Crazy how time goes by so fast. My last 5 classes weren't even born, and my first class, the one I had in 2001, just graduated. On this day, I don't just remember those who lost their lives on that day, but also those who went on to serve our country and never made it back.

Hey,

Moment of silence for 9/11.....never forget.

Notre Dame is 2-0 thanks to TOMMY REES getting rather lucky.  Golson is still the man, though.  Tough roadie in East Lansing Saturday night.  Go Irish!

Da Bears offense is killer.  Alshon Alshon is DA MAN!

Brandon Marshall is pretty sweet too.....BEARS/Packers Thursday night.  Bear Down!

Ya boy is worn the hell out from two weddings this past weekend.  Time to get some work done.

Have a good day people.

You know how we say Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday and Rockin Rosh Hashanna, what is the best entry for 9/11 day without just ruining your spirit.  Votes are being cast now

So I think Redbox and I have differing ideas about what constitutes a "Hit Movie"

So Baltimore was impressive last night, but I've seen this tease with their offense before.  I'm gonna need to see them do this kind of thing more often.
The Chargers and Raiders put me to sleep.  But one thing I did notice was that the Chargers have zero running game and if Darren McFadden is used like that every week, he won't play 10 games

Mads Mikkelsen in Pusher 2 is one bad mother-watch your mouth.. 2 is completely different from Pusher, but I highly recommend both flicks.  Warning, they are in Danisih.  The language, not the delicious breakfast treats.

Ok, back to work for now.  Always remember, never forget, try to avoid becoming desensitized to it

I don't think there is a proper greeting for something like that day.

It's like trying to greet someone for Pearl Harbor Day.

I think tragic events do not get greeting intro's?  (shrug)

Big ceremony here today...Only families of victims allowed at the Pentagon Memorial, but its kind of surreal (this being my first 9-11 experience within the building itself)...I still cannot imagine something hitting this place, much less me walking near the section that was hit on a daily basis.

It will hit me later, I know.  I had a cousin that was a Port Authority cop in the Twin Towers that perished there, and that still hurts.

No longer in uniform, but I'm glad I still serve in some manner.   May get to see the President in a little while, along with the SecDef...

Folks, do not mourn those lost - celebrate their lives.  Show the strength and resolve we Amereicans possess and enjoy this beautiful day.  Look up and smile knowing we are STONGER now more than ever, and those that were lost in these horrible acts will always be honored.  Be Proud. Stay Stong.

Hi friiiinds!

This is my new love. Okay it's not necessarily "new" per se, but I felt it was worth mentioning again. Those of you have spent much time on Pinterest will especially appreciate it. Language NSFW, but if you have a minute to read even just one of the blogs, I highly recommend doing so.

I'm thinking about putting together a "game weekend" backpack. I'm paranoid about leaving the tickets at home or something, so I was thinking every Monday I could put it together, put the tickets in there along with some fruit snacks and goldfish crackers or something, gloves for me and Kiernan, ear protection for Kiernan - you know, the necessities. And put it in the truck so we don't forget it! cheeky

Does anyone know how long flies live?

Is it "Pets Mart" or "Pet Smart"?

I don't want to seem heartless for not mentioning that it's 9/11 - I figured there would be a poll on here somewhere specifically in remembrance and I didn't want to seem redundant. After searching the site, I see nothing.

I can't change my profile pic here to anything but me as per employer rules, but here is my FB profile pic today - I think it's a beautiful tribute to the memory of those lost and in honor of the heroes

1) if you look at the their logo, it's 2 colors, with the Blue starting with the S. You can't argue with the Branded logo and 2) if you google PETSMART, a majority of the listings have it listed as PetSmart, with the S capitalized.

Because PetSmart has good prices on Science Diet, they have a one-stop-shop so I can take my pups to the vet, board them and let them go to day camp while we're at the games, and the people are really nice! (I know it's listed as PetSmart with the capital S and separated by colors that way...but Pet Smart sounds stupid, and it's a "Mart" of sorts so I figured I'd see how everyone else felt about it)

Whatup?
Hey y'all. I stayed up late and got drunk  to watch MNF last night. I'm paying for it now. Work is having no mercy. Anyway, speaking of football, five teams scored 40-plus points in week one. And if it's true that defense jells quicker than offense this year is gonna be fun. The Texans won Sunday, but they didn't play all that well at fiirst. They were bailed out by the defense. That stretch of 5:00 or so in the second quarter was epic. This week  is gonna be the real test. Not because it''s a Division game against Jacksonville, but because they will be facing the dreaded "Trap Game". A road game and they're heavily favored (8 points). Plus Maurice Jones-Drew marks his calendar for games against Houston..
Stoney, is Peyton for real or did he just have something to prove to (us) haters Sunday night? He spanked that Steeler D in the second half. The Broncos looked good. Contender type good.
        Gotta go. I'll holla.

I've have conquered it...

my moment.......................................................of silence.

Apparently there is going to be an NHL lockout.  Owners are paying offering contracts like they won't have to pay them.

My son got his first sport injury:  a soccer ball slammed him in the wrist and fractured it.  I think I cried more tears in pride than he did in pain.

Ladies and Gentelmen, Jon Bon Jovi:

Wake up in the morning
And I raise my weary head
I got an old coat for a pillow
And the earth was last night's bed

I don't know where I'm going
Only God knows where I've been
I'm a devil on the run
A six gun lover
A candle in the wind, yeah!

When you're brought into this world
They say you're born in sin
Well at least they gave me something
I didn't have to steal or have to win

Well they tell me that I'm wanted
Yeah, I'm a wanted man
I'm a colt in your stable
I'm what Cain was to Abel
Mister catch me if you can

I'm going down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth

I'm going out in a blaze of glory
Lord, I never drew first
But I drew first blood
I'm no one's son
Call me young gun

You ask about my conscience
And I offer you my soul
You ask if I'll grow to be a wise man
When I ask if I'll grow old

You ask me if I known love
And what it's like to sing songs in the rain
Well, I've seen love come
I've seen it shot down
I've seen it die in vain

Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth

'Cause I'm going down in a blaze of glory
Lord I never drew first
But I drew first blood

I'm the devil's son
Call me young gun

Yeah!

(Slide solo)

Each night I go to bed
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
No, I ain't looking for forgiveness
But before I'm six foot deep

Lord, I got to ask a favor
And I'll hope you'll understand
'Cause I've lived life to the fullest
Let the boy die like a man

Staring down the bullet
Let me make my final stand

Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth

I'm going out in a blaze of glory
Lord I never drew first
But I drew first blood

I'm no one's son
Call me young gun
I'm a young gun, yeah!

Young gun, yeah
Young gun...

On 9/11: My thoughts are messy and complicated. If I fully expressed them, either I would say it wrong or someone would inevitably misinterpret, and all hell would break loose, and that's all I have to say about that.

OK, one thing, I don't understand the "Never Forget" thing. If you were old enough to remember it, it's not really something you can forget.

In other news, guess who has two thumbs and stupidly tried to run on an injured calf muscle, that he somehow hurt waking up yesterday morning? This guy!

In other news, guess who has two thumbs and stupidly tried to run on an injured calf muscle, that he somehow hurt waking up yesterday morning? This guy!
I think the 'Never Forget' is because people do forget. I don't think about September 11th everyday or on a regular basis for that matter, I doubt most people do. In some countries, foreign attacks are far more common, but not here. So, maybe it's just an effort  to not let Americans do their American, First World thing... keep us from becoming too desensitized, for lack of a better word (apathetic?). It's been over 10 years and as time passes, it's easy for things, even those as devastating as this, to become nothing more than a vague, distant memory; a once upon a time. Plus, for those that were too young to grasp it, it's a good time to educate them. Memorial Day and Veteran's Day never meant anything to me until my parents took the time to explain it (I'm not sure they even really discussed it in school until around the 7th grade). So, I think 'Never Forget' serves the younger generation as well. I'm not saying it's the best choice of wording, but I think the intent behind it is good, and effective.

Just my thoughts.

Do you remember "DVD?"  It was Dunn Vick Duckett.  TJ is one of my good friends.  Loved watching that trio, though I was pissed when they beat my Bears.

Oh, and did you get my friend add?
Sweet Lord, Duckett had the best legs! mmmhmm, I remember. :)... and hold please while I check......yes, thanks!

Apparently there is going to be an NHL lockout.  Owners are paying offering contracts like they won't have to pay them.

My son got his first sport injury:  a soccer ball slammed him in the wrist and fractured it.  I think I cried more tears in pride than he did in pain.

Ladies and Gentelmen, Jon Bon Jovi:

Wake up in the morning
And I raise my weary head
I got an old coat for a pillow
And the earth was last night's bed

I don't know where I'm going
Only God knows where I've been
I'm a devil on the run
A six gun lover
A candle in the wind, yeah!

When you're brought into this world
They say you're born in sin
Well at least they gave me something
I didn't have to steal or have to win

Well they tell me that I'm wanted
Yeah, I'm a wanted man
I'm a colt in your stable
I'm what Cain was to Abel
Mister catch me if you can

I'm going down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth

I'm going out in a blaze of glory
Lord, I never drew first
But I drew first blood
I'm no one's son
Call me young gun

You ask about my conscience
And I offer you my soul
You ask if I'll grow to be a wise man
When I ask if I'll grow old

You ask me if I known love
And what it's like to sing songs in the rain
Well, I've seen love come
I've seen it shot down
I've seen it die in vain

Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth

'Cause I'm going down in a blaze of glory
Lord I never drew first
But I drew first blood

I'm the devil's son
Call me young gun

Yeah!

(Slide solo)

Each night I go to bed
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
No, I ain't looking for forgiveness
But before I'm six foot deep

Lord, I got to ask a favor
And I'll hope you'll understand
'Cause I've lived life to the fullest
Let the boy die like a man

Staring down the bullet
Let me make my final stand

Shot down in a blaze of glory
Take me now but know the truth

I'm going out in a blaze of glory
Lord I never drew first
But I drew first blood

I'm no one's son
Call me young gun
I'm a young gun, yeah!

Young gun, yeah
Young gun...
In honor of 9/11, I think this is the song by Bon Jovi we all need to be singing so that the terrorists will realize they can't change who we are, or change the American Spirit in all of us:

IT'S MY LIFE

This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You are gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud

It's my life
And It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said,
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life.

This is for the ones that stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina, who never backed down
Tommorrow's getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky,
you gotta make your own breaks

It's my life
And It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said,
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause It's my life.

Better stand tall when they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down

It's my life
And It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said,
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)

And It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said,
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause It's my life
Boy, I am two seconds from being on you like white on rice in a glass of milk on a paper plate in a snowstorm...
