Yawn.  This puppy will be the death of me.  I just want to sleeeeeeeeeep.

Good news:  Nationwide Race today and I don't have to work and my daughter doesn't have to work until 2 hours after the race.  Bad news.  She works an hour earlier tomorrow, meaning I miss the end of the Daytona 500.

I think it could be the only show left on television and I would not complain much.

HAt! Just realized my daughter starts her new job tonight and it is a UFC night.  Yeah, good luck with that sweetheart! Don't think I'll fill her in, I'll leave that to her boss.

Hi gang... just getting to make some Oscar picks while I watch a little hockey and get ready for my game this afternoon

I don't get the fascination with Ronda Rousey.  If I want to see women fight, I will go to worldstarhiphop.com.  But some of my friends keep chirping about how hot she is.  Maybe I'm crazy, but the last traits I'm looking for in a woman are a defined six pack, bulging biceps, and a c*ck

I caught up with Parks and Rec this morning, by far the funniest show on network television by a wide margin, and only remotely rivaled by Community, Happy Endings and 60 minutes

Have good weekends

Going out for sushi with the cousins tonight.  We'll have to play rock paper scissors over which parent we'll have to call to bail us out with our one phone call.  Jesus help us.

Mychal Rivera and Dion Sims are hotness.

..maybe all the TE's so far are.

I think Kevin and Joe probably explained this to me a few years ago, and probably some boyfriends over the years, but tell me again: what's a restricted free agent? I'm pretty sure unrestricted means just that.

Restricted free agents are allowed no negotiate with other clubs besides their old club, but the old club has the right to match any offer. If they choose not to, they are compensated with draft picks.

Unrestricted free agents are free to sign with any club and no compensation is owed if they sign with a different club.

So basically a team can control some what who a RFA goes to, and if a team they don't want them on signs them, then the old team get compensation for them. Also basically it means that a play can't negotiate what he wants, teams make offers and the player decides if it is enough. He can not ask for more than they are offering, and his current club has the opportunity to match the offer.

Okay. I get it. Thanks.

I'm back... so how do you end up restricted? Are those players technically still under contract, and can just be traded by their team too?

/i know these are stupid questions but i've never been much for off field stuff. bear with me.

Players become restricted free agents when they complete three accrued seasons and their contract expires.

So he is no longer has any years left with that club, but the club may want to keep him and not have to compete too much to keep the player. This tends to happen with backups and later round draft picks the most often. Yes a team could trade a RFA, here is an example of a trade involving one.

The Miami Dolphins offered wide receiver Wes Welker a second-round tender in 2007. Although it was widely rumored that the New England Patriots would offer Welker a seven-year, $35 million deal, the Patriots ultimately traded their second- and seventh-round draft picks to the Dolphins for Welker, signing Welker to a five-year, $18 million contract.

I have a question, why do football fans have to wait 5 months for football to crank back up after every season?

I have two answers for that:

1.) The players are so beat up from the season that they need a long break to recover.

2.) The NFL is continuing its strategy of making its product scarce so people want it more, similar to how they play only once a week. It's a way of artificially inflating demand.

I'm thinking the 2nd reason is bigger than the 1st, since I don't think the NFL cares all that much about player safety except for avoiding lawsuits (and that most of its fans don't care either because they don't see players as people). I, for one, need the break myself. Those that don't just need to shut up for a while and stop insinuating that people who like other sports are gay. The NFL consumes enough oxygen that there's always something that gets attention, as the ratings for the Combine will likely show.

torture.

gearhead read way too much into that.

On the one hand, I actually enjoy the break too. To be honest, with hockey being in full swing and baseball starting up, then March Madness getting ready to go bananas, my head might explode if we still had the NFL to think too much about. On the other hand, I miss my Seahawks. crying (Though, twitter has been fantastic for that.)

Does all that mean it is OK if I miss football like a mofo?
