Oh boy are the Rockies in an offensive funk

2nd round of the NHL playoffs starts tonight. Go Kings

I somehow missed that the movie Upstream Color was coming to Netflix now I'm in a very long wait for it. For those not familiar, it is the follow up film of Writer/Director Shane Carruth. His first flick, Primer (which is streaming on Netflix), is one of the best sci-fi movies I've seen in ages, and maybe the best low budget movie ever.

I saw Iron Man 3 this past weekend. I enjoyed it like I do most popcorn movies, but was underwhelmed
I will be seeing the new Star Trek

I want to do a movie themed mailbag type of write up, but I don't have any followers.. I'm gonna have to get creative

Haaaaaiiiiiiiiii!!!!!

Went to the casino last night.  Was up $110 at one point, but kept playing.  Left with what I went in with, so no win, no loss and a lot of fun.

Boston Pizza sorta re-opened last night and my daughter worked, helping clean up the last little bit. She's exhausted today as she vacuumed the entire restaurant after the renos.  It took her almost two hours to get it all cleaned up.  I asked her how many times she had to empty the vacuum and she said she lost count.  Wish she would vacuum like that at home.  cheeky

Cleaned my truck inside and out yesterday and it looks brand new again!

Have a super duper Tuesday y'all!!

Leafs bad beat though... and yet (re: twitter) I regret nothing. For the most part I didn't hit them when they were down, but there may have been some seriously ugly shots before they eventually hit the ground. And while I'm on it, fyi CNBC/NBCsports etc. - the entire country DOES NOT root for Toronto teams. Toronto is the equivalent of Canada's New York. If the Yankees flamed out in a game 7 like that, would every other city's fans be distraught or even cheering for them in the first place? Exactly.

I lost my phone this morning. Like...seriously gone. It's in my bedroom somewhere. I stripped the bed, moved it, looked under and behind it, looked in my master bath, checked by the dog beds...something ate my phone. I hadn't left the bedroom yet before I lost it, and the alarm on it woke me up so I know it's in there. Or was before something ate it.

I finished reading The Art of Racing in the Rain last night and cried like a friggin baby. I never cry...it touched me. It doesn't help that I have a 10yo dog I've had since she was a pup and she follows me everywhere and I love her like a child. It ripped out my heart strings, but it was an excellent book. On to World War Z and Inferno.

Agreed on Primer (amazing) and Upstream Color looks weird / fantastic. I love that Shane has become the 'go to' guy in Hollywood as a consultant for any time travel plots. I want him to do a re-cut of the Back to the Future & Terminator franchises next.

Q'rs
It is really quite gorgeous here today.
I slept wrong and can now only turn left.
I'm on the fence with Bates Motel after last night.
Anyone else watch "The Killer Speaks" or "Totally Biased"? I am a fan.....
Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy just popped into my head: “I hope some animal never bores a hole in my head and lays its eggs in my brain, because later you might think you're having a good idea but it's just eggs hatching.”

I'm a bit obsessed.

also from The Virginmarys - Portrait of Red.  pretty sure he sang this to me.. after reading lyrics pretty sure we're married now.

Baby is bored of life,
She sleeps from 9-5,
Wakes up in time,
To beat the hell out of me tonight,
Do me some harm
Come on and do me some harm.

Scratch out your life,
Paint me a portrait of red,
Beat out the truth,
When I am lying in bed,
Come on and do me some harm,
Do me some harm.

I'm watching my girl taking out her aggression,
A pain from her hell, feels like a pain from my heaven,
Hands round my throat, my baby teaches a lesson,
I see all sorts of colours.

Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a, like a...

Force my head down,
Make me taste the disgrace,
Don't bottle it up,
Don't put your anger to waste,
Come on and do me some harm,
Do me some harm.

I'm watching my girl taking out her aggression,
A pain from her hell, feels like a pain from my heaven,
Hands round my throat, my baby teaches a lesson,
I see all sorts of colours.

Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a, like a...
You gotta, you gotta, you gotta

Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body like a canvas
Baby, treat my body...
You gotta, you gotta, you gotta

ESPN built some kind of 192,000 sq/ft, virtual reality, Tebow Holodeck. Here are the overall staggering numbers.

"More than 1000 public facing commentators, analysts, hosts and writers." <---- What the fuuuuu?!?!?!?!?!

Question. what is keeping 39,000 people who have ESPN from having ESPN 2?
Question, when did they bring SportsCenter back?

From what QMZ gathered from a little upfront digging and some bills being proposed:

1. The short answer, the cable companies. The long answer ESPN strong arming them to get around the "a la cart" services by "packaging" a bunch of other crap nobody wants to pay for. Sen. John McCain, for one, is NOT down with this.

2. Reanimated zombie SportsCenter, although technically dead, will now have WAY more Industrial Light and Magic (also a Disney property via the Lucas Film purchase) and WAY more senseless arguing. The IMAX-Tebow experience.

(Edited by Jess)
So I discovered a recipe for chocolate chip cookies somewhere - I honestly don't remember where it was. Could have been Pinterest, could have been All Recipes, could have been Food Network's site - who knows. I shop recipes like many women shop clothes and shoes (maybe that's my problem.) Anyway, I tweaked it a bit because I like to make a recipe my own once I stumble upon it because if I don't, I just don't feel like I have the right to call it "mine" - I'm toeing that line anyway. But I digress....this recipe...sweet lord. I've taken to calling them my "Show Off Cookies" because it sounds kinda naughty and because I want to feed them to everyone so they can rave about what a wonderful baker I am. They stay soft, the chocolate stays gooey. They're amazing. Here's the problem with these cookies: My husband and daughter won't quit asking for them. And my ass is growing. And I have no will power when it comes to those cookies when they're sitting in the cookie jar in my kitchen or in a Gladware container on my counter waiting to be taken to the station. It's ridiculous.

I had to rant because though it's only been about a week since I made them...I want to make them right now! GAH!

It's official. Furloughs at DoD start July 8th. Of course, work has sucked so much lately and been so draining I'd welcome the time off, money be damned.

Caps blew it again. The numbers are just staggering. 2-7 all time in Game 7's at home. 4-6 all time when up 2-0 in a series. How does that happen? I get that this group are frauds, but for the entire history of the franchise? Making it worse is that I again had a meltdown on Twitter about it and embarrassed myself. This is why I fail at life.

In a related story, done with hockey for the year. Other than Ottawa and Los Angeles, I either a.) hate all the teams left, b.) hate their fanbase, or c.) dislike a specific fan of that team. In most of the cases, it's all three.

I have friends? I sure do a good job alienating them one by one.

Right she didn't even describe anything that would make them so awesome, Sure she said they were soft and gooey, but I can accomplish the same thing by following the heating instructions on a package of Soft Batch Cookies. There has to be something else to make them so awesome. Maybe some Bourbon, THC butter, uses brownies instead of chocolate chips, M&M's, the possibilities are endless.

"Secret" - three different kinds of chocolate chips (I like to use mini-Hershey's Kisses, Ghirardelli milk chocolate, and either Toll House or Hershey's semi-sweet...but if you're a fan of white chocolate that might be good too...or M&M's, Reese's Pieces, whatever)...and corn starch.

I just listened to World Cafe and had a flashback b/c they did an Everly Brothers segment.  My Uncle performed quite a bit with the Everly Brothers, and hearing some of their rarer music was quite lovely.

It's en fuego outside.  I'm not ready for caliente, unless Salma Hayek or Katherine Zeta Jones are involved.

Finally.......the Classroom Challenge pic is up. Obviously, my class is best..............and not because they are mine (well maybe because of this, but because the one class that is leading is a copy cat (she copied my idea from last year...lol She's my friend.....but come on. ), and two......mine is obviously the most fierce which totally goes with the Kings and the playoffs this season.

So enough of my typed words......please vote for my class

And now.....

Hail Kopi, full of talent,
Your fans are with thee.
Blessed are thou amongst Slovenians,
and blessed is the fruit of thy Slovenienness,
Dominance.
Holy Kopi, first of our centers,
Play for us screamers,
Now, and take us nearer to the hour of our Second Cup.
Amen.

And for the team, we pray.

Our Kings, these reigning Stanley Cup Champions Kings, who art in the second round of the mother f**king playoffs,
Hallowed be thy game tonight.
Thy Kingdom come if thy wills will be done,
On our ice, because we f**king earned it.
Give us this day our goals, however many are needed,
So that we may forgive ourselves for any flaws in our game.
And in the meantime give these dicks from San Jose a sound slapping.
That we may be led past the second round,
Past these ugly a$$ Sharks,
Amen.

The Metro stop closest to where I live is on fire. That'll make tomorrow's commute interesting.

I get to sleep in a little tomorrow.  Even better than that, though, is that I will be volunteering tomorrow with an artist named Lilly Yeh.  One of her better known projects is the Rwanda Healing Project.  She is in Louisville to commemorate the 1968 race riots in the Parkland neighborhood.  This area still contains the greatest concentration of violent crime, with a shootout caught on camera (camera crews were on the scene reporting a double murder).  I am really hoping that out of this project comes healing.  The children in this area really want to be able to take pride in their neighborhood and be able to live safely.

I guess the trailer is moving to the golf course sometime this week.  The boss stopped by work to pick up his order and asked if we were going to be around the golf course this weekend - May Long -- and I said if he needed us to be we could be.......

Not sure when it will make its way out there, cuz I need enough time to load it up with necessities, fill it with water, get propane, hook it up and move it, which will take maybe 4 hours alltogether and I work until Sunday.  Might have to do it Saturday night.

Oh well, summer, or at least hot spring, is here.
