Let me tell you about my allergy to Almonds.

One time my grandma was babysitting us when my parents went to Paris.  My grandma is addicted to chocolate and so in her stuff she brought over some chocolate.  One of which was a Hershey’s bar with almonds.

Now.. she was staying with us for like a week and there was a pack of 6 as well as some other chocolate there too so I took a bar and went to school.

I ate it on the bus.

I got home from school and my grandma was all…

DID YOU EAT MY CANDYBAR?

Wtf?  No… ( I totally did)
So my grandma was like.. well it wasn’t yours to eat and you shouldn’t have taken it.

I DIDN’T.. ( I totally did)

So I ran upstairs and locked myself in the bathroom.

She came running after me with my sister who had my pink Esprit bag in her hand.

“GRANDMA THE WRAPPER IS IN HER BAG..” my sister screamed.. (ugh brat!)

:blast.. I’m not very sneaky:

I DIDN’T EAT IT!!!!

My grandma was all.. why was the wrapper in your bag?

Me.. being so clever was like.. “It’s all Heather, she probably ate it and then stuck it in my bag so she could blame me!!!”

“I doubt that really happened.. why would Heather put it in your bag?”

“she just likes to see me get in trouble”

“I don’t think that’s the truth I think you ate it…”

….

Silence through the bathroom door

….

…..

“Grandma I didn’t eat it… I couldn’t have.  I am allergic to almonds”

From that point on I had to go with it.  I don’t think we ever told my mom but I have not had almonds since….cause I am allergic.

This whole Bob Costas thing has everybody missing the point or larger issue that guns and domestic violence are a part of. Violence in general and especially murders.

Based on 2010 numbers compared to other countries very similar to the US in terms of cultural/socio-economic factors/laws etc.
United States -
9X Canadian population, 27X the murders
5 X UK pop., 19X the number of murders
and those numbers have steadily decreased over the past 20 years, but geezus, still!?!!

The gun culture is just a part of a larger history of violence. It's not Genration Kill, it's GENERATIONS.

Costas whiffed on this imo.

.Grrrrrrrrrama,
"Why are you so grouchy?" ask the little darlings.

1.  strawberry milk on the carpet.
2.  broken curtain rod in the bedroom
3.  "We don't like that kind of noodle"
4.  "We want a snack"
5.  "Julie pooped her pants!"
6.  "I don't know why the tv stopped working"
7.   "Mine"
8.  "I had it first"

I'm baking cookies.   Hurry up, baby mama, save me.

Once again my favorite line in life was spoken today.  I grew up as a white man in a military town with many other ethnicities grouped together.  I find it hilarious when I hear people say "if you don't speak english get out of the U.S.A!"  What makes me laugh about this comment, is that a lot of these people uttering that phrase are the same one's who say, "I can't even turn my computer on!"  They also normally can't figure out self-checkout lines, how to give exact change, and how to Just say NO to drugs!

He said that in his opinion both those two people would still be alive if the guy didn't own a gun. Hence no one should be allowed to own guns cause they are dangerous and distructive.

I know u said u didn't want to know what he said now , and since ya said that i wanted to be sure ya knew.

Hola amigos y amigas!

2nd day of unemployment and I still couldn't sleep in this morning. I hope that changes. It might help if I remembered to turn off the alarm on my phone so it didn't wake me at 6:45 M-F.

So I have been gone for a while, I try to log on here at night but its pretty boring when no one else is online. Have I missed anything?

Laurel, I know how you feel. I had all 3 of mine here yesterday. I had a nice little conversation with Marley about Santa.
Me: Do you like Santa Claus, Marley?
Her: No
Me: Why not?
Her: He is mean and he will lock kids up in a cage.
Me: No he won't. He brings you presents.
Her: No, I don't want him to.
Me: Well how are you gonna get presents for Christmas?
Her: My mommy and daddy will buy them.
Me: Well....okay then.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

The Holiday Potluck was today. Thus, I'm now fighting between needing to hit the gym soon and wanting to take a nap. Today was also the final day of office Penny Wars. Having forgotten last year, I had two years worth of change. We counted and my contribution was over $44. indecision

Having see the Costas discussion, and I have two points (Note: I did not watch the Costas commentary, as I did not watch the Sunday night game). I really don't think either of these are particularly controversial.*

1.) It is easier to kill someone if you have a gun than it is if you do not have a gun.
2.) We as a society have decided that the right to own guns is paramount, and that shooting deaths and mass murders are the price to pay for that.

*Again, always remember that for me, everything is politics.

New Libtard thread might be necessary, due to the above corollary.

Well, with my parents if I didn't ask permission and did something anyway their disappointment in me broke my heart. It was easier just to ask them permission.

With my husband, there is no "permission" - he's not my keeper and I'm not his. There's a "would you mind if..." and discussion out of respect for major things, if it's something I know he would like me to run by him or vice versa. If it's about a small enough amount of money or something else minor we just trust each other enough to make good decisions. If it's about something major and we decide that it's a "no, it's not a good idea" or if it's major enough that we should discuss it but we do it anyway, there's a breakdown of trust there that could damage a relationship. But, everyone's different I suppose.

I have a cast iron frying pan.

I have a meat cleaver.

I have a meat tenderizer hammer (that thing scares the f**k outta me).

I ask permission at work.  I do not anyone at home for permission.  I discuss with others in my household the possible repercussions of certain actions.

My daughter is sick with a wicked cold and cough.  Our pharmacist gave me some pure menthol in a handkerchief that we can heat up in the microwave to give all of us sinus relief.  It works so well!!! He is a huge black man I met when he first moved here from Nigeria about 14 years ago and we have remained friends, even though he has not always been my pharmacist.  The man is awesome.  He has dropped everything to help our family out when it has been needed.  My daughter developed shingles a month or so ago, after a huge amount of stress at school.  That man helped us more with that situation than our doctor was able to.  I truly love him and he knows it.  Tomorrow he will get  a phone call from me thanking him for all he does for us.  And for the fist time in a long time, I will probably buy a Christmas "something" from our family for someone I am not "expected" to.

It is f**king cold here and snowing.  I am sick of winter and it isn't even winter for another two weeks.

Anyone want to adopt me?? Marry me?  Give me a job??  Smuggle me across the border/?? ANYTHING?????
