Yes, I went homer with my pick but if you really look at all the numbers, including defense, I think you could make a serious case for Molina as the best player in the NL this season.

You're absolutely correct (says this procrastinator). This is a tight race between Posey, Molina, Braun, and McCutchen, at least it should be. The Pirates freefall ends any shot for Cutch, and Jeff_P shows why Braun won't.

MVP is not for the best in the NL but the most important to a team, if LaRoche hadn't been with the Nationals we would not have seen them in the play-offs this year. The Nats had good pitching, but it was LaRoche who kept the offense on target all year long, which is also why I would take Posey, McCutchen and Dickey. Without these players on his respective team no way they win as many games as they did. Molina could have been replaced and still would have been the fifth best team in the NL As for Braun I am not a fan, but either he juice this year too, or he just showed that taking steroids does not make you hit more homers, or become a better hitter. His average dropped but his HRs improved everything else stayed the same.
