Who is your favorite television character of all time? (Edited 11/12/12 09:50AM by AlwaysSunshine)
Ok.  I'm a little bored.  And a little delirious (I've had four major projects to complete before midnight tonight).  So humor me.

So very many...  But the ones that come to mind first are...

Mr. Spock

Fraser Crane

George Jefferson

Eric Cartman

Also coming to mind while loading the images were....

Herman Munster
Joe Friday
Ted Baxter.

I could come up with a lot more good ones if I keep thinking about it...

Favorite is not exclusively singular.  There could easily be multiple favorites...  No single one outdoing any other.   Again, the question wasn't "Who is your ONE favorite?".

So take that!   wink

I can never pick just one in these polls, plus I'm always a "prisoner of the moment." I gave it a lot of thought and came up with the totally underrated on so many levels based solely on nonsense I enjoy---> Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy.

Here's why:
- On the unintentional comedy scale, he's always 95 to 98. (No CSI: Miami dude, but a very solid Pippen to Kirk's Jordan.)
- He's a total hot head with a really short fuse. Almost the opposite of what you want as a consigliere.
- He's a super space racist. "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor NOT a veterinarian!!" "Spock, you green blooded pointy eared devil!" etc.
- The weird sexual tension with the blonde nurse who had a thing for Spock. Probably fueled his ambiguous "Vulcanism."
- He did all his doctoring with an iPad and some kind of sparkly lipstick, probe thingy, which of course  was always kinda useless unless he needed to pronounce someone dead.
- He had a catch phrase. (See above) "He's dead Jim."
- Which leads to: Everybody else on the giant space ship (and Starfleet for that matter) referring to Kirk as "Captain." He gave zero effs and just called him Jim. Out loud, in front of everybody at all times.
- He drank a lot, fueling all of the above fantastic wtf-ery.

i could really go on for hours about my love of McCoy, but that's a quick summary.

There have been papers written (Yes, I'm letting my inner nerd out here) on whether or not McCoy was racist given all the remarks about Vulcans he spewed out over the years.  But the consensus has been that no.  Dr. McCoy was not.  In fact, Spock was one of McCoy's two closest friends.

Oh I've read the articles and what not. (lol, nerd alert!)  I just used Spock as one example, but really ALL the other humanoids they encountered on the show initially set Bones off. They were all subhuman to a degree. i.e. savages, barbarians, greedy, sneaky, etc. The fact that he had a best(ish) 'work' friend who is a Vulcan doesn't not make him a wildly entertaining, hysterical space-racist. It's like saying "I'm not anti-semetic, my good friend that works in accounting at the office is Jewish." Basically, he was on the "Spock isn't like the other ones" tip.

That has been more of a Trek theme than a McCoy thing.  About all aliens are inferior to the GREAT human race.  That theme was particularly present in TNG.   So still buy into the idea that McCoy wasn't a racist character any more than Spock was racist for embracing his Vulcan half over his human one.

Sorry, things are getting a little too nerdy here.  Think I'll stop now...    laugh
