This is a rare year when there are a number of quality players on the ballot.  I'd also add Tim Raines and am still thinking about maybe Biggio.

None of the steroids users should be in the HOF. for the same reason Rose isn't in: best interests of baseball. they cheated to get ahead; if they get in, then put in shoeless joe jackson who wasn't found to bet on baseball but was barred from the game for life.

Rose isn't barred because of any "best interest" kind of thing.  He is barred because he blatantly broke what has been for decades baseball's only violation that warranted their version of the death penalty.  The rule existed when he made his bets.  He knew what the consequences would be and he did it anyway.
Steroids were indeed banned substances but there was no testing nor was there any punishment for their use back in the '90's.
I thought the Hall was for the very good players throughout history.
If cheaters in general were barred from the Hall there would be no one enshrined there at all.

That's true.  And his accomplishments are chronicaled in the museum.  But he himself is not allowed to be enshrined there due to the rule the he blatantly broke.

The really terrible thing is if he had kept his betting to other MLB games and NOT Reds games, he would be in the Hall today.  The ban is only for wagering on games involving your own team.

Like it or not...  Those are the rules.

Only in an anarchistic society would that be true. Rules are meant to be followed by all people so as to  maintain some semblance of civility and sanity

come on, Civility has been thrown out the window. Rose belongs in the Hall for what he did on the diamond, not punished for what he did off it.
