I am THIRD!

Yankees are DONE!  No playoffs this year, though the other shoe dropped in the last two weeks.  All season long, with the injuries and the age of the team, we were surprised that they lasted as long as they did.  I've changed my avatar to put the Yankees to rest for this year.

RAMS in prime time tonight!  They usually play well against the 49ers.....let's see how this goes.  I've picked them in the Pickem league....it's at home....GO RAMS!!!

Here's today's pic...enjoy

Happy Thursday!

Ciao amici's. Spero che tutti voi vi sono una grande settimana. IO sono tornato a casa dopo il mio soggiorno di 3 giorni a Charlotte, in North Carolina.

Returned home last night from Charlotte.  Ate well.

Beans, let me know if you have tried out any of these places and what you thought. Here are my ratings (out of a possible 5 thumbs up)

Monday night - Fire Birds (Filet Mignon & Shrimp with a Baked Potato)  -  yesyesyesyes
Tuesday lunch - McAlisters (Tuna Sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese) - yesyesyes

Tuesday Dinner - 131 Main Street (Cajun Penne Pasta with Shrimp)- yesyesyesyesyes

Wednesday lunch - Duckworths (Bacon Cheeseburger with Seasoned Fries) - yesyesyesyes

Wednesday's dinner was eaten inside the Charlotte airport. I had WENDY's  cool

I stayed at the Residence Inn Marriott at Pipers Glen and I have to say, that was theeeee most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in.  Even the 6 pillows on my King bed were comfy as all hell!  Usually, one would state that they look forward to getting home and sleeping in their own bed, and even though my bed is comfy, I definitely didn't miss it.

PS - The women in Charlotte, NC, for the most part, are smokin hot!   BEANS!  You lucky dog!  devil

My flight home sucked.  I was in an 18 row puddle jumper type of airplane.  I had the last row, next to the window.  No leg room, what-so-ever.  It was an hour and 35 minute flight and about half way through the flight, I started to get severe pains in my left knee, butt cheek and lower back.  The person next to me was sleeping the entire trip and I didn't want to wake them, so, for the last half of the trip, I was squirming in my seat to try and get comfortable.  It was the worst trip ever.

There's a 50/50 chance that I will be at the Blackhawks home opener, which is banner night (raising the 2013 Stanley Cup Banner).

If I were a betting man, I would take the 49'ERS tonight and GIVE the points!

Ciao!
All right, then, I'll go to hell...

Ashlie, thank you for the birfday shout out the other day, oh wonderful, beautiful Nubian queen. Your still wrong NCIS.

Laurel, Have you heard about a maple syrup and baking soda concoction that is supposed to help cure cancer. The maple syrup has to be organic and the baking soda should be or has to be aluminium free. I'll try to find a link for ya.

This is one and I'm sure you can find others on google.

JSWOL, OU/ND want to bet on it? Nick and anyone else who is feeling froggy can jump on this as well.

Jen - 3 games in and your trailing the great one, of course that was to be expected.laugh

Happy Belated Birthday, Terry!  Sorry that I missed it.

I don't bet and I'm more of a Pro FB guy than I am College., but, with that being said, this should be a helluva game to watch, but, ND having 2x as much Total offense than OKLA, even though ND has played 1 more game, they still have over 600 more total yards....plus ND at home and getting 3.5 pts......hmmmmm.........I think, if I were a betting man, I would take ND and the points.

Aww......effin white women.    The article was kind of hard to follow.

Thanks for the cancer food tip Terry.  I will look that up.   She is very difficult when it comes to food.
Kind of like Green Eggs and Ham........I will not eat that because.....  sigh.

Survivor is pretty interesting this season.  Lot's of twists and turns....anyone remember Brad Culpepper?  He's a p***y.
They have brought family members on and then pitted them against each other.  Makes eliminations very strategic.
Anyway.

Becky feel better, have fun.

I forgot to ask Sid, does the point spread count in his pickem league?

Close your eyes, and think of someone who has been a strong influence and is important to you, and who made a positive impact on your life.

Are your eyes closed? They aren't if you're reading this. cheeky
Work with me! Close them and think before reading on.

Okay, now write down a few sentences about why that person is special to you, as if describing the person to someone else. We can all take a minute or two to do this, especially if that person really meant something to us.

Have you written down your thoughts? Okay...now read on.

Watch this video. NO CHEATING! You must have first closed your eyes, thought of that person, and written down your thoughts. THEN watch this, and follow their lead.

There's a German (I think? Live Science a few years back, I can't remeber?) study based on the same alkali delivery method / principle but with honey since even it's natural form doesn't go bad or grow mold etc. It targets specific lymphomas. But it's also not clear if it's working on it's own or in conjunction with or after other chemotherapeutic agents have been introduced? This seems like an little over simplified panacea since cancers are different biologically and genetically. (e.i. not all lung cancers are exactly the same.) If you have more info, links please. I find this fascinating.

Here is one that talks about baking soda and cancer.

Turmeric is supposed to have all kinds of health benefits, but if you scroll down to an article dated Feb 3, it talks about baking soda and cancer.

Back from travel. It didn't suck, a pleasant surprise.

Since I was out, I didn't get to see Brooklyn Nine Nine or New Girl on Tuesday. I'll have to check them On Demand at some point. It won't be tonight, because tonight is Parks and Rec one hour premiere night*, followed by seeing if the Michael J Fox Show is worth any time.

* I hate that it's been moved to 8:00, aka the Big Bang Theory chum timeslot. That screams final season ahoy.

Very happy to see Machado's knee injury isn't as serious as it looked. Of course, now rehab has to go well.

My #1 goal this weekend: See Rush.

Now to find out slowly if I'll be working on Tuesday. Bastards.

Hello out there in FanIQ Land!

It's no secret I'm not a fan of my boss.  Today she showed me perhaps the biggest reason I can't stand her.  We had a transport council meeting (which accomplishes nothing).  We were very busy and I had to run the office alone.  I should have been out transporting patients but could not because then nobody would be downstairs to help answer questions about our new tracking system.  I attempted to call 3 and she did not answer her phone.  So I politely went up to her meeting and said "we have almost 30 jobs in there."  She says "I know, we have it up, we can see.  I'll have them wrap it up in a little bit, the patients can wait."  A half hour later, they are still not done, and I get a call from an extremely irate patient.  He is waiting to be discharged and upset about the wait.  I told him we had a meeting and he was understandably upset, and started to cuss.  I said "sir please do not cuss at me."  He continued, and I said "sir, do not speak to me in that manner."  His response was "screw you, f***ing dumba$$!" and hung up.  I brought this to the attention of my boss and she seemed to not have a care in the world.  Hey idiot, it's YOUR stupid meeting that made this patient upset.  I told you we were busy and you didn't do a damn thing about it!  Patients come first, your long-winded, boring self can shut up and let the transporters do their job, that's way more important.  The fact that she told me they saw the tracking system in their meeting and let the jobs pile up and kept going shows what kind of leader she is, and how messed up her priorities are.

BK over and out

Good Afternoon, Everybodee!

Not much going on here.   Band is having their band camp.  They're actually further along than they were last year.  I have not had any of those eye-twitch moments when someone/many someones are out of tune.   They're sounding pretty good.

This morning newspaper had an article on the Jazz Band from last year.  (sniff, sniff)  they make me so proud.

Holy Crap, there's a movie both Eric and I want to see. Trever wants to see it too, so I'm sure it's in our near future.

Just got back from an assembly at the kiddo's school.

A few notes:
- If I see one more post on facebook bitching about schools outlawing the pledge of allegiance, I'm going to go off on them. Not only does my daughter's class do it to start the day (she's mentioned it) every day, but we also did it - all the middle school, high school, parents, and tribal council - to start the assembly.

- Having a legitimate DJ playing relevant hip hop/dance music as we enter and exit the gym for the assembly makes that whole ordeal infinitely more fun.

- School rewards assemblies are much more tolerable when each class has an average of 17 students...that's one class per grade.

- There ARE a few things I'll miss about this place when we live, almost all of them relating to my daughter's education. Sure, a few things bother me but the Tribal Council here puts the kids' educations above everything else. Not only do they donate $15K of tribal money per year to cover school supplies, but they also donated $20K this year to pay students for passing the state tests - my daughter got $100 for passing all of last year's sections today. I think we'll start a savings account for her.

- I'm a little freaked out that I went to a High School/Middle School assembly. For my baby girl. My baby.
All right, then, I'll go to hell...

1.) Look at the subject matter of the movie. That shouldn't be a surprise.

2.) I didn't know schools are outlawing the pledge of indoctrination (and don't really trust Facebook ranters, the modern equivalent of people yelling on street corners about the voices in their head), nor do I know outlawing would work, but good.

2) They're not. It's another one of those "the government's coming to take our guns!" things that's been going on for as long as I can remember but have yet to see any evidence of it. Kiernan's always said the pledge before school, in all 3 areas we've lived. (I'll be honest, I don't care either way whether they do or not, but it annoys me how many people constantly post - used to be emails pre-FB - about it.)

First of all, thanks for that hashtag spoiler, a**hole! One reason I f***ing hate twitter and hashtags. and cats. I sat there pretending I didn't know what was going to happen while everyone watched that part. Ugh. Though, the way it happened  was stupidly hilarious.

Was the BEST Rafi episode ever! I hate Rafi, so that means a lot. That lil blog article was on point, too. The FF plot is fantastic because they are idiots in a crap league who take it much too seriously, but it's pretty much been about their personal life bs the entire time too, but never a complete episode hijacking! I love it.

If we just showed more gratitude towards people, I think we all would find a little bit more happiness in our lives.
I couldn't agree more. I'm making it a daily mantra.

I love it.

/RIP Rafi
