For all my fellow Puckheads, today is the 33 year anniversary of The Miracle on Ice.

I met Jim Craig a couple years ago at our John Deere parts expo, he was the closing speaker. He had some awesome stories about that team, but I don't remember any of them angel

Snowing like a mofo here!

It's my fiiiinds birthday today, we're getting a limo to go bar hopping in. I've never ridden in a limo, do I have to dress up?

Thinking about wearing my Hawaiian shirt and purple tie underneath my winter coat. That should be dressy enough right?

We all know how awesome BEANS is, right?!?!?

Well, I found some rare, rare footage of BEANS performing at the age of 2!!!  You all thought he was a great guitar player?! HAAA!  Check out his "JIVE" skills right here!

A wife goes out for a night on the town with the girls, telling her husband she’ll be home around midnight.

Midnight passes by, drinks are flowing, the girls are laughing and having a great time. At around 2:45 in the morning, drunk as hell, she finally gets a cab and makes her way back home.

She gets to the front door and ever-so-gently nudges it open, not making a sound. She takes her shoes off, again not making a sound. Knowing her husband will give her hell for coming home so late and drunk, she’s quite proud of herself for being so stealthy.

Just then, the cuckoo clock in the hallway goes off, cuckooing 3 times signalling the late hour. Realizing he might wake up, she decides to cuckoo another 9 times. She smiles to herself, proud that she’d come up with such a clever solution on the spot. He’d never know the difference!

That next morning during breakfast the husband looked at his wife, who was obviously hungover, and asked, “So… what time did you get in last night?”
“Oh, right around midnight, just like I said,” she replied. The husband didn’t seem disturbed at all. Her plan had worked!
“Well,” he said, “I think we need a new cuckoo clock.”
“Why do you say that?” she asked.
“Because last night the one we have cuckooed 3 times, then said ‘oh sh**,’ cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another 3 times, giggled, then tripped over the coffee table and farted.”

Have a great weekend!

Wow.. they really let Oscar Pistorius post bail. Next stop, foreign country from which he can't be extradited

There were a couple nasty hits around the NHL last night, and one of them couldn't have happened to a more deserving fellow, Cal Clutterbuck (2nd favorite NHL name behind Guillaume Latendresse)

I will be making my Oscar picks most likely tonight, and finally posting a review or two

End of Watch was super, and I'm looking forward to Seven Psychopaths tonight

#7 | 92 days ago

I really need to see End of Watch.........I've heard nothing but great reviews.
Kings play tomorrow. I'm staying positive (despite their opponent being the Avs, who they've not been able to beat the last 5 meetings, AND it's an early afternoon game (where they have a history of poor play). I'm staying POSITIVE. Go KINGS!!!laugh

Tweets about Erik Karlsson's news conference are entertaining me. He doesn't think Cooke did it on purpose but believes those who think he did do it on purpose. I'm confused, but imagining him talking with his accent has me going back for more.

Not a fan of Clutterbuck, but Hall knows better.....right?

Q'rs

It's Friday, which means a whole lot of sports going on this weekend. So, I was trying to be clever (enlightened) and realized that was a lost cause. So, GO Teams! (it's a good standby) The world is indeed a crazy place when the arresting officer is wanted in connection for  attempted murder, of like 7 persons (shaking my head)Where is that crazy arse prickly dude? He could make some sense of this disturbing news...I have a lot on my mind, but no voice, so here's my song: DEEP PURPLE/HUSH

I got a certain little girl she's on my mind
No doubt about it she looks so fine
She's the best girl that I ever had
Sometimes she's gonna make me feel so bad

Nah, nah-nah-nah, nah-nah-nah, nah-nah-nah

Hush, hush
I thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
She broke my heart but I love her just the same now
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
I need her loving and I'm not to blame now

(Love, love)
They got it early in the morning
(Love, love)
They got it late in the evening
(Love, love)
Well, I want that, need it
(Love, love)
Oh, I gotta gotta have it

She's got loving like quicksand
Only took one touch of her hand
To blow my mind and I'm in so deep
That I can't eat and I can't sleep

Nah, nah-nah-nah, nah-nah-nah, nah-nah-nah

(Listen)
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
She broke my heart but I love her just the same now
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
I need her loving and I'm not to blame now

(Love, love)
They got it early in the morning
(Love, love)
They got it late in the evening
(Love, love)
Well, I want that, need it
(Love, love)
Hey, I gotta gotta have it

Nahhh, nah-nah-nahhh, nah-nah-nahhh, nah-nah-nahhh....

Maybe, according to the match.com's algorithms, a homicidal maniac was a perfect match for her.   She should probably make a personal change to avoid such match-ups in the future.   (Of course, if she wins the $10 million, that could be enough of a change to cause the algorithms to select homicidal gold-diggers instead.)

Some common misconceptions in life.

1) Just because you wear shorts and sandals year round even in the snow doesn't mean your tougher!
2) If your over 30 and still bragging about being able to out drink people half your age, this doesn't make you great.
3)  I may outweigh you, but that doesn't mean I am Obese or out of shape.
4) Just because your skinnier than I am, doesn't mean your Healthier.
5)  Sometimes Freedom of Speech is more deadly than the Right to Carry a Gun!
6)  If your fortunate to have a car, that doesn't make you better than those of us who choose to walk, ride the bus or use a bicycle.

1 - I stand corrected. Washingtonians don't go without umbrellas because they've acclimated to the rain and are toughing it out. They don't use them because it's no use. The rain doesn't come from above here. It comes from all sides, and even swings upward with the right wind gust. They've just simply given up.

2 - My daughter has viral conjunctivitis. In both eyes. Fabulous.

3 - I don't think I got any sleep last night. And I think I have a ghost.

1.  Rains the same way on Haida Gwaii, with the added plus of the ocean which has been known to blow salt water mist miles inland.  Yep, miles.

2.  I hate that.  Dakota had that in both eyes when he was about 4.  Couldn't get him to leave them alone, so the docs finally gave me some "happy juice" that made him sleepy for about 24 hours so the medicine could work.  It still makes me shudder.

3.  I slept last night rather well, all things considered, but don't feel so hot today.

Good afternoon, I have a bloody mary hangover.  Which  means I can't drink one to get rid of my hangover. frown

We played mad gab yesterday, pretty fun game, first time I played it, as the game went on and the more we drank the more those words were really messed up.  At one point I actually said it right and my team still said, say it again  indecision.

anyhoo, Kevin is making me laugh, I have the night off and both girls work, and I think I will Buffy and Angel out.

You know what's awesome: When the connections at work completely stop working, thus eliminating email and Internet access, and screwing up the database in the audit software, meaning you can't work and previous work might have been eaten! So, on a day I needed to get stuff done, I got basically nothing done.

The TV writers had dissed last night's Community so much that I actually didn't hate it. I'm guessing I'm adjusted my expectations for Zombie Community.

As for Parks and Rec, let's put it this way. As you all know, I'm pretty cynical, so Parks' positivity and borderline saccharine qualities should bother me, but it doesn't. It's my half hour a week where I let all that go and just enjoy.

One week until sequestration. Tick tock, tick tock...

Uhm that's a good question actually. I know of one specifically that has been there since my early teens and I see him occasionally. I don't think this is him though, unless he's trying to get my attention for some reason. Just feels different, and not his normal behavior. Last night we experienced slamming doors, what sounded like knocking in the walls, and lights turning on. I do a smudge & seal every time we move into a house and then as needed. And I even tried to look at what was going on last night and this morning logically - maybe the wind, a vent is open somewhere, maybe we tripped a breaker or the power went off etc. In the end, there are no explanations that work. I ain't skrred...but I'm ticked, because I'm tired.

So I made homemade tortillas tonight. I know this is a simple thing to make, and I've done them before, but I found another recipe tonight because I've never been 100% satisfied with mine.

They were SO good, they tasted like the ones they make at those little tortilla stands in Old Town, San Diego. I want to make another batch, and I'm friggin stuffed right now. We just had the best tacos I think I've ever had.

I know.  I'm not THAT paranoid.  I own a gun b/c I live alone and I'm probably not going to be able to knock someone out with my Louisville Slugger (that has my name engraved in it anyway, so I'm not ruining a random keepsake on some random motherf**ker who breaks into my home.  My neighborhood is fairly safe, but I've found that even the best neighborhoods are not immune from random breakins.  Someone tried my doorknob a little over a year ago, and thought better of it when he peeped in my window and found my piece pointed in his general direction.

My bro-in-law is an ex-cop and he's paranoid enough for all of us.

What exactly would the consequences be for hate speech/websites? A fine? Because there isn't enough room/funding/tax money to start locking people up for being run of the mill a**holes. So, technically they can say whatever they want with no consequences. I don't really know how to respond to the "feel scared" part. If I feel scared to the point where my gun is aiming at you, like Christi, you deserve it, and are more than likely getting shot. And, I'm not a scary person, I am a non trusting one, and I've only pulled my gun out for anything other than target practice or cleaning twice in my entire life.

I simply have an issue with the way people feel like they can say whatever they want these days without the fear of consequences and use the Freedom of Speech to defend it .  This was not written to give people the ability to spew hatred anymore than the right to bear arms was written to give people the right to shoot someone simply because they "feel scared."
Just because there are no consequences from the government for speech (and there never should be unless it's a threat or something like shouting FIRE in a crowded place) does not mean there are no consequences in ones private life. I have no idea why what you're complaining about has to do with guns.

Also, there are people out there who interpret the Second Amendment as exactly that. Stand Your Ground laws can be interpreted that way.
