When you're young at heart
I often find myself saying "they didn't have stuff like that when I was little!" Granted, I was forced to be creative, and that's a cool thing, but there are some cool toys out there now, amirite?!

There was always one thing that all of my friends had and for whatever reason, my parents refused to get for us no matter how many times I asked for it - a Spyrograph. Remember those things? I digress...

Anyway, my question is:

Imagine you're a child in today's world, and Geoffrey from Toys 'R Us or the local old toy store owner gives you one toy of your choosing; money is no object. What toy from today would you get?

Like Sid, I want the drone camera thing. Verizon sent an email to me advertising it. I am in love.

Kids are a lot more mature than I remember being when I was growing up. By the time boys are 3 years old, they want a Wii, at 6 they are asking for an iPhone, by the time they are 8 they ask for an iPad. By the time boys, nowadays, are around 11 they want the hot chick working at checkout counter.

Depends on how young I am, but, probably a bike.

So, let's put myself between the 8-11 yr old range......from TOYS-R-US, I would ask for this

Run drone reconnaissance on your own neighborhood with the Spy Hawk. This unique RC glider sports a built-in 5 megapixel camera that streams a live video feed back to the 3.5" LCD on the controller, which also holds an SD card for recording your flights. Of course, all of that isn't much good if you can't keep the thing in the air, which is where the intelligent autopilot comes in — fly it up to the required height, switch it on, and a built-in gyroscope will work to keep it level, even in gusty winds.

cool

Great for flying over your local woods or swamps in search of bigfoot or other hard to find creatures and such yes

honestly, I saw some skates the other day that just about made me drool.  I'd love to be 6 again and fearless.  I learned to ski at 5 and by 6 was on any hill, and skill level.  So, I would want a snowboard.  Some of the ones they have are so freaking awesome!

Except for that little problem with the FAA and Homeland Security.

I have a friend who is fighting with them in California.  He was taking pictures and video for real estate sales.

I'm fairly certain I would have needed to breath into a paper bag if I opened this on X-mas morning as a little kid. Motorized web shooting!?!? I'm also pretty sure our dog at the time would not have been so enthused.

Awww.  I got a visual of little Nyce running around, webbing the f**k out of anything that would stand still long enough.

When my brother was 4 he used to get my dad's "adult magazines" and open them to the center staples.  Then he would choose HIS favorites...

He also used to love playing with my Barbie dolls......

My parents still get the "1000 yard stare" when the subject of silly string comes up.

I will give up any presents for the rest of my life if I can simply have 10 minutes of Roger Goodell's time to ask him why he is trying to ruin my favorite pro sport.  Between stupid rules that allow teams to be downed and still score 81 yard runs, and the new two hand touch tackles so that no player gets head injuries this has really led me to start thinking of soccer as the "real" version of football.
Eh, nothing thanks

Then, all I wanted was an Atari.

Now, I want a new Xbox.

hahah I never thought of that, but that's not a bad idea! Actually my child is weird...she doesn't like the normal kid stuff. All she wants is a bow and arrow this year.

Are you talking the plastic and rubber tip kind or the real professional one/s? I had legal problems years ago with a cross-bow, that's why I ask

The arrows will be rounded I think. We're going to this place locally that custom makes them, so it's not really professional, per se. I will check laws though to see if that might be something we need to worry about.
