Welcome back. This is the part of the locker room where you can sit and chat and chill for a while without offending or being shushed. Maybe you wanna watch a dvd or listen to your mp3. Yes, I rhymed. Something on your mind, post it! Random question, ask it? Hijacking is allowed and encouraged. Join the party, troll around, have a beer. It's cool. All are welcome, but please leave all BS in the hall.

Whatever. I don't feel great and I want a bowl of grits with patty sausage and cheesy eggs mixed in. Then I want to lie on the floor with a blanket and pass away for 7 hours, then i want to be teleported to my bed and curl up for 8 more hours then watch friends and sip a cocktail until I fall back asleep. I don't think thats too much to ask.

Nyce, gearhead, and Stoney? Do you believe in evolution?

ASH  - I feel the same way this morning.....well, except for the Grits part.

A really good friend from HS had his dad pass away on NYE - Sudden Heart Attack while driving 40mph with his wife in the car!  Thank god she was ok, but, his oldest son (my friend) and his wife and 2 kids were in the car behind and witnessed the whole thing.  Services are tomorrow.  His mom and dad were like a 2nd set of parents to me, growing up........I am not taking this very well (sigh).

I too, lost a great friend this week. His birthday was Dec. 23rd, he turned 48. He had a stroke on Dec. 26th, and he passed away on the 28th. He was our neighbor at first, then became a lifelong friend. He moved a year ago to NC, so we hadn't seen him for a while, but talked on the phone, or e-mailed. We talked last to him on Christmas Eve... we were always late for his birthday. We had our last laugh about that. Who knew that would be our last conversation? RIP Dan K.

first off, yes I believe in evolution.  Look at how humans have evolved in just the last 300 years due to genetics and adaptation to an exponentially changing way of life.  Now if you believe like I do that the world is not 6000 years old and probably closer to 14 billion years old, and the oldest human ancestors found are believed to be about 3 million years old, I have an easy time believing that there is an evolutionary connection.  3 million years.. it's beyond feasible comprehension for most people to conceive what could happen in the span of 3 million years.  How closely related species can go off on separate evolutionary trails, over time growing a little further apart in appearance, but still based on the same relative genetic makeup with a few disparities.  That's my quick answer and that's why I roll my eyes at people who ask that if evolution is true then why are there still monkeys.  Sometimes, staying in the dark and refusing to accept tangible truths in favor of comforting myths is a lot easier to deal with

My thoughts about J's sleeping habits lately can best be summed up with #DregerFace

I've got the annual pond hockey tournament coming up this weekend and frankly I'm quite excited aboot it

I think Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are getting snubbed.. The Heist is a top 5 album this year

I'm sure I have more but I keep getting distracted by stupid work

(****edit: I also would like to take a second to raise awareness for dress wedgies.. thanks)

(****2nd edit: I also forgot to say congrats to the USA world junior hockey team for handing Canada a big sh*t sandwich early this morning.  Off to the finals)

It's 39F here today Kurt, so you can bitch all you want :)

I woke up determined to get out of this funk.   It will be hard because the negativity is around me and it's really hard to find positive in the death and cremation of a good friend, or the death of a dog who was just protecting, but I am going to do my very best.  Took a wack of vitamins and minerals that are supposed to promote well-being.  Wish me luck.

It's getting a little lighter outside in the mornings, minute by minute, but still.....

Hmm... probably should've asked this when my brain was a little less cloudy :|. I had to read that twice. I'm pretty sure you just told me why there are still monkeys though (it is a fair question). I may understand, I will think about it and revisit this later. Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

Who the f*** is this dreger person?
#16 | 468 days ago

Today is my godfather's visitation at the funeral home.  The plus side is that I get to visit with his granddaughters, who were my bffs growing up.  Jenny now runs a farm animal sanctuary near Woodstock, NY and Loren is an oncology nurse at a children's hospital in Boston, so it's rare that we get to see each other these days.

My favorite pre-game quote from the Sugar Bowl last night is "No one here thinks Louisville can win this game."  And to speak quite honestly, I know our SOS is light.  I would've been completely happy to beat the spread. In hindsight, with the victory last night, I am sorry I ever doubted my coach and my team.  I understand that one win over a top five team does not establish us as a dominant football power.  By no means have we "arrived."  At the same time, I think we're well on our way and Charlie understands and is doing what it takes to get us there.

Here are a couple of my favorite images from last night:

What I CAN'T find a picture of is Charlie with confetti stuck to his head--the moment that made me laugh through my happy tears.

I can't believe vacation is almost over..(ugh) I feel nine again (lol) I found a pic of my nine year old self and sent it and a brief note to the sisters 3. They were not amused (who would of thought?) Carry on with your entertaining selves! btw: I'm working on some silly polls and tivia questions, I will try not to mutter up your pages til after midnight, so hopefully they will be gone by the time you arrive manana....

It's January and there's still no NHL hockey. My favorite part of the NHL season is the All-Star Superskills Comp. This ish is starting to make me really crabby.

My back is being a ******* ****-******* ****-******. I've stretched, exercised, taken meds, used heat, used ice, used Bengay, Icy-Hot, and Bio-Freeze, and it's still having regular spasms from between my shoulder blades all the way to the small of it. I was up until 5am NYE/NYD and it woke me up at 8:30, spasming (that's not a word but I can't find it in myself to care right now). I couldn't sleep last night or the night before. It feels like my ribs are collapsing when I lay down. I'm about to flip out.

/rant.

I need to take my decorations down. This weekend, I promise.

It was nice to see Ray Lewis stay manly during his retirement announcement.  Unlike some of the coaches I saw.

Ooops, just now noticed your question Ash. Yes, absolutely. Just because we haven't figured it out completely doesn't mean we can't or won't or whatever. Science is an ongoing process where we prove or disprove something on a continual basis. Plus there is nothing anywhere that says we came from apes. It's theorized that we are more like distant, distant, distant genetic 'cousins' (millions of years removed on the giant, genealogical tree) with a common ancestor. Hence the archaeological/biological search for the "missing link."

Intelligent design is purely philosophical, not scientific. It would be like trying to debate astronomy vs. astrology. Nope. That debate should be reserved for Christianity vs Buddhism for example.

Just got home from welcoming MOST of the team back from Nawlins.  Charlie's recruiting and Teddy's visiting with his mama, so we'll have a community-wide celebration with the whole team at a later date.

I LOVED watching the guys as the busses filed in.  They were honored to have the fans gather to welcome them home.  A couple of them told me the only sleep they've gotten was on the plane.  Good for them.  They deserve to enjoy such a huge win for our program.  I'm still on cloud 9 and I'm sorry (or not) that I may gloat for a few days.  I'm like a proud mama hen.
Meanwhile, a couple of reasons Charlie is so awesome...

Gonzo came home today in an urn.  His wife put one of his T-shirts around the urn, then put it on his chair.   The dogs (they have 5 shitzus that he loved with everything in him, plus a Lab/Newfounlander cross) climbed up into his chair for the first time since he went to the hospital, except for the night that we visited and she insisted my son sit in his chair.  Two of the dogs climbed up and slept on his lap for an hour that night.

She wanted to spend some time alone tonight, with just her and their son and him, in his urn, with his T-shirt on.  I'm on "sob" watch, in case things get the better of her, as she has had her friend from her home town visiting until this morning.

First, what I find the most interesting about this is the fact that I KNOW you read Stoney's answer when he posted it, which means you thought he randomly broke into a spiel on evolution, and you didn't even blink. Skirted right over it. You probably swooned a little too. Crazy bromances. Funny. Also, my brain is less cloudy today and I had to still read that twice. Lots of adult words. Now, I think YOU just told me why monkeys/apes still exist. Hmm... I see....

Aren't astronomy and astrology basically the same thing? Thanks for responding.
