Really can't go wrong with either Gio Gonzalez or RA Dickey as the winner

yeah, but Dickey has put up numbers, including ERA wise, that no knuckleballer in  history has ever put up. The fact he did it all year with a torn muscle in his hip is even more impressive.

The narrative will probably give the real award to Dickey, and the narrative is right in this case, although it's close and arguments can be made for others. Dickey has the combination of strikeouts and lots of innings pitched I look for. Dickey's advanced stats aren't as a good, but those have issues with knuckleballers. To me, it was a near tossup between Dickey and Kershaw (why is he so low, stop looking at pitcher record people).

Gonzalez actually lead the league in FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching), which surprised me a little. He did cut down on his walks this year though (save Game 1 of the NLDS). I gave my 5th place vote to Cliff Lee for his weird season. He pitched pretty well, yet ended up 6-8 because, again, pitcher record is a dumb stat.

As I said in the AL Cy poll, in general I do not consider relievers to have enough innings to beat out a 200 inning starter for Cy Young votes. Lack of innings is the same reason I left Medlen off, even though I wanted to find a spot for him.

I agree with Scott cannot go wrong with Dickey or Goi.... picked Gio first just because he is a Met. I look at Lee, and would have him 6th behind Hamels, Motte and Cueto. Motte win-loss is not good, compared to the other pitchers each of them went through a dry spell, so Motte made it in for me. I also like to look at each pitchers stats against NL teams for it is the NL CY Young award not the ML Cy Young award.
