Welcome back. This is the part of the locker room where you can sit and chat and chill for a while without offending or being shushed. Maybe you wanna watch a dvd or listen to your mp3. Yes, I rhymed. Something on your mind, post it! Random question, ask it? Hijacking is allowed and encouraged. Join the party, troll around, have a beer. It's cool. All are welcome, but please leave all BS in the hall.

I've probably played this song already but Idc because I love it and I've been wearing it out like Star94.

My Jesus looks sooo fantastic all of the time.
The new Captain America trailer, and the new X-Men one looked great. I have no real clue about this combination that got e'erybody in that movie together, but it makes me really happy. But, I'm a bit of a fangirl so....
And Keanu....ha, oh Keanu, I will absolutely be seeing 47 Ronin because KEANU! He's making the Nic Cage circuit. heart it.

I have questions for my friends in, as I like to call it, Hotlanta
1) what is the word on the street about the Braves situation? How about the word in the local media?
2) how long before this bankrupts Cobb County?
3) maybe it's a good thing, what's around the proposed ballpark area?
4) where are the Falcons planning on building their stealth radar deflecting stadium? Will it be those radar avoidance systems or Matt Ryan's play that will keep the fans away?
5) Odds that in today's PC age of extreme sensitivity the Braves keep their name but instead of being Native themed, they adopt a confederate army theme

My Avalanche were taken behind the woodshed last night and given a fierce pounding. It was reminiscent of a snuff film without all the sexy talk

Every time I hear somebody bring up Nielsen ratings, there is one thing that comes to my mind. Allegedly millions of people watch The Big Bang Theory. I've still yet to meet one in real life. Does CBS find the households with Nielsen boxes and pay them to keep their TV on CBS around the clock? There's no reason that plethora of awfulness should be America's most watched network. I'm disappointed in you America. Elementary? Really?

  • Blackhawks won in a shoot out and are now 13-2-4 - 30pts.  They also re-acquired Kris Versteeg from FLA along with F Phillipe Lefebrve for F Jimmy Hayes and D Dylan Olsen.  Versteeg was a part of the 2010 Stanley Cup team…….FLA will pick up 1/2 of his contract, which expires in 2016.  In my opinion, this was a very good trade!
  • I didn't bother watching that NFL game last night, but I did see where INDY came back from a 17-3 deficit to win.
  • Roger Waters life-long search for his father comes to end. Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters has written a poem of thanks to an elderly war veteran who solved a lifelong mystery over his father.
Lieutenant Eric Fletcher Waters was killed in World War II, but that’s all Roger ever knew about the dad he never met. Waters was very angry because his father was missing in action, presumed killed, until quite recently Waters expected him to come home. Now 93-year-old Harry Shindler, who’d never heard of the band until he met Waters at a veterans’ memorial event, has discovered that Lieutenant Waters died around 11.30am on February 18, 1944 during the Allied landings at Anzio, Italy, in a once-open field that’s now the centre of the town of Aprilia. Shindler, who himself fought at Anzio – tells The Guardian: “Waters didn’t know where his dad was killed. But nobody had lifted a finger. I knew there had to be a war diary, but I never thought it had been kept for 70 years." The British veteran has spent years cracking the cases of soldiers lost in Italy.“I’m talking to the council in Aprilia about unveiling a plaque and holding a ceremony next February 18, to which Waters could come.”Waters wrote the poem entitled One River and gave it to Shindler with the inscription, “To Harry with gratitude.”Shindler says: “He might think his war is over now.”Waters has consistently supported veteran activities, including inviting fans to submit photos of their family war dead for inclusion in recent live performances of The Wall. It's a sad situation for Roger Waters, but you have to wonder how much of his grief-inspired genius we would never have heard given different circumstances. His loss, our gain.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

I would tell you the answer to that if it wouldn't breach my confidentiality agreement with where I earn my paychecks. wink

I, too, don't get the whole fascination with that show (shrug).  I've tried watching it and was not impressed.

I'm just very curious about how the whole Nielsen system is set up. I need to find out where all these people who watch so much CBS are. I'm wondering if they are confined in a secret underground detention facility. If this is what they're watching on TV how are their other living conditions? I mean, I'm sure they must be habitable if they're allowed TV, but where are the lines drawn?
Are they allowed access to the internet? Is that access still AOL dial up? Do they get access to movies or other forms of entertainment? Is it some giant experiment by a large pharmaceutical company?

Oh oh, so this white man, david something..wilson maybe, "implied" that he was black to win an election. Yes. That's different, right? Right. Some of you know I LOATHE al sharpton already. My dad had his show on. Wtf is sharpton doing with a show, and why the f*** is my dad watching? Idk either, whatever. Sharpton had the man on the show because he's mad that he had flyers* with the black people on them, and one said something like vote for your neighbor, david something, wilson maybe. There was something about ron paul or ron white too, but I thought ron white did tours with foxxworthy, idk.

I found this a. hysterical, b. brilliant!, c. to be the fault of the voters. I told them, in between giggling because the man reminded me of a south park character on top of everything else and him trying to explain to dumbass Al was quite comical (omg, it was like a south park episode!), that it's what they get for voting for someone without doing ANY f***ing research! I think they wanted him to step down, but why? He was voted in. Not his fault, y'all fell for the okie doke. I'd vote for him right now based on this one piece of info.

From my first run through the latest Daft Punk CD, this has been my favorite tune

Daft Punk - Instant Crush

I didn't want to be the one to forget
I thought of everything I'd never regret
A little time with you is all that I get
That’s all we need because its all we can take
One thing I never see the same when you're 'round
I don’t believe in him — his lips on ground
I wanna take you to that place in the “Roche”
But no one gives us any time anymore
He ask me once if I’d look in on his dog
You made an offer for it, then you ran off
I got this picture of us kids in my head
And all I hear is the last thing that you said

I listened to your problems, now listen to mine
I didn't want to anymore, oh oh ohh

And we will never be alone again
Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
Cause I know it unlocks like a door
And we will never be alone again
Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend

Some more again

It didn't matter what they wanted to see
He thought he saw someone that looked just like me
The summer memory that just never dies
We worked too long and hard to give it no time
He sees right through me, it's so easy with lies
Cracks in the road that I would try and disguise
He runs his scissor at the seam in the wall
He cannot break it down or else he would fall
One thousand lonely stars hiding in the cold
Take it, oh I don't wanna sing anymore

I listened to your problems, now listen to mine
I didn't want to anymore, oh oh ohh

And we will never be alone again
Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
Cause I know it unlocks like a-

I don't understand, don't get upset
I'm not with you
We’re swimming around,
It's all I do, when I'm with you

And we will never be alone again
Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
Cause I know it unlocks like a door
And we will never be alone again
Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend

Cause I don't know what else I can do

1. What Ash said, plus it's a football town, county & state. It's really like the REGION'S team now as opposed to Atlanta's. There are a ton of folks from out of town for every home game. (ask Tiger or Sid) The Georgia dome got the Fulton county money and the mayor is already talking about tearing down Turner Field.  Hell the Braves don't even sell out playoff games. I told E. I turn down playoff tix every year and he had an aneurysm. lol

2. idk? apparently they're going to take the money out of education, as one does, so it should all work out just horribly.

3. It's a suburb, so stuff & things I guess? Subdivisions? Strip malls?

4. At the corner of my street (as soon as they buy out those churches and divert MLK Blvd.) The concepts keep changing, but all the other crap they plan on adding to my hood should be great! I cannot wait.

5. It's the South, so everything is in play.

Would someone who has an opinion, (you all know who does/doesn't have one) please explain to me,(be nicesurprise) why every year so-called NFL experts dog teams with one or more losses for playing a so-called "soft schedule?"  Unlike the NCAA, the NFL schedules the games and a good portion of the logic is based on last years results and how you finished in your own division. So KC and Denver are being portrayed as somewhat overrated because of this?  Other than Oakland I would say that on a neutral field any of the other three teams in the AFC West would be a legitimate threat year in/year out to win a high % of games, or at least go into the 4th quarter with a chance to win.  Not to many other divisions can say they have even two teams to boast that.

I agree about the NFL scheduling. Things change too much from week to week (injuries play a huge factor) to say one way or another how "strength" of schedule matters. It's an insane way to judge a team.

Just read this on grantland. It's a pretty solid piece addressing some of this stuff.

So she's the modern day Rachel, got it. That actually explains a lot. I didn't think a gay scientist would be that big of a draw for the CBS demographics

1&2. I'm sucked in. The mayor getting pissed and threatening to burn Turner Field to the ground. Cobb County cannibilizing social programs in order to be taken advantage of by a billionaire. I do hope they have a monorail stop close to the stadium. The fact that local politicians can put this into play without a vote on the raising and "re-appropriation" of tax dollars.

3. Coors Field pretty much reinvigorated downtown Denver and started the transformation and amazing growth we've seen for the last 20 years. I bet there's a Cracker Barrell right down the street from the new stadium that is already losing it's mind over this possibility. And don't forget to hit the Super Walmart after the game where we are rolling back prices on snack foods and select walmart brand ice creams

5. If it means the world gets a new mascot anywhere near the awesomeness of the transsexual pelican in new orleans, I am all for change

As I understand it, the stadium is on the line(ish) so it will actually still have an Atlanta address, so it can technically keep the name. Damn bastards.

Ha. That was your big old state, wasn't it? It was good tv, man. It's like voting straight down the ballot without knowing anything about the people or positions, you get what you get. It was genius. You know black people.... (plus, my mom was mad about it too and that made it extra extra funny).

and THAT is one reason why I don't listen to these so-called "experts" when it comes to that.

When it comes to the schedules, you rotate playing the other Conference's divisions each year……so, there really is no say as to whom you get to play, when it comes to the AFC having to play the NFC.  Same goes for your own Conference. You rotate playing your non-divisional divisions every year.

So, really, there are only 2 games each year that are factored into being "a soft schedule" or not, or is based on last years results.

EX:  Chicago Bears

Play GB, DET, MIN each 2x = 6 games

Play 1 AFC Division = 4 games  (this year, it's the AFC North, and rotate between all 4 AFC Divisions each year). So, we play the AFC North this year, then the AFC West next year, then the AFC East the following year and finally the AFC South the 4th year.

Play 1 NFC Division (outside of our own) = 4 games (and rotate between the remaining 3 Divisions every yea)r. So, since we are in the NFC North, we play them every year, but, we may play the NFC East this year, then the NFC West next year, then the NFC South the following year.

Those rotating schedules are a given and are set. That gives you 14 games thus far.

The remaining 2 games is really where your last years success and placement comes into play.  In my opinion, those 2 games should be rotated amongst the teams that you did not play last year and are not playing this year, within your Conference. So, since the Bears are playing DET, GB, MIN, DAL, NYG, WAS & PHI (within their own Conference) and since they played SF, STL, ARZ & SEA last year with CAR & DAL being the 2 extra teams, NO, ATL & TB are the 3 teams to look at for those last 2 games for this year, but, instead, we are playing STL again this year and NO.

The whole 'soft schedule" is primarily just based on the overall record (from last year) of all the teams that you are playing this year, with 14 of those 16 games being automatically set in stone each year.

Does that make sense?  Or did I ramble into major confusion?  indecision

and THAT is one reason why I don't listen to these so-called "experts" when it comes to that.

Cobb County cannibilizing social programs in order to be taken advantage of by a billionaire.

Isn't that pretty much the goal of the Republican party?

Plus, the Cobb GOP chairman has already said he won't support the move if they expand the subway to Cobb County. Translation: No scary black people please.

I would like to think this is the last straw of the publicly funded stadium scam, but I doubt it.

Ha. That was your big old state, wasn't it? It was good tv, man. It's like voting straight down the ballot without knowing anything about the people or positions, you get what you get. It was genius. You know black people.... (plus, my mom was mad about it too and that made it extra extra funny).

Also, I spellt flyers wrong so fix that pre-sharing. pre-sharing made me think of porn.

Looks gross to me, and I grew up with a Mom/Dad who thought Spam should be served 2-3x a day with eggs.

It's basically oversized breakfast sausages & mashed potatos. That's sort of a fancy version of it in that pic. lol if you really wanna keep it real you'd boil the bangers. (I strongly recommend you don't ever, ever do that unless you've got a cockney accent)

Still snowing.  No snow in October.  Green Hallowe'en for the first time in decades, and now we are making up for it.  I hate winter.

My daughter got her horse on Friday and has been with her since.  I had to make sure she wasn't trying to sleep out in the barn with her, as it isn't heated.  It is -16C here today.  She will have to come home sometime.

I think.

This area is getting bitchslapped by severe weather today.  The storms are pulsing as they come through, intensifying and weakening at will.  Tornadoes and 70-80 mph are the main threat.

#47 | 343 days ago

Stay safe, Christi!

I think the main threat is over.  Some of my family and friends were in areas that were tornado warned, and are safe.  Still waiting on the actual front to come through, but it shouldn't have anything more than severe storms, if that.

I've seen some of the pictures, and heard that there were three people killed, so far.  I hope you get nothing but a little rain and some gusts, but watching KC and Denver game, they are showing wind warnings for all over the place! Just got an alert that Ontario Canada is affeccted.  The weather map is unreal!

We didn't get anything near what Illinois got because the tornadoes in this area hit more rural areas.  My cousin lives back in the country, down a one lane road that is heavily forested.  She said that her husband and others will be helping their local gov't clear the lane because there are so many trees down across the road.  That's about the worst that any of my family/friends have to endure.
