I'm not sure how a movie can get the nod without the director also getting nominated? That never made any sense to me. I also think it's time to recognize *air quotes* blockbuster as well. The genre has really become something more than michael bay blowing crap up. Same can be said for really, really well done comedies.

I don't think I went to one movie last year except for Batman.

I don't know who got nominated, so I don't know who got snubbed.

But I did see a record 4 movies in the theaters this year.

This will be another year that I haven't seen any of the nominations (or heard of most of them), though I plan on watching Django Unchained and Silver Linings Playbook when they are released to rental in March.

The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Lincoln, and Django, usually I will go to the theater maybe twice a year max.

Ben Affleck is a pretty darn good director and Argo was a great movie. I'm guessing Bigelow didn't get nominated because she directed another documentary style movie.....I don't know. These movies don't direct themselves.

Kenne, I have seen both, and in my opinion, neither will disappoint you.

I've seen none of these movies, but I listed my surprises anyway...

The only real snub I would think is Affleck directing Argo.

I only saw two of the 9 films nominated for best picture.  Argo and LincolnArgo was clearly the superior picture.  I liked it.  It was good...  But "best picture" good?  I don't think so....

I thought this was a fairly weak year for movies.  Yes, there were good ones but no REALLY good one.
