Good morning gang.
Sad to hear about NASCAR driver Jason Leffler who died in a sprint race last night in New Jersey. One of the girls who works for me who I've known for most of my life has ties throughout the sprint and midget racing community and her family was close with him.

In other more trivial notes. I can't believe the Bruins blew that game last night. Ugh. But I was happy I got to catch the last half of the third period and all of OT at the rink.  I have a perfect trick too for hockey OTs when I'm out and about. Last night we ran out of pitchers and I decided if the game was going to keep on going, I needed a beer. I told one of my buddies, "watch this, I can make this game end" I said I'm going to go grab a beer, stood up, and 2.3 seconds later the puck was in the net. For the 2nd Wednesday in a row, my alcoholism brought an NHL game to an end

and here's a little f**kawesomeness for your day.

Hola,

What a game last night….well it was actually almost 2 games, but who’s counting?  I love this Chicago Blackhawks team.  They never give up and after last night (and the Wings series), I truly believe they can overcome anything.  Gotta love Shawsy dropping an apparent f-bomb in the post-game interview.

Nick, how many Zimas did you consume last night?  I’m guessing somewhere in the 15-20 range.

Fell asleep on the train this morning and missed my stop.  Gotta love when that happens…especially when you have an 8am webinar.  Oh well, at least I didn’t reek of booze.

Anyone have any good burger grill recipes?  Looking for new ideas.

TIA

That montage was sooo very f**king cool! yes

Last night's game was probably thee greatest Hockey game that I have ever watched.  Not because of the outcome, the entire game. I hope the rest of the series can live up to last night, just not 6 periods each game!  I am still mentally exhausted from last night!  Goaltending was phenomenal!  Defense was outstanding. The pace of the game was perfect!  Most importantly, the officiating DID NOT play a part in the outcome!
I'm just glad that we have 2 more days to mentally prepare for Game 2!

No alcohol last night.  Ordered some Deep Dish Pizza from Gullivers and had a few Coke's (Coca-Cola).

As for Burgers, it's all in how you make the burger!

I do my burgers with:

Ground Beef
1 egg per 1.5lbs of meat
1 package of Ranch Buttermilk Seasoning Powder
2 garlic cloves crushed/minced
about 8 splashes of A1 Sauce

Sometimes I will chop up some green onions and trow dem in dere as well.

Mix and form into patties!  Grill!

Top 10 two days in a row, this is unheard of!

What an epic game 1 last night.  I actually got home to see the game winner because it lasted so long, way to go Hawks!  Pirates go for the sweep of the Giants tonight, they've scored 20 runs in the first 2 games, good to see they remember how to swing a bat.

I gotta head off for work again, BK over and out

i think the bananas ice cream was well received. when i woke up, 12 bananas' worth was gone! so in case you're interested:

12 bananas
6 tbsp honey or agave nectar
4 tbsp peanut butter
4 tbsp unsweetened cocoa

- cut all the bananas into slices and freeze completely
- when the bananas are frozen, put about half into your blender (about what'll fit) and liquefy.
- then add half of the tasters and liquefy again
- pour into a tupperware and put in the fridge until solid
- repeat
- (as you can see, this recipe is easily halved, but when you're starting with 48 spotty bananas, you wanna move fast)

We are not in the south.  Therefore, you don't need to specify what kind of "Coke" you had.  Bad form.

I had a few adult beverages, but didn't drink enough for even a slight buzz.  Good thing because being tired and hungover today would have sucked more than Jenna Jameson circa 2001.

The burgers sounds good.  Never thought to put the seasoning powder in der.  The GF will dig it fo sho!

yeah, i didn't need one of you throwing in a drug reference,  to me having Coke!  thus the Coca-Cola reference.  wink

Any other BBQ recipes, just ask.... i have a few I could suggest.

I just ordered 13 books from B&N, 11 of which are from their "Leatherbound Classics" collection. They're all $18, and they're having a "Buy One, Get One $10" sale right now so I also saved an extra $40 on the order. I spent less than $200, including shipping and sales tax, and got SO MANY great classic books! I hemmed and hawed about getting a bible, and I very well may end up going back in and ordering it, but I figured having it up with my fiction when my brother gets here might not go over well.
Check it out though:
Jules Verne: Seven Novels
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Other Stories
Ernest Hemmingway: Four Novels
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Divine Comedy
The Iliad and The Odyssey (I have these in paperback but they're worn out)
Charles Dickens: Five Novels
The Arabian Nights
The Count of Monte Cristo
Little House: The First Five Novels (for the kiddo)
The Vampire Chronicles (First 3 novels)

I also got Catcher In the Rye and Of Mice and Men but in paperback; they didn't have those in leatherbound. I'm gonna need to order a new bookcase.

Trever's out picking out his Traeger today. I decided to get him a bow (a beautiful Samick Hunter one-piece recurve...but he doesn't know yet - tryna keep it a secret for once) for Father's Day and he's spending his bonus on the smoker/grill since it's something we all get to enjoy.

Anybody who says the closer spot is overrated obviously doesn't have a closer like Tom Wilhelmsen. Dude's lost us like 4 games in the last inning just over the past couple of weeks. Jerk.

(Edited to add a list of the books I got cuz I'm so friggin excited.)

I'd keep it in the fiction section for him and not respond at all when he starts trying to discuss. Him: "You have the Bible here? It's in the wrong place." Me: "I think I want some coffee."

Oh, I just learned there is a new Starbucks! one exit up from where I get off for work... :)

I should do that.

And YAY! It's always awesome to find new Starbucks stores.

One time when we were in Portland we were looking for a Starbucks and we didn't want to just wander to try and find one. This was before I had a smartphone. We stopped a couple of guys on the sidewalk (I think my friend just wanted to talk to the dudes, to be honest) and asked them if they knew where we could find a Starbucks. One guy told us to "throw a cat" and we were like..."wtf?" (obviously it was before 10:00am; I was completely incoherent.) He seriously told us to throw a cat...and walked away. Fortunately there was one right on the corner of the sidewalk we were walking down.

We got let out of work at 2:30 to get home in time before the storms hit. Given that the skies got dark real quick, and there's a tornado warning just north of me (and not much better here), that was the right decision. If you don't see me for a few days, then this thing wrecked havoc.

Two things Jess:

1.) I don't know why you would get a bible in the first place, but if you do, yes, please put in the fiction section.

2.) Yes, closers are overrated, because relievers in general see large fluctuations in their performance from year to year, or month or month, or outing to outing. If Wilhelmsen keeps struggling, he'll be replaced soon enough. He's also just as likely to end up fine and it's just a blip, like what the Orioles closer had earlier this year.

1) Because I want one..."knowledge is power". Besides, it's a piece of literature, whether I believe in following it or not. And of course it would go in the fiction section. Where else would I put it?
2) I'm still ticked off. "If Wilhelmsen keeps struggling, he'll be replaced soon enough" - I have a one word response: Wedge.

Or Beowulf, or the Iliad and/or Odysseyy, or The Divine Comedy...that's how I feel about it too. It's a piece of literature any way you look at it and just because a large group of people choose to follow it as a life guide doesn't mean that someone who doesn't shouldn't have one if they want. I'd get a Quran too. They're just books, IMM
