Book Club - June 2013 (Edited 06/03/13 12:21PM by Oddfool)
Greetings, one and all.    Come on in.  Plenty of seats right down here in front.  Don't be shy.

You all know how this works.    Peruse the choices below, and cast your vote.    No theme here, just a few random choices.  (Or are they?)

The Jester - James Patterson

Hugh De Luc returns from the Crusades to discover that his terrifying nightmare has just begun. Merciless killers have slain his young son, kidnapped his wife, Sophie, and destroyed his town in their search for a priceless relic from the Crucifixion. Hugh's quest to find Sophie is one of the most pulse-pounding adventures, mysteries, and unforgettable love stories in all of thriller fiction.

Fool - Christopher Moore
A hilarious new take on William Shakespeare’s King Lear…as seen through the eyes of the foolish liege’s clownish jester, Pocket. A rousing tale of “gratuitous shagging, murder, spanking, maiming, treason, and heretofore unexplored heights of vulgarity and profanity,”

Wyrd Sisters - Terry Pratchett
Meet Granny Weatherwax, the most highly regarded non-leader a coven of non-social witches could ever have. Generally, these loners don't get involved in anything, mush less royal intrigue. but then there are those times they can't help it. As Granny Weatherwax is about to discover, though, it's a lot harder to stir up trouble in the castle than some theatrical types would have you think. Even when you've got a few unexpected spells up your sleeve.

The Sleeping Dragon - Joel Rosenberg
The story begins with seven college students and a professor gathering to play a game similar to Dungeons and Dragons. Little do they know that the professor will magically teleport the seven students to the very world the game takes place in, and they will possess the bodies and minds of the characters they played as

I've read through about half of The Jester and it bored me so much I couldn't get through it; which is weird, because I generally love JP.

I do have Fool downloaded, so that got my automatic vote, but I'd read either of the other two as well.

I chose The Jester because I've actually read the other 3.  (A couple quite a while ago.  So, I wouldn't mind reading again.)

And you're spot on about Moore.

Thank You, thank you.

(Though, I think I stacked the deck.   Even Wyrd Sisters has a jester in it.)
