1st concert without your family
Many tv shows and movies have depicted young Johnny or young Susy heading to the "big city" to go to a rock concert without mom or dad knowing about it.  So this got me to thinking, how old were you when you went to your first unchaperoned concert and who was performing?

back in the day when it was still affordable we LIVED at Summerfest in Milwaukee. there was no extra ticket needed to see the main stage acts. now you gotta shuck out a fortune to see the main event.  saw way too many top acts to remember which was the first. and some of the best shows were on the much smaller side stages.

I was 10 at my first concert with my 2 older sisters.  They were babysitting me and we hitchhiked indecision11 miles to see Rush
at Ferris State College.  Fly By Night tour.   I think it was 1975ish.

The first concert family free was Triumph-Never Surrender tour in 1983.  11 kids in the car,  smaller ones in the trunk.
Convention Center Arena in San Antonio.

I   was  14  yrs.  old  and  I   got  to  take  the   train  into  MSG  with  a  bunch  of  my  friends   to  see  Billy  Joel.   About  a  month  or  two  later,  we  all  met  up  again  because  he  was  at  Nassau  Coliseum  for  the  same  tour,  but  this  time  our  parents  had  to  drive  us,  'cause  no one  was  old  enough  to  drive  yet.   I think  it  cost  something  like $18.00  for  the  ticket.  Now,  you  can't  ride  the  LIRR  full  distance  each  way  for  that  price.  But  the  price  of  a  concert  ticket  from  then  to  now,  I  don't  know  how  the  kids  afford  it.
