Welcome back. This is the part of the locker room where you can sit and chat and chill for a while without offending or being shushed. Maybe you wanna watch a dvd or listen to your mp3. Yes, I rhymed. Something on your mind, post it! Random question, ask it? Hijacking is allowed and encouraged. Join the party, troll around, have a beer. It's cool. All are welcome, but please leave all BS in the hall.

I listened to a 2Chainz! song a lot this morning. It's put me in a mood... I'm way too tired. I miss my bed. Enjoy your first of March.

Aloha peoples and happy Friday
Playoff hockey started off on a positive note last night as we got a 7-3 win. Now comes a true test next week as we play the number one seed.  The good news is we were the only team that beat them this year, the bad news is, they didn't have all of their horses that night. We shall see

The Avalanche matched the offer sheet given to holdout Ryan O'Reilily by the Flames yesterday.  I really don't understand the thinking of that front office most of the time

I'm tired, would like to find a nice place to curl up and fall asleep until tomorrow

Happy Friday!!!

The streak continues!!

HAWKS 3
STL 0

That's 20 games to start a season and 26 straight, stemming back to last year. The record for most games in a row with at least 1 point is 35 in a row set by Philly in '79.

We have Columbus at home tonight and then Sunday, we travel to DEEE-TWA to play a Noon game.  That will be 3 games in 3.5 days!  I think the streak ends on Sunday?

So my friend has been using this babysitter for the last 4 years.  Super sweet quiet girl.

Well another family asked if she could use her for a night and she’s like sure!  So she gives her the babysitters number and she called her and set up for her to baby-sit..

So the girl baby-sits and everything went good and the next day she was in class and her phone rings it was the mom from the night before..

Well she was in class and ignored it and noticed she had a text from her too… it was “what!?!”  the text above hers was probably the most unfortunate mix of pocket dial auto correct fail in the history of ever…

It was “zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz fearfully”

She wants to die.

Morning.

It's Snow Day and Night at school today. It's 80 degrees. lol

They have been selling "snow" gloves at our Book Fair all week. It's become a fad. I swear I had 15 of my 30 kids wearing them in class yesterday. It was 75. degrees.wink

I volunteered to be a "guest" reader for Snow Night. Clearly I wasn't thinking straight.

I changed my landline services to get rid of voice messages because all we ever got was "you won this" "you can save this" etc. etc.

soooo f***ing annoying.  So looking at my call display for the past week, I have a call from me home, a call from work calling me in, a call from my son, and 8 calls from "Toll Free Service" and "Unknown Caller"  I called the Toll Free Service and told them we have registered for the "Do Not Call" registry and their call is unsolicited and unwanted.  It was a bank regarding an account that is rarely used.  I said, if we want to change anything, we will call you, please do NOT call again.  you have already been told this numerous times"  They hung up on me.   Thing is, the account is only kept in case the other bank happens to go down - that happened a month ago when a power failure fried my bank's computers and it was 3 days until it was fixed.  The other account came in handy.

Might have to close that one however, and open one at another bank.  *sigh*

I think my new course of action will be to answer on the first or second ring and immediately hang up as soon as someone comes on the line.  They might call back a few times, thinking they were disconnected, but if I keep hanging up on them, maybe they will get the message?

I keep my landline active (it's about $3.00/mo. with Comcast Triple Play) but I unplugged every phone in my house. I just went online to check the 130+ voicemails and NOT ONE of the dozens I checked was anything but a telemarketer or survey. I cleared the voicemails out, so they can now leave messages again that I'll never listen to.

Q'rs!
It's Friday (yeah) Jess made my heart all mushy yesterday (she's awesome)
I give you The Whispers-Rock Steady
I Looked At You
You Stole My Heart
You Were All That I Anticipated
I Wanted You -- Every Part But I Knew That Love Would Be Complicated
I Began to Touch -- But You wouldn't Let It
It Never Seemed to Be the Right Time
I Started to Give Up -- Down to the Limit
And Then You Changed Your Mind
And We Begin to Rock Steady
Steady Rockin All Night Long
And We Begin to Rock Steady
Rockin Till the Break of Dawn
You Looked At Me to My Surprise
You Were Through Anticipating
I Should Have Known -- It Was in Your Eyes
That You Were Gettin Tired of Waiting
You Wanted Me So Much -- But I Didn't Get It
How Could a Girl Be So Blind?
I Started to Give Up -- But Love Wouldn't Let It
Then You Walked Into My Life
You Wanted Me So Much -- But I Didn't Get It
How Could a Girl Be So Blind?
Started to Give Up -- But Love Wouldn't Let It
And You Walked Into My Life
And We Begin to Rock Steady
Steady Rockin All Night Long
And We Begin to Rock Steady
Rockin Till the Break of Dawn

Laurel,  I am very sorry for the loss of your friend!

I agree with not taking ones life in their own home, especially when others live there.....hell, don't take your life...PERIOD!  I guess if one is in a state of mind to do that to themselves and their family/friends, then they aren't thinking clearly to being with?

So sorry!  (hugs)

After the 8th or 9th person came by me complaining about the same lady at the bus stop this morning, I finally realized who they were talking about.  This woman, (every town has one of these people I am sure) hangs out at the main downtown transfer stop everyday and basically performs her unofficial job as bus cop, person who tells you everything that your doing wrong and basically is a pain in the butt to all who come near her.  Having seen her roughly 5 days a week off and on for 15 years, I simply give people free advice.  The best thing to do is ignore her.  She has been miserable since the day she came to town, which also was the day after Jesus was born.

On a side note R.I.P Bonnie Franklin.  You were the tv mom to my first crush Valerie Bertinelli.

Can some one please explain how some parts of the NHL's CBA make any sense!?!?!?!

"... had the Avs not matched the two-year, $10 million deal produced by the Flames, that O’Reilly would have immediately gone on the waiver wire and almost certainly would have been lost to the Flames.

It’s entirely possible, then, that the Flames could have surrendered a first-round and a third-round pick in this summer’s talent-laden draft for a player who might never have played for them at all because of an oversight on the part of the team and the player’s agent."

Seriously what-in-the-ripe-eff is going on in that league behind closed doors!?! [full story here]

I read that as "color reds". I'm an idiot.

I was asking Jen though what I did that made her all mushy.

I've been fighting with my computer all morning. I really need something with a faster processor. I understand my internet is ass, but it doesn't help when the computer itself wants to keep locking up too because there's too much going on. Bleh.

That makes no sense to me either!

If O'Reilly is a Restricted FA, and is offered a contract by another team. His current team has the right to match the offer and sign him or not match the offer and get a 1st and 3rd round from CLG and CLG should have the rights to O'Reilly.  Right??

So, why would he still go through the waiver wire if COL didn't match the offer and took the 1st and 3rd rounders from CLG??  I, like you, am dumb-founded on that one!  The way I see it, he's either a member of COL or a member of the team that offered him the tendered offer (CLG) that was declined by his original team (COL).

This is efffffffed up!   Some one needs to do some splainin!

Sequester hoooooooooooooooo! I swear I've never been more angry and frustrated at this town, the politicians, and the media. That is saying something. This Bob Woodward thing might be the stupidest Beltway media creation I've ever seen. Meanwhile, austerity goes on and on...

I really wish I were at the Sloan Conference now. Just remember that no matter what you think of analytics, and no matter if you pay attention to them at all or not, they are here to stay, and just about every major pro team uses them in the some form.

As an aside, where did that BS line that advanced stats take the enjoyment out of sports? Does anyone other than cranky columnists trying to troll actually believe that?

All I know of One Day at a Time is the theme song, but RIP Bonnie Franklin. Pancreatic cancer is a straight up bitch.

Holy crap, I have a reason to watch the CW. They're bringing back Whose Line Is It Anyway. Aisha Tyler replaces Drew Carey, which could very well be a plus. It's got Ryan, Colin, and Wayne doing their thing (and hopefully Greg and Brad too), so it's all good.

We'll continue to do NHL threads on nights when there are 5 or more games, but this All-Sports blog is a way to be more inclusive for the other sports goin on.
