOPE that "this is our year" anymore. Too many let downs.  I analyze the team that we have before each season and I put as much into that years team as they allow me to.  I am still loyal to them and will support them, but i'm not naive to what's going on and I think that i am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to knowing what to expect from year to year!

As for the Blackhawks - we had an owner (Dollar Bill Wirtz) who was HATED by the entire Chicago fan base for not showing any homes games on TV and being cheap when it came to renewing contracts of stars and fan favorites (Belfour, Roenick, Amonte), but I love Hockey and love my HAWKS, even when they went some 11 out of 12 years in a row of not making the playoffs  (2002 was the exception) after having gone 28 years in a row of making the playoffs and 38 out of 39 yrs of having made the playoffs ('59-'68 & '70-'97).

As for the Bears - The city of Chicago will ALWAYS be a FOOTBALL city!  No matter how bad the team may be, we love our football here!

As for the Bulls - MJ, Pip and the Zen Master (Phil Jackson) put Basketball on the map in Chicago!  The 90's were incredible!  But, I've never been a die-hard fan for the NBA!  I enjoy it and will watch it, but not with the same passion as Hockey and Football!

Atlanta Braves !!!!!!!!!!!

Because like all other Atl teams they strive to underachieve !  They are owned by c**k sucking gutless pieces of s**t who should never be allowed to own a professional sports team in first places because they have no desire for the game what so ever. To only care about ticket sales and the bottom line and to just worry about doing enough to keep suckers coming back to the ballpark is despicable !  F**k your board of director's , your accountants , your lawyers and whomever else Liberty Media !

I'm a bit to full of the hating right now to participate. I would begin with my beloved Skins and their evil owner Dan Snider, but knowing me, I would soon be off topic and spewing my hate for others. I have no baseball/basketball/soccer hatin stories, although golf suxs it big and you see what I mean. I'm already off topic.  Cause that isn't even in your question, but you know, I never follow the rules, I travel the crooked path....im going now....(hangs head) (and i cant spell)

I recently left Penn State fandom for reasons that should be obvious. I mean, when everything you were taught about the school and the program was a lie, then the hell with them.

Otherwise, I don't think I could abandon a team. Admittedly, the Orioles have made me exasperated many a time over the last 15 years (this year excepted somehow). IndyCar as well with its seemingly constant dysfunction.

With ace Steve Rogers on the hill in the ninth inning and two out already, Dodgers outfielder Rick Monday came up to bat. He belted a home run to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.

DON'T FEEL BAD, CUBS ARE WORSE. THEY'RE GOING TO WIN THAT WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP ANY YEAR NOW. ANY YEAR NOW. ANY YEAR NOW.

I'D KEEP GOING, BUT TYPING 105 OF "ANY YEAR NOW" WOULD HURT LIKE HELL AND TOO LAZY TO COPY AND PASTE.

Baseball and I had a separation for a couple of years after the '94 season. I slowly came back and tehen the whole PED  thing came out and I havebeen luke warm to the game since, but this quote by James Earl Jones from Field of Dreams always keeps me coming back for more:

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.

I have never considered changing teams in any sport, but with that train wreck in NY I could consider the Thunder. They are the home town team, they're young, sexy and keep trying to seduce me with each step they take every year in the playoffs. But it would only be a bandwagon fling until the ghosts of Reed, Clyde, Ewing and Starks started smacking me.

Mojo...Hate to say this...but I agree - the Thunder are fun to watch, and I have been to OKC - you can kinda get sucked into the ride.  The arena is always packed and you literally can feel the thump in the air when they start rolling.  I will always be a Laker homer, but the OKC thang is tempting.

San Antonio had that going on, but they are really deadpan there...but you can drink well on the Riverwalk!!!

**My next venture is to torture and torment the living H*** out of every DeadSkin fan I meet here in the DMV - my office mates already have an electric barrier set up to deter me, talking RGIII will lead them to the playoffs this year...I asked them all to go get PED tested immediately, cuz they is messed up in the noodle!!

This is almost 2 years old but still. The A to Z of Dan Snyder. It basically got the paper and the reporter black balled by the Skins, lol. It also spawned the "We Are All Dave McKenna" DEADSPIN meme. I was thinking of doing a little digging and explaining my frustrations with Dolan the same way.

Yeah, and every year I lament what he has done to my beloved Skins. It's been 12 frickin years and he still can't get his head out of his ass to see the damage he has done. I just can't revisit this, my therapist says it isn't good for me. I am trying the positive approach. The Mr. The Kevin says I need to do it 10 times, and it will become a habit. (it's not working)

I have one and only one issue with the Controllers of Cricket in India who are BTW one of the richest sports bodies in the whole efffin World still why the F*** don't we have 1 decent stadium with a pitch that Supports Fast Bowling.
Every time we travel overseas we get a$$ F***ED but still they keep providing the same s#%%y pitches to play on for the First Class level A batsman scoring heaps of runs in this level turns out to be absolute filth at the top level

say what you want about Steinbrenner, but he put his money where his giant mouth and even more giant ego was and went out to get the best players money can buy. Because there is only one thing New Yorkers like me understand, and that is winning (and no, not http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pipTwjwrQYQ), but the actual thing that Cubs fans haven't known in 3 generations.

Or Astros fans ever (sorry, Leigh. What wonderful memories of Jesse Orosco I have from 1986 striking out future Met Kevin Bass
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtckJd-M_OA ).

And for someone who hates Steinbrenner, why you have Derek Jeter as your profile photo? Man-crush we should know about, or is it a full-blown one-sided lust affair?

I have a few favorites (Tony Kanaan, Simona de Silvestro, James Hinchcliffe), but overall I root for most of the drivers. At least a public, they all seem pretty nice and worth rooting to succeed (well, Marco Andretti is a bit of whiner, and Dario Franchitti can act entitled sometimes, but otherwise). This might be an issue between IndyCar and NASCAR, where most fans have drivers they both vehemently love and vehemently hate.

Also to a disturbingly high number of people, IndyCar isn't sufficiently Amurikan.

A few years ago, I could have written a novel on the Seahawks here. I'm quite happy with the decisions our brass are making right now though. I may not always understand where they're coming from when stuff's going down initially but last year I started to see the direction they were going and this year I think we're going to start enjoying some success.

The Mariners - I truly believe they're on the cusp of something special. Letting Ichiro move on was good for both parties, IMO. Even their bats are getting better. I know I say this right after they were swept, but the White Sox have the Mariners' number.

The Ducks...well...that's a whole other monster. I love hockey so much as a sport and I had to pick a team so I picked one for the sole reason that they had some of the juniors players I knew from Spokane, and the coach. Now I'm possibly facing a dilemma if Seattle gets a team. I haven't been happy with the Ducks since Niedermayer left and Carlyle encouraged everyone to play dirty because, hey - it worked for Pronger. Bringing in Boudreau was a step in the right direction, but there's a lot more that needs to be done. Living in Florida and having to watch the games on east coast time for two years didn't really help. And obviously it has nothing to do with how well they're doing (I'm crazy loyal to the Hawks and Mariners...) and more to do with team philosophy. I guess I'll find out this season (if there isn't much of a lockout) if I can recapture some of that love for them.

As far as the Nuggets, Avalanche and Broncos go I have had a long marriage with all three.  Like any marriage we have our up's and downs.  Most notable championships for 2 of the 3 and good years with Chauncey Billups and Melo are the up's.  The downs have included losing Melo and Billups, last place finishes by the Avs and Bronco teams that even Tim Tebow couldn't get help from above to save from depression.  My only ugly duckling of late has been my Rockies.  I don't hate them, I simply don't understand their positions on who to keep, who to let go and who to give ludicrious contract extensions to.  Tulo, Carlos Gonzales and some others are definetly worth watching so I will continue to do so when I have the chance, however I must say that they are in a very solid last place in terms of my love.
