I take a zinc supplement daily when I start to feel ill. It either works or is a great placebo for me.

I haven't had a cold or flu in about 10 years. I attribute it to the fact that I don't take medicine. I let my immune system fight it off. I do increase my intake of vitamin c when I start to feel sick. But I believe that using medication weakens you immune system and makes you more likely to get sick.

Take things that boost your immune system.

1) Exercise

2) Antioxidents - vitamin C & E and Beta-carotene like eating some berries, citrus fruits, kiwi, apples, red grapes, kale, onions, spinach, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Also, fresh Garlic and mushrooms are very good for your system.

3) Laughing  -  I read where laughing decreases the levels of stress hormones (cortisol) while increasing your white blood cell count.  (shrug)

4) Sleep - not getting enough sleep increases your level of cortisol (stress hormones).  They say 7-9 hours is what adults should be getting per night on average.

I range somewhere in the 6 hour neighborhood, but it's always interrupted sleep.  I can't remember the last time that I slept through the night. frown

Plenty of fluids....and rest....I usually don't get sick (only missed work 2 days due to being sick in last 22 years)...but I do pop Zicam if I feel "stuffy".  Even if I have a cold, I say it's allergies....
I don't get colds.
