I like driving down the road with my windows down! I think because I have been in many institutions (and those of you that have or spent anytime in one or two, know what i am talking about) and hate breathing in filtered air. I can smell the fakeness and I don't like it much. So you there in the wannabe lexus can look down your nose at me and my boys all you want, we don't care. We are having us a good time, brething fresh air and singing our hearts out to whatever comes on, even if we don't know the words.
They like to get you in a compromising position
They like to get you there and smile in your face
They think they're so cute when they got you in that condition
Well I think it's a total disgrace

I fight authority, Authority always wins
I fight authority, Authority always wins
I been doing it since I was a young kid
I come out grinnin'
I fight authority, Authority always wins

So I call up my preacher
I say, "Give me strength for Round 5."
He said , "You don't need no strength, you need to grow up son."
I said, "Growing up leads to growing old and then to dying
"And dying to me don't sound like all that much fun."
Oh no oh no
I fight authority Authority always wins

PEACE

oh hi.
Another day yesterday where we see record volume of business for a day and where it's difficult to take a step away and take a breath. So far today, it's been a little calmer but still trying to play catch up from not getting anything that was on my to-do list yesterday done.

The Rockes are doing their monthly tease where they play well for 5-8 games then take another 10-20 games off. I'm ready for hockey season.

Speaking of hockey season, my summer team plays in the semi's tomorrow night. I'm listing myself as a game time decision. If I was a betting man I'd say I'm probably not ready to go, but I will go and at least take the warmup and see how it goes from there

Who wants a beautiful song for their Tuesday?

Sigur Ros - Ara Batur

Þú reyndir allt
Já, þúsundfalt
Upplifðir nóg
Komin með nóg
En það varst þú sem allt
Lést í hjarta mér
Og það varst þú sem andann aftur
Kveiktir inní mér

Ég fór, þú fórst

Þú rótar í
Tilfinningum
Í hrærivél
Allt úti um allt
En það varst þú sem alltaf varst
Til staðar fyrir mann
og það varst þú sem aldrei dæmdir
Sannur vinur manns

Ég fór, þú fórst
[hopelandic]

Þú siglir á fljótum
Yfir á gömlum ára
Sem skítlekur
Þú syndir að landi
Ýtir frá öldugangi
Ekkert vinnur á
Þú flýtur á sjónum
Sefur á yfirborði
Ljós í þokunni

i'm done feeling sorry for myself and my decision to quit smoking. i'mstill fidgetty though and a supreme craving last night while watching breaking bad resulted in all of the switch plates and outlet coversin our house gettingpainted red. the boywas away and wasless than pleased when he made the discovery upon his return. good thing a pack of those is less than smokes!

i'm watching our copymachine repairguy take large guts out of the machine and take smaller parts off of that. i am trying to usehis smooth knowing as a confidence booster to apply to working on my car. it's the same right?

Get out!

I just said in a mail that I am not going to be able to successfully quit smoking until the very end of this series.   I'll smoke for you.

Leigh, get a Chiltons book for your car.  I take pictures of things before and during if  I take them apart.  Kind of like unhooking  stereo equipment so you can remember what goes where.

(Edited by Jess)
I said to my daughter last night that she needed to finish reading the book she's currently reading before she starts another one. I'm gonna just let that sink in for a minute for those who know anything about me. The answer is 7.

Starting my day with a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip cookie (I put caramel chips in this batch), and football on the TV (even if it is just replay of preseason games) is the second most awesome way in the world to start the day.

I'm being shunned...not because I got to go to Seattle twice last week...not because I got to meet and have a conversation with my husband's idol...but because I had a sammich at Blazing Bagels. I baked the cookies as an olive branch and promised a trip there Saturday but I think he's still ticked.

I'm tired of everyone comparing Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick.

Edit - speaking of comparisons, a friend I respect and admire actually compared Junior to Randy Moss. Uhm....what?

Oh yeah, your first stanza up there, reminded me...me and the boys go to the library once a week. It gets them away from tv, vid games, and the computer (yes they have computers at the library) but stop, your making me digress...anywhoo...Jack has read just about every book and we are expanding into Big Nate. Well the librarian told Jack if he reads the Nate series, he will get a free pizza, for finishing all the books in his ability group: Jack says no thanks, i just like reading for fun indecision, don't get me wrong, i am glad he loves reading, but, umm, it's FREE PIZZA, smh, currently he is reading the first two potter books, where the red fern grows, and a nate book. He says it helps him concentrate (mmhmm, me too)

bought some fresh Georgia peaches right off the truck. (thank you Pearson Farm)yes  they are so good  that I had to sit cuz my knees buckled when I bit into one.  big, juicy, perfectly ripe.  yesterday we made from scratch some  almond flavored ice cream. for dessert yesterday I  sliced up a peach and put the ice cream over that. i almost passed out it was so damned good.  I wept when the dish was empty.   gonna go now and re-visit that dessert experience.  and i'm sure that  I will once again cry when the dish is empty.  that is all.

The episode where her brother wants to quit university to become a "rapper" is top notch.

via the AV Club recap of this episode:

Stray observations:
Yes, that was a cameo by Tyler, the Creator. Carry on about your business.

"You’re a braver man than I, Gunga Din. I mean not Gunga Din, the other guy. Cary Grant."

Mindy refuses to move to Staten Island. “I will not take a boat to work like I am in the Viet Cong.”

Morgan knows his music. “In prison I was exposed to all kinds. Rap, Nazi Rock, White Muslim Ska…”

That's restaurant quality throw away stuff, lmao!

this a bull**** statement.

based solely on my tweet from about a week ago: "i think mocha is yuppie for chocolate"

@hskrdave

Going to play trivia tonight.  If you're in the Cary, NC area tonight, come hang out at Wild Wing Cafe about 7:30 and help/challenge us.

Go Braves.  18 Days til Huskers.  I need to get my polls ready.

Leigh, looking good. wink

evidently there should be a PSA in Atlanta warning people that railings are in place to prevent people from falling over the sides of things. The railings aren't too low, you just have to be smart enough to operate them

if i came on to strongly in that last post, my apologies.  I have finished the rum in my house though.

So Louisville is an unexpected foodie town in the US.    Bitch, please.  Old news.

And this week has been orientation at U of L.  I think the guys are a little too metrosexual for me.  There were a few too many "more silicone than most" girls for my taste.  I hope some new "real girls" pop up over the next few weeks.
