oh hello there.  It feels weird writing something before 3pm

Things are still crazy here.

I'm a little beat up and sore from a long weekend.  We had our first hockey tournament of the season, which we won, hung out in the sun all day between games saturday and got a wonderful sunburn.  then I had baseball on Sunday afternoon, right after hockey which was a GD sh*t show.  We need to recruit some pitching

Other than that, I don't have much, so here's my 14 month old nephew being ornery as sh*t

First? YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Happy Monday Q'ers! (I know....Happy and Monday is an oxymoron).  Hope everyone had a good weekend.  I spent Saturday trying to hook a combo light and fan for my in-laws bathroom.  Trying to put a 2013 fixture in a 1990 home can sometimes be challenging.  I spent the better part of Saturday there, neglecting my own yardwork.  After finishing, my father in law said to me "Maybe tomorrow we'll clean out your garage"...I told him No, I have a lot of yard work to do.  Guess who showed up yesterday?  Yep....F.I.L.  He cleaned the garage by himself.....now I just have to go put everything back where I want it, not him.  He means well...

Rangers are peaking for the playoffs, though the Capitals always worry me.  Hopefully, the Rangers will SHOOT...THE...PUCK!  Yankees swept 4 from the Blue Jays, and on paper, the BJs look far superior....I guess that's why they play the games.

Here's today's pic....

Hey!

So, I volunteered, though my job, to do a Junior Achievement program that happened last Friday.

I taught 7th & 8th graders Economic Basics and How to be an Entrepreneur. 6 Total sessions taught.  What I learned? I've always had the utmost respect for Teachers (as an adult) and I have many friends that teach, but, now I have to utmost respect for Substitute teachers!  Although my home room teacher was there the entire day, he didn't do much to keep his students in in line and have them show any respect.  I kind of felt like a Sub, and had to ask for them to show their other classmates respect when they were giving their presentation......Sad really!   Overall, I loved the experience and was able to brush up on some Economic practices as well as learn a little on the Entrepreneurial side of things.

During one of the sessions, I was explaining about Insurance and had asked if someone could give me the definition of what RISK was......1 kid raised his hand and said "A Board Game".......... smh (ugh) frown

NHL PLAYOFFS start tomorrow!  Chicago vs Minnesota.  The eery thing about this match up is that the last time the Hawks won the Presidents Trophy (91-92), they were bounced by the Minnesota North Stars.....even though it's not the same franchise, it's still Minnesota, which have given us a run for our money this year.....very tight games.

The Bulls are 1 win away from advancing to the 2nd round, not that they really have a chance of beating Miami if or when it gets to that point, but, hey!  Saturday's Triple OT win was awesome to watch! We were down by 14 with 3 mins left in the 4th QTR.  GO BULLS!

The NFL Draft = zzzzzzzzzzz  (not excited about any of the guys Chicago drafted but as always, only time will tell)

This movie was on last night........Love this movie!

The mountain is high, the valley is low
And you're confused 'bout which way to go
So I flew here to give you a hand
And lead you into the promised land

So, come on and take a free ride (free ride)
Come on and take it by my side
Come on and take a free ride

All over the country, I'm seeing the same
Nobody's winning, at this kind of game
We gotta do better, it's time to begin
You know all the answers
Must come from within

So, come on and take a free ride (free ride)
Come on and take it by my side
Come on and take a free ride
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Free ride
Come on and take a free ride
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Come on and take a free ride
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Come on and take a free ride
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Come on and take a free ride
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

being spoiled rotten growing up (not really, but by some standards....yeah), i've gotten all the way to adulthood only really getting work done when i'm pouty or mad (cause i have to do it. wah.) and i have so much mad going on this morning i already have my stuff done for thursday.

i brought that bad feelers on myself though. i did bad stuff and hurt someone important to me and i'm too proud to apologize, because i still don't think it was that bad. but also cause houston sports give me gas (i can still see that ridiculous prayer-3-pointer bouncing ten feet straight up off the rim and twice more off the rim before it duranted into a fatal, whispery "shwsh"). so there's that too and i am blowin it up in here today!

I hope Tim Tebow saved his money.

Gearing up for Sunfest this week.  Smashing Pumpkins Wednesday night.  Yippee!
5 nights/days  of music and festivities.

Not much happened this weekend.
The grands were playing with their Legos with me and made this.
They call it "Gramma before coffee!"

So the convential wisdom is that Tim Teblow is headed to the CFL. Isn't the CFL a league where the majority of teams pass first? Why would even a CFL team want a QB that is less accurate than Helen Keller playing horse shoes?

Paraphrasing Bob Ley, "The overlooked part of the Collins story is that it muted the Jets 3rd string QB being released as the news cycle lead." Cheers Bob. Sad part is they've already taken down the comment section of the cover story on SI.com Geezus, we're idiots as a whole. Jokes about the moron fringe forcing Brittney Griner to release a statement saying she's going back in the closet aren't really that funny anymore. I'd say I hate people, but that would just make me one of them.

FML I just went down a memory lane that should be destroyed.  There is only one person who can convince me to destroy it.
Spring was here over the weekend and I worked.  I hope summer falls on a weekend this year too, maybe I’ll get it off.
I’m on my 15th day in a row working and my 37th day sober 12 mores days working till I get a day off, who knows how long my sobriety will last.
I “cooked” last night, you all would be proud of me.
I would kill a man for some blue cheese anything right now, I have been severely addicted to this all month.
Dress pants + Monday = mmmmhmmm

Feet don't fail me now
Take me to the finish line
All my heart, it breaks every step that I take
But I'm hoping that the gates,
They'll tell me that you're mine
Walking through the city streets
Is it by mistake or design?
I feel so alone on a Friday night
Can you make it feel like home, if I tell you you're mine
It's like I told you honey

Don't make me sad, don't make me cry
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough
I don't know why
Keep making me laugh,
Let's go get high
The road is long, we carry on
Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane
Choose your last words
This is the last time
Cause you and I, we were born to die

Lost but now I am found
I can see but once I was blind
I was so confused as a little child
Tried to take what I could get
Scared that I couldn't find
All the answers, honey

Don't make me sad, don't make me cry
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough
I don't know why
Keep making me laugh,
Let's go get high
The road is long, we carry on
Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane
Choose your last words,
This is the last time
Cause you and I
We were born to die
We were born to die
We were born to die

Come and take a walk on the wild side

I wish we all could live in a world where sexuality is no one else's business.  I'm sure skeletons would come falling out of everyone's closet if the outside world was allowed to go peeking.

I got a little sad this morning when I thought about not getting to see Shea Weber grow a playoff beard with a life all it's own, as this drawing so brilliantly illustrates:

The man can grow a beard, and I love him for it.  He sure has a purdy mouf for a hockey player. (Okay, that just took a creepy turn).

I got Deborah Cox on the ipod.  She turns me into a drag queen.  And with that image, I will leave you.

Are you really surprised? Humans are terrible and terrible to each other pretty much all the time. The good news is we're getting better, but obviously have a ways to go. Hell, just in this thread we've got juvenile gay stereotyping (long hair = gay) and inferring gay as an insult. Way to evolve, bros.

Eventually, we'll get to that point where sexual orientation doesn't matter, but just saying you want that to be the case doesn't doing anything. It's skipping steps. Someone had to be first in the major sports. Someone had to take that scrutiny and attention and debate in order for it to start to get easier. Maybe Collins did it for the attention, I don't know, and really, who cares? No one does anything for pure altruistic motives anyway. Now it will get easier for others to come out, and easier and easier, until it doesn't matter anymore. It will happen eventually, but not yet. It needed that first step, and good on Collins for taking that step.

Also, as you and Ley said, it blows away the Tebow story, so wins all around.

In other news...

I was tired all day Saturday, tired enough that I basically a punted an absolutely beautiful day. Naturally, after eating and having a few drinks, I came home around 11 and was wide awake. Still not happy about it.

On Sunday, however, I got in a 5 mile "run." It's in quotes because run is still a misnomer. It's more like a run/jog/walk/looking ridiculous amalgam. Legs are quite sore today.

RIP Blackout Gatling

The entire soundtrack to Rocky Horror Picture Show turns me into a drag queen. I have it on my ipod and sometimes, on road trips to GP (next city east) I crank it and sing.  Some of the moves I can bust in my truck seat would blow anyone's mind.
