FIRST!!!

Morning Q'ers!  Today is the first day of a LOOOOONNNNNGGG Journey until football season opens again in 7 months....Sundays will be for hockey now, then baseball in the spring....

I enjoyed the game last night, and was happy that Coach Harbaugh was victorious.  Actually, wanted to see the Ravens win, and was happy about that.  Just had a few of my son's friends over to watch the game.  Listening to Nantz and Simms, I think I hate Simms MORE than Collinsworth....I never thought it could happen.

Here's today's pic...

Have a GREAT Monday!

I loved watching the Waste Management Open yesterday, this was a huge option to having 24/7/365 coverage of the Super Bowl on.  Having turned on the Clippers/Celtics game long enough for KG to try and start something with Blake Griffen, have to wonder how likely the reports are that the Celtics are trying to send Garnett to the Clippers?

Morning, Everybodee!

Well, I think I'm set up for CSULA trip this next weekend.  My daughter and several others are participating in an honor band on campus.  4 from band, 3 from choir.    2 might not show, as their mother is in military, and she has exercises that weekend.  She's trying to get clear so she can come with us.  But if she's not coming, her daughter and one other (who is staying with them) won't be coming.  That would mean I would need to incorporate one girl into our hotel room.  As a father and a gentleman, I would probably be sleeping on the floor or in my van in that case.  (room is too small, er, cozy for a cot.  I asked.)

Oh, and on Saturday, one girl has a drum corp competition about an hour away from the university.  I've already arranged with the group to deliver her halfway so she compete.  Oh, this will be a fun weekend.

Chicken George is on the view...and reading rainbow.

Phil Simms should've been fired immediately. Fawful.

I like "As a father and a gentleman". It should be the title of a Lifetime/Hallmark movie or a good book. Hell, I'm sure I'd watch it if it was an Adam Sandler comedy even.

I enjoyed all of the movie trailers y'day.

Oh, Clydesdale commercial was as bad as Phil Simms.

Oh, the Harbaugh handshake after the game is exactly why I prefer the Harbaugh that I do.

I'm not loving the skinny faced Tim Mcgraw that much, but I don't mind those new abs.

Happy post apocalyptic super bowl Monday!

So the game was a bit of a snooze fest for the first half through halftime, but you couldn't have asked for a more eventful 3rd Quarter.  Twitter was gd hilarious.
I had a good time watching the game.  Twin Peaks had a surprisingly diverse menu for an all you can eat event.  I think our table went through a ton of chips and queso, a few double cheeseburgers, a shrimp basket, chicken tender basket, cheese filled mini brats, fried pickles, and cheese sticks.  And the girls were nice enough to wear NFL lingerie as they served and hung out.  Good times.
Knowshon Moreno was sitting next to us and at one point sparked up a black and mild. He doesn't have the status to pull that off for more than about 30 seconds
I'm still pissed at the 49ers playcalling on their goalline drive at the end
I liked the Go Daddy commercial more because how many people hated or were disgusted by it
I don't care about the ads with a message, but I liked the Budweiser commercial, they always do it right with the Clydesdales
My other favorites were the Taco Bell old people and the Audi prom.  Other than that, they were meh

I really don't care about Beyonce, I don't listen to her music and yes she has a fat ass, but she's nothing you can't find a million times over in less clothes on the internet.. I thought what she did at her little presser during the week was C-wordish though.
Oh, and why can't people just sing the national anthem instead of trying to turn it into some god damn aria? 30-45 seconds tops

Avs are on national television tonight.  Don't judge my fandom if you see what a mess they are

Fights on saturday were awful except for Bigfoot Silva dropping the hammer of Thor down on Alistair Overeem's jaw a dozen times

oh and here's my new favorite jam

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - Castle

[Hook]
Unicorns and wizard sleeves
Hammer pants and make believe
Pirate ships sailing off to sea
Well you can party with me in my
Castle, in my castle, in my castle, in my castle

[Verse 1]
This is for the freaks and for my magicians
Booty clap and lap dancing technicians
Dance parties in the name of Great Britain
And American girls who love the Detroit Piston
Like Dennis Rodman, I got a rod man (awww yeah!)
Long wong-dong in a soft hand
And a ping-pong pink schlong, let's all dance!

From England to Stockholm
I'm wearing a cape just like a poncho
I got a cutey and I'm making a beat on her booty
Like I was at Bonnaroo beating up on a bongo

I got a bottle of Martinelli's and I'm dumping
It on anybody that's kicking it in the grotto

And the neighbors keep tripping, like I'm in a castle
F*ck your condo!

[Bridge]
Unicorns and wizard sleeves
Hammer pants and make believe
Pirate ships sailing off to sea

[Hook]

[Verse 2]
You like to party, I am a party-er
You like to wander, I am a wanderer
Your thighs are the closet to Narnia
Is it cool if I go and get lost in that?

I'm the lion, the witch in the wardrobe
Massage my lap, I have a sore bone
Of course cold on the dance floor
Like an Eskimo's toes in the North Pole
With both toes poking out of two holes
In the Eskimo socks
, I'm hot
Like a cauldron from a warlock
Wearing sweatpants in a sauna

Who's your father? I'm not
I'm motherf**kin' Raven Bowie and here's my c*ck
Rooster,Cock-a-doodle-doo sir

Take a hit of the hookah, now make it drop
Girl's booty was bigger than the stomach of Rick Ross'
Holy mother mountain of tender tending you get lost in
Bounce, bounce, that castle booty, that bottom

Make it wobble, wobbly-wobble 'till my third leg has to hobble
You don't want to look back on this night
And think I should have been freaking on a booty
Freak-freaking on a booty

[Hook]

[Interlude]
This might be the best night that we have ever had
That-that we have ever had
That-that we have ever had
That-that we have ever had together
Eh, motherf**kin' eh

[Bridge 2]
Have you ever killed a coyote in the middle of a party
In the night, in the middle of a party
Have you ever killed a coyote in the middle of the night
In the middle of a party
Brought it home and threw it on the carpet
Sit and kill a coyote, I'm starving
Who wants to eat a coyote?
Who wants to eat a coyote?
Who wants to eat a coyote?

Bring my bagpipe, I grab my flute
Cause drunk King John is still the lieu
Get onto the pole in a birthday suit, our suit
And M.J. was King, and Prince was Prince
And Raven has ruled ever since

Milan Hejduk's 1000th game as an Avalanche tonight against Dallas.  Where do you rate him all time Avalanche player?  I would have been cordial, however I have never been much of a Knowshon Moreno fan.  I flew in last night and will be catching the game while eating Prime Rib at The Keg tonight.  Go Avs!

That's a fantastic question.  Based solely on a player's time with the Avalanche, I'd have him top 5
1. Sakic
2. Roy
3. Forsberg
4. Foote
5. Hejduk

Have fun tonight!! I still haven't been to a game this year but I'm looking at doing the Nashville afternoon game the 18th and Blues game the 20th

I thought the refs let a ton of stuff go (both ways) not just that 4th & goal OPI / hold. They did a horrible job.
Twitter on the other hand, like Stoney said, was in rare form. Here's my SB tweet of the night - Becky on that RAM truck commercial:

Even without context, she wins. Actually, it may be better as a stand alone statement. I may print it out and stick it on my fridge. Everything Bane related was a very close second. Honorable mentions include: Buffalo Wild Wings, All the Tostitos and Homophobic-pass interference jokes. Well done everybody everywhere all at the same time.

I wonder how many players in any sport would end up on two different teams top 5 like maybe Roy. I say he's a Habs top 5 as well, but I may be alone in this since there are clearly 2 other Goalies ahead of him Plante / Dryden. Okay I'm totally alone with this, but still a solid question. This may need a poll.

By the light of the LED display of a VCR recorder
You kiss my neck, I whisper in your ear, "this is my downfall"
As you squint and you grimace, we both know your heart's not in it

By the glow of a thousand fireflies in a travelodge en-suite:
They think the future's bright as halogen, we know it's pretty bleak
And I'm trying to be sexy, biting at the air that falls in front of me.

Your telegrams are more and more less detailed by the day
And all the characters are strangers and the pubs have different names
I tell a joke that I'd like to meet them but they loathe me and I hate them back

Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Fondness makes the absence longer
Length loses my interest, I'm a realist, I'm insatiable
Swapped counting days until I fly, with hours before your reply

You said he got his teeth fixed
I'm gonna break them
I've got a heart on fire
He said he's got his sights set
On getting to you
I've got a fist on fire

You feel terrified at the thought of being left behind
Of losing everybody, the necessity of dying
Oh, WE KID OURSELVES THERE'S FUTURE IN THE F***ING,
BUT THERE IS NO F***ING FUTURE
I'm just practising my accents, picking at old sutures

I taught myself the only way to vaguely get along in love
Is to like the other slightly less than you get in return
I keep feeling like I'm being undercut

Charlotte says, "It's more constructive than the one in Canada,
When you got drunk,
Ate loads of crisps
And threw up by a football pitch"
I know it is,
And really that's what worries me,
I feel like I should
Hurt.

You said he got his teeth fixed
I'm gonna break them
I've got a heart on fire
He said he's got his sights set
On getting to you
I've got a fist on fire

I cannot emphasise enough that my body
Is a badly designed, poorly put together vessel,
Harbouring these diminishing, so-called 'vital organs'
Hope my heart goes first,
I HOPE MY HEART GOES FIRST!

And
We are beautiful,
We are doomed.

Hmmm, just ran that up the flag pole with truthers back home. It came down to either him and (oddly enough another Rockie) Andres Gallaraga in the Expos top 5 with Raines, Dawson, Carter and Vlady. I would have had Tim Wallach above both of them as well. idk? Walker was insanely popular though, so it may be affecting our choice, since his stats were only kinda "good" and not great in Montreal. Different era too... now I'm swinging back to Walker again. I need to stop.

Those were some good Expo squads- back then it was toss up of who the best player in MLB was- Raines or Henderson- both ended up being excellent Yankees!!!!

Missed the Budweiser commercial, so hope I do get to see it soon.  Loved the Audi and Hyundai commercials (so I guess that means I am juvenile) and didn't like the M&M's commercial - just saw it again, and nope, didn't like it any better today.  Hated the GoDaddy one - made me want to hurl.  HUGE fail.  The goad was cute.  The Century 21 commercials were just kinda there, not bad or good.  Likewise with the Pepsi commercials.  Saw some of the movie trailers, and am anxiously waiting for Fast 6, but a trailer isn't going to convince me to see a movie I hadn't planned to in the first place.

It's warm today and sunny, so I am happy.  I'd forgotten what life was like with a puppy. I'm exhausted!

When change happens, it moves quickly.

I stopped paying attention to the ads after the Audi one. I hated it that much ("yeah dude, it's totally OK to grab a girl and make out with her without her knowing it's you! She'll totally dig it! Her date will punch you in the face, but it's totally worth it, bro!"). Luckily that means I didn't actually notice the GoDaddy ad the first time around. So glad I don't have to deal with Danica as much anymore.

As usual, I'm quite ready for the football break. I have already two sports that I basically follow all year round. I don't need at third, especially one as ubiquitous and pervasive as football.

I love how just bleating about "momentum" passes for actual analysis in a football game. Simms was always worse than Collinsworth, and I'm glad people now realize that. The CBS studio team is beyond terrible too.

What best describes the Caps season so far: the Price is Right loser horn or the Press Your Luck whammy?

It's a group of people trying to go as long as possible without knowing the result of the Super Bowl (which they call #TheKnowledge). The concept came from Kyle Whelliston at The Mid Majority. It's fascinating, admirable, and a little strange all at once.

You're a crazy person. He was going to HIS prom (that he didn't really want to)... she probably knew who he was. He was feeling fancy and bold because his dad gave him the keys to the Audi, which is better than a benz or a lexus, and I want one when I grow up. He parked in the principal's spot because he was feeling invincible and he went in and kissed the girl he's probably wanted to kiss since freshman year. He took that punch to the face to have a memory neither will forget. It was unrealistic and too too cute. FFS, a goat screamed last night (heh!).

The only Super Bowl ad I saw last night was the nasty-ass GoDaddy one, and that was because they played it right after the game. :vomit:

I set the Walking Dead to record yesterday, and because I forgot to switch the settings to "save all" rather than just 5 episodes, guess what? I'm an idiot. And I'm ticked.

We had our bi-annual housing inspection today. I hate those. I'm always psychotic about the state of my house. It's not easy to be a good housekeeper when I also work full time (+) and don't have a ton of help because my husband always works full time + and my daughter is 11 years old...and whenever we get a day off the last thing we want to do is hang out inside. Ugh.

I feel like I don't have anything nice to say today so I'm gonna mosey. Have a good day!

Oh, P.S....hockey's on. Come watch with me.

Okay, I'm sorry, but inspection for what?? To make sure you keep a clean house? To see if you have actual furniture? To make sure you aren't punching holes in the walls?? What?

haha actually it's not that big of a deal. The housing guys come in to make sure nothing needs replaced, everything is working correctly (heaters, etc.) It's actually kind of nice. They replace batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, make sure we don't have any complaints/issues/etc. And really, according to pretty much everyone, I'm psychotic about nothing when it comes to my house. It's presentable - just not as clean as *I* would like it to be, because I just don't have time to keep up on it any more than picking up, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, laundry, etc. regularly. My mom is one of those people who washes the windows and wipes down the walls, waxes the floors, etc. like a madman...so when I don't get to that kind of stuff regularly, I feel like a failure. These guys aren't looking at that kind of stuff - they're more concerned with making sure that the house is comfortable and habitable for us.

I absolutely LOVED the Clydesdale commercial. Dang..it brought tears to my eyes tho (and I hate that in a room full of friends!)
The godaddy (what Jess said) commercial...I literally was gagging...ugh!

My Mom cracks me the hello up!  She says yesterday "I turned my TV to the big game cause I knew my girls was watching it. WTH was that?  3 half nekked women..is that football now? I had to call Elenar (my Aunt), ask her WTH!"  LOL  She's 82 and had to explain to her that was the halftime show, "yes..I agree, but Mom, men love that so..it is what it is".  She says "what? well, I was embarrassed and I was by myself!  No wonder kids act like they do today..those little things were all excited and singing with....I couldn't understand a word she said, could you!?" "No Mama...actually, I went to the bathroom and accidentally on purpose missed all but bout 5 mins. But you'd think...New Orleans..Louisiana...Tim McGraw...now THAT woulda been an awesome halftime show!" Mom - "Yes hon, you got that right! You girls get on your computers and let whoever know..that was not fittin' for little children...or women! I was so disgusted, I turned the tv off and went to bed! Did your team win hon?" "Yes ma'am, I'm sure Goodell has heard all about it..but Mama, you missed a great game!" (My Sister) "Yeah..Beyonce caused the power to go out with all that gyratin' energy..caused power surge! (Stands up and imitates)  Mom - "Good Lord..I'm goin' home!" LOL
