Just wait!  If it's true that Chicago's weather heads your way, it's supposed to be in the 60's this weekend, which will head your way next week, and then as of next WED, we are supposed to, possibly, get hit with our first major snow fall.

So, you should see some warm weather, again, early next week and then, maybe, another blast of chillness!

I live in the worst congressional district in the country.

Jesse Jackson Jr. Is my congressman.
Spent the last 10 months at the Mayo Clinic for insanity and is in the midst of making a plea deal with the Feds so he and his wife can shorten their sentences.

My next congressman will most likely be Mel Reynolds - Again.

He's already served time years in prison for: (I had to go to Wikipedia because I couldn't remember all his crimes off the top of my head.)

Criminal convictions

In August 1994, Reynolds was indicted for sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old campaign volunteer that began during the 1992 campaign.[1] Despite the charges, he continued his campaign and was re-elected that November; he had no opposition. Reynolds initially denied the charges, which he claimed were racially motivated. On August 22, 1995, he was convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography. He resigned his seat on October 1 of that year.

Reynolds was sentenced to five years in prison, thus he expected to be released in 1998. However, in April 1997 he was convicted on 15 unrelated counts of bank fraud and lying to SECinvestigators. These charges resulted in an additional sentence of 78 months in federal prison.

BRAVES FANS -  Congrats on landing BJ (<< Hahahaha) Upton!  yes

Maybe Lindsay Lohan should just stay home!?!?  - Officers with the New York Police Department took Lohan into custody around 4 a.m. this morning following a fight with another woman.
The whole mess started after midnight in Club Avenue. Lohan and the other person involved were seated in separate VIP sections in the nightclub when an altercation broke out between other people in the club. At this point, both Lohan and the other lady got up from their seats, possibly in an attempt to avoid being involved?
But the other lady made the mistake of bumping into Lohan, which caused an exchange of words between the two women. They both sat back down but apparently Lohan was finished yet or maybe trouble was just calling her name because she stood back up and punched the other lady in the face.
The NYPD were called to the scene where Lohan was arrested and carted off to the 10th precinct stationhouse. The other lady, her husband, and another couple, who were with them at the time of the assault, also went to the police department for questioning.
Police officers said the other lady did not sustain injuries that would require medical attention.
Officers issued Lohan a desk appearance ticket. She is set to appear in court on January 11 where she will likely face charges for misdemeanor assault.

MJ banned for CARGO SHORTS - Apparently Michael Jordan's recent fashion blunder caused him to get banned from a South Florida golf course.
During a recent trip to the ritzy 18-hole course at La Gorce Country Club , MJ was asked to change his cargo shorts, on the 12th hole, but refused. The club's rules clearly state all golfers are required to wear a collared shirt and bermuda shorts while playing.
It seems as though celebs aren't excused from the rule. Jordan was reportedly banned from returning for not changing.

"Michael Jordan did wear cargo pants . . . He had been there many times before and had worn cargo pants previously, and had never been made aware that he was violating any dress code. This time, he was made aware of the violation on the 12th hole, and at that point . . . he did refuse to interrupt his game, and return to the clubhouse and change. We were not aware that he is not allowed to return to La Gorce. I guess it’s their loss – as MJ is a great golfer, and a great guest.

My question is, why didn't they say something to him when he signed in and before he tee'd off at the 1st hole?!?!

JASON & KEVIN - Finally, I want to let you all in on a little secret!   Kevin and Jason are HUGE, HUGE, HUGE Christmas fans!  Don't believe anything they say or post on here!   I even have proof!  I was in FLORIDA yesterday and on my way to the airport, I saw them in Jason's car!

I had 2 numbers and the powerball on one of the 57 tickets we had.  Don't know what the payout is.  Florida lottery is offline or something.

Just spent way too much money at the store.  The girls are asking for Elmo juice. indecision Hold the jokes please.
I couldn't find any juice with an Elmo face on it.  I don't like to disappoint them, but hell, if it's at Walmart, they are
never gonna have it at my house.   There is a reason young women have toddlers.  My back hurts, I'm tired.  They're killing me.  heart

I will be taking half the week off next week, can't find a sitter.   But, started charging Flounder Room and board.  That should make up the difference at the end of the month.

Entertain me.   Please.

I'm not sure about correction without surgery, I'm sure there are things I can do to help. It's a lifer. It should get worse, not better, but maybe I can slow it down a little, screw that A lot! this is not for you.

When will I see you again
You left with no goodbye
Not a single a word was said
No final kiss to seal or anything
I had no idea of the state we were in

I know I have a fickle heart
And a bitterness and a wandering eye and a heaviness in my head

[chorus]
But don't you remember
Don't you remember
The reason you loved me before
Baby, please remember me once more

When was the last time
You thought of me
Oh have you completely erased me from your memory
I often think about where I went wrong
The more I do the less I know
I know I have a frickle heart
And a bitterness and a wandering eye and a heaviness in my head

[chorus]
But don't you remember
Don't you remember?
The reason you loved me before
Baby, please remember me once more

Gave you the space so you could breathe,
I kept my distance so you would be free,
And hope that you find the missing piece,
To bring you back to me,

[chorus]
Why don't you remember?
Don't you remember?
The reason you loved me before
Baby, please remember me once more

When will I see you again

So, We Have No Powerball, Lotto, Etc. I honestly wish we did though, but not for the obvious reason. You see, Bingo is king here on island. 1 out of 2 people here can call themselves a bingo-holic. If we had Powerball, which is waaay much shorter than bingo (5-6 hours every night except Sundays), Children's lives would be full of their parents helping them out with homework every night, I guess. At the moment, it be right back kids, just watch some TV.

It's still f**king snowing.  We now have a lot of snow.  *by the time I measure it, a lot more will have fallen

It isn't supposed to stop snowing until NEXT weekend.  That isn't like tomorrow, that's like 9 days from now.  Then it only stops for two days and starts snowing again.

I haven't even put my truck in 4X4 yet tho, so I think I'll be okay.

A FB friend just posted that the Bucs have signed Russell Martin.  I can't find confirmation of it anywhere on the web.  If it's true, the power would be great, but I can't get excited about a guy who hits 20 HR and barely bats above the Mendoza line.  I would, however, like to see the Bucs make a bid for Bourn now that the Bravos signed Upton.

I have one more day of working in linen, it's almost over, and I never want to have to do this crap again as long as I live!

Yep, sadly, it's true.  Martin was a good catcher for the Yanks, but his bat would often let his team down.  The Yankees are THIN at catcher...Cervelli?  Austin Romine?  They're looking at A.J. Pierzynski (sp?)....I hope not.....

I'll just post here what I was going to post in the Hot Stove thread.

The Pirates have signed Russell Martin to a 2 year, $17 million deal. Martin hit .211/.311/.403 last year, but that average was a result of a very low .222 BABIP. Basically, either Martin was very unlucky last year or his bat speed is completely gone. Since the latter would've been obvious to scouts and analysts, it can be reasonably assumed it was the former. Martin can obviously take a walk, which is of course a huge plus. In Pittsburgh, I would expect the average to go up just by regression to the mean, and thus the OBP is his walk rate remains steady, which is should since its been consistent his whole career. I would expect less power just because he can't take advantage of Yankee Stadium anymore. He's although a decent catch and throw guy. Overall: an improved average and OBP, less power, and either way, a huge upgrade on Rod Barajas.

After a crappy first half, utilizing a quarterback with a broken wrist and a sprained ankle, our defense showed up and we are going to Miami.  Thank you, gift horse.

Yes, commissioner, we'll take your trophy and your championship and see ourselves out the door in 2014.

And doesn't Martin have a pretty decent arm? I thought he had a good % vs baserunners/steals last year?

Boss said we were getting our retroactive pay and raise this paycheck.  We didn't get it.  I'm pissed.

According to B/R, 30% for his career, which is slight above average. Last year, he was at 24%, which was essentially average (a tick below at 25%). Both of those are way better than Barajas, who somehow only threw out 6% last year.

One thing I didn't know though is that Martin is apparently among the best in baseball in pitch framing.

Damn, I love analyzing baseball moves. /nerd /single

It was only one year he hit that badly; his career average is over .270. Power numbers have increased each year, however, so that is a good sign. Only problem I see with Pirates is not enough left-handed power besides Walker Alvarez (Switch hitter) and Jones to balance it out in the lineup with McCutcheon, Sanchez, Martin, Barmes. Maybe they go after someone in a trade.....? And I think they may be interested in Mets Mike Pelfrey, who was returning to 2010 performance when he went out with injury. Be a steal if they get him for minor league power bats.

Yep, sadly, it's true.  Martin was a good catcher for the Yanks, but his bat would often let his team down.  The Yankees are THIN at catcher...Cervelli?  Austin Romine?  They're looking at A.J. Pierzynski (sp?)....I hope not.....
Pierzynski at Yankee Stadium? He'd hit 40 Hrs with his power to right center gaps. Ouch.
